All I heard before/in college what that if I wasn’t “passionate” about CS I’d never make it.

Well that’s not true. I’m not smart; I dislike coding and never made any personal projects. But at the end of the day just like any other major or industry, networking/hard work/ambition is what’s important. First year out of college I make 110k base in a MCOL city. I work for a bank doing full stack SWE work.

So to anyone who thinks they’ll make it far just because they like cs or like coding. Get over yourself. Tech is just like every other sector.

The Google SWE intern application is already out in July, but I thought it usually comes out in September. Nvidia, Anduril, Salesforce - all of them are already out.

I am applying to these 2027 internships before my 2026 internship is even over. Should I apply right now, or should I wait it out and see if I can get some better bullet points on my resume from my current internship?

Can anyone explain me what is happening with nursing right now? I was thinking about doing new degree because of CS job market is cooked and I heard that nursing market is great. But then i looked at this graph and i dont know anymore.

Is this graph a glitch or nursing is rapidly shrinking in opportunities and is not safe as second degree?

My internship right now has been all vibe coding, but I grinded super hard this month and ran out of tokens. This morning, without Claude, has been the most fulfilling and productive I’ve ever been.

I’ll probably keep Claude off for 30 mins each day before I start vibing again

In one month, I will be returning to a state school as a sophomore. I haven’t done great about studying outside of class, but I’m trying to get better at that, and I’ve even started a project using Blazor/C# (my school’s big on that language.) I’m also going to put in some effort to apply to internships this year. (Since it’s a state school nowhere near the top, I plan to start locally/at career fairs)

I’ve heard a lot about how risky the job market is nowadays, but at the moment I really don’t know what else I’d be interested in outside of tech. I’ve seen lots of people fail to get SWE roles, but they end up pivoting to other fields (data science, IT, etc.)

So I really have two questions:

1. Is it bad that I don’t really mind not getting the absolute best position? Obviously, I’m not going to slack off, but I honestly don’t want my degree or loans to be in vain.

2. Is it bad that I don’t really know what my niche/specialization is yet? I’ve been moderately interested in both my programming and database courses, but I’m still not dead set on something.

So I see some people saying the market is getting slightly better and that new CS enrollments are declining (which are positive signs), but I don’t see how that helps those that graduated over the last three years and were left out? CS enrollment declining has a 4 year lag before we'll see the effects, and the market improving slightly doesn’t mean anything when there’s a massive backlog of CS grads from the last few years. Employers will obviously give preference to recent grads over someone that graduated two years ago and has been unemployed/working irrelevant jobs.

Obviously not every CS grad will go into SWE, but even if you take into account tech adjacent roles in business and IT, I still don’t see how the tech industry absorbs everyone graduating and recently graduated.

I want to go into CS but I know the market's brutal right now. I've seen stats showing something like 7% unemployment and 19% underemployment for new grads, which means roughly a quarter of grads are struggling to land a job in their field. I don't want to be one of them. I'm trying to figure out what actually separates the grads who get hired from the ones who don't. Is it school prestige, GPA, LeetCode grind, internships, personal projects, networking or some combination? I'd rather build the right habits now than realize senior year that I wasted time on the wrong things.

For people who've been through the process recently or who are hiring new grads: what actually moved the needle for you or the candidates you saw succeed? Was it having 2-3 solid internships, a github full of real projects, being able to solve mediums on the spot, or something less obvious like referrals and networking? Any advice is that helps me not to be in this bottom 30% of grads is welcome.

I've been coding since 4th grade. Countless personal projects, hundreds of LeetCode problems solved, I'm at a T10 school... and I still can't land even a mediocre internship or entry-level job. It's making me question whether any of this effort was worth it. If I'd put the same hours into something like accounting or electrical engineering, I feel like I'd be swimming in offers right now instead of drowning in rejections.

I still love coding, genuinely, but it's hard not to feel like the market just doesn't reward that anymore. Anyone else in the same boat? How are you coping with it, and has anyone actually pivoted to a different major/field this late and found it worked out better?

Just need to vent about how cold-blooded staffing agencies are.

I took a 1-year contract through TEKsystems for a role at Walmart. Barely 4 months in, Walmart leadership decides to slash budget and start cutting team members. Naturally, I got laid off.

When it happened, TEKsystems initially promised us a 1-week "grace period" so we’d have a small window to look for new opportunities through them. But almost immediately, they completely turned their back on that promise. They basically said, "Nope, contract’s done today, no grace period, good luck."

It’s crazy how fast these agencies drop you the second a client cuts costs. Seeking a job in this market is already brutal, but dealing with agencies that treat contractors like completely disposable numbers makes it ten times worse.

Has anyone else dealt with TEKsystems pulling stuff like this recently?

I applied for the Fall 2026 term and was wondering what the process is usually like. About how long did it take to hear back after submitting your application, and how many interview rounds were there? I’d also love to know what the interviews focused on. I know it varies by team, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

Has anyone interviewed for the Tesla Solar Hardware Engineering Intern (Fall 2026) role? I have an upcoming interview and wanted to know what to expect. Are the technical questions mainly LeetCode-style coding, Python/data analysis, or more focused on solar hardware concepts? Our college's placement cell recently shared an email about the new Cognizant Ace Frontier Engineer campus hiring program for the 2027 graduating batch. According to the email: Senior Associate: 18 LPA Associate: 12 LPA Final level depends on the assessment and interview process. I wanted some clarification from anyone who has information or has gone through this process. My questions are: Is this a completely new role or an upgraded version of GenC Next/Ace? What is the selection process (OA, interviews, coding rounds, AI/ML questions, etc.)? How difficult is the online assessment compared to previous Cognizant hiring? What kind of DSA, CS fundamentals, or development topics should I prepare? Is the 18 LPA package realistic for a significant number of candidates, or is it offered only to a few top performers? Has anyone from the 2026 or earlier batches already appeared for this role? If yes, could you share your experience?

Did the OA for BofA GT 2027 (SWE/Mainframe) 3 weeks ago and my portal is stuck on "Application received." I haven't heard of a single person getting a reply or moving forward. Did they freeze applications or did we all get ghosted? Anyone actually get an update?

Hey guys,

I'm graduating this December as a master's student. I've been looking for a full-time job since the beginning of June, but so far there have been no interviews.

Context: I have 3 years of data engineer experience, a 6-month SDE internship experience at Nvidia back in my home country last summer, and a 3-month founding AI engineer internship this summer.

I'm targeting AI startups and big techs. Many of my friends started their careers at a medium-sized company, so I know it can be a good choice as well. But the thing is, during these two years of trying to apply for medium-sized companies for internships/full-time, I've never heard back from them, and that's partially why last year I ended up going back to my home country. So I think there might be something specific for medium size company that I lack?

I saw many posts saying we should start looking this summer, ideally before September. But on LinkedIn, I haven't seen many big tech new grads post recently. Am I being late, or is there something wrong with my searching strategy?

Any kind of tips/suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks!

Have both phone screens coming up, does anyone have any tips on how to prepare?

When applying to SWE internships, we are all used to the "preferred location" question. But to maximize our chances, should we be selecting all of the available locations, or should we choose only a few of the locations?

I feel like it could go both ways, since if you select all the locations, you could get a better chance for a human to look at your resume. But on the other hand, selecting all of the locations makes you look desperate and (possibly) reduce your ATS score.

Can some recruiter enlighten me about this?

Also, is this more of a universal answer or does the answer depend on the ATS brand (Workday, ICIMS, Greenhouse) or custom ATS configuration?
