The majority of the songs on year of the snitch have a lot of lyrics that are written differently than how i hear them. I know that the album is very specifically mixed in certain ways of quality, especially ride’s voice. I’m wondering if anyone has had this same confusion and if anyone else thinks this is purposeful on their part of finding words that sound similar to other words then writing the lyrics down maybe incorrectly or, it is all just a mistake by some other reason. A-lot of the time the mishearing mean usually closely to the same exact thing he says either way too, which is cool. I am also aware i am getting influenced by people possibly making jokes about the lyrics and me not understanding the jokes and thinking it’s real maybe. I just want the real lyrics idk. I like to think they did it on purpose with the mixing though, the mixing on this album is my favorite of all their stuff.

I think Whatever I Want is their trippiest song by far. My first time listening to it, it felt like breaking into and destroying the central heart of the dopamine industry in 2500 or something. Like what Times Square looks like to a cave man. The upbeat part is tearing through the outer layers of it, and the trippy part thats most of the song is like falling into the black hole- supernova of culture and dopamine thats at the center. Like how modern experimental art is the evolution of what came most recently before it, this is the singularity of that, repeating and warping infinitely, and a mortal soul being thrust into that, like the end of 2001. This song feels like the ultimate concluding track of life. Also, it’s one of LaKeith Stanfield’s favorites. Im really curious about your interpretations.

Can anyone explain what kinds of effects you would need to apply to the original ex military cover to achieve the aesthetic of the black google cover? Looking to modify some photos of my own in a similar fashion

I’ve always liked how Death Grips uses drugs in their image, but not typical lean or weed like most rap artist would, instead some more slightly niche opioids like hydrocodone w/acetaminophen (Vicodin) which they based a huge part of the branding of government plates off of

It adds a level of realism to their music because I could very realistically see death grips members being prescribed those drugs

It adds to the grittiness of their music because it’s not like it’s some super powerful opioid like heroin or morphine, they sort of just sit in a middle ground

Like when I hear Ken Carson rap about being on Lean and smoking weed im like “yeah, of course, duh, everyone else is, that could be super easy to lie about”

But when I hear death grips rapping about Ketamine and “Yellow Pill Shit” I’m like damn. They really be doing that. It’s not bragadocious or glamorized it’s just apart of their lives
