Perfectly healthy but thinks it’s a snake

My DF garden has been a year over year project that started probably about 6 years ago with a few cuttings that were gifted to me. I’ve learned a lot over the years from communities like this one and other social media outlets. I’ve had many moments of frustration and wanting to give up on them. Last year was my first truly successful year getting a handful of fruits that made it from budding to eating.

This year, about half of my plants all have budded and flowered. A few buds were aborted on their own sadly, but I am thrilled to share that so far every flower that bloomed and was pollinated appears to have successfully begun turning into a fruit!!! That feeling of sadness and disappointment that comes when you them yellowing and aborting, has been replaced with one of joy, excitement, and pride.

My garden has evolved from a few unknown cuttings to 20 mature plants of different varieties that are fruiting. Obviously, I’m proud, but also sharing to give hope to those that may be feeling frustrated and disappointed as I have in the past. 6 years seems like a long time to be trying over and over, but now my DF are well on their way to an abundance of fruit!! Not sure what variety it is. From a cutting about 6 years ago. Grown in zone 6b in a greenhouse. Flowered about 40 days ago. Will cut it open later today or tomorrow. Have 4 total with two more flower buds on the way I just noticed.

Anybody know what this is? I found it on the Big Island.

Any ideas on what type this might be

I have cut, dried out the cut, planted into smaller pots but now I don’t know when they are ready to be planted in the “forever home”

Also, one stupid question: How does dragon fruit plant grow when propagated, does extends the stem or it always branch out ?

Does anyone live near Charlottesville, VA? I have 2 cuttings from my dragonfruit that are growing very well and I just don’t have the room for 6 plants!

Got it from a friend of mine, it’s got a ton of roots but barely any growth above ground, repotted it in sand/cactus soil/pearlite

So im out pollinating and this guy shows up! Is he doing the work for me?? Moth?

If I recall when I bought a bunch of cuttings, I had Purple Haze, Physical Graffiti, Dark Star, Voodo Child, Cosmic Charlie, and maybe another couple I'm forgetting. Maybe that will be helpful. All of these photos are from the same single potted dragon fruit. Thank you for your help!

I bought this plant from Facebook marketplace which was advertised as “American Beauty dragonfruit rooted cutting”. But once I transplanted and fertilized it for 3 weeks, it started sprouting all this new growth and even “BRUD”s. What are these? Should I cut them off? Or is this some other plant?

I’m not very experienced in dragon fruit (so I know this is probably dumb but it’s out of pure curiosity lol) but I have one NoID dragon fruit that I purchased from a local reputable nursery last year and went back the other day to see if they had any more. After looking around and not finding any, I noticed this odd looking thing labeled “cactus gymnocalycium” and realized it was something grafted onto a dragon fruit and had a new stem growing from it. (Picture 1&2) and then realized it was basically the weird little cactus’s I see at the big box stores all the time so when I was at my local HD I took a second to look and realized that these actually do seem to be on dragon fruits mostly?? Other than the dragon fruit base being NoID is there any reason you couldn’t just buy these for $5 from from any HD, let the dragon fruit push out new growth and just let it go??

I’m dying to know if it’s self fertile or not

I had no idea what this cutie plant was when I saw it but my husband and I thought it was so silly - just a leaf in a cup! About a week later it started growing another leaf! It looked like a hand waving to my other plants.

I finally got to looking it up today and have discovered the magical and majestic dragon fruit cactus. Boy oh boy, these are awesome. Who knew how funny and cool these plants were?! Not I! I cackled when I saw these bad boys growing on trees and producing giant pokey fruit. Incredible.

Anyway, I’m happy to be here and if anyone has any tips for growing this guy nice and strong, let me know! 🌱
