For more than 30 years, Argentine ceramic artist Adriana Martínez has been researching and reconstructing pre-Columbian ceramic technologies across Latin America.
Instead of keeping that knowledge to herself, she turned it into a free manual that has already reached readers in more than 30 countries.
We recently made this short video to tell the story behind the project.
The next goal is to publish English and French editions so this knowledge can reach even more people.

I’ve always been glazing these pieces with black as the design but I think white has its own unique flair. Now I’ll need to really try some other color combinations as well. Which do you prefer - white or black?

I broke my yarn bowl this morning and I fixed it with some nail glue for the most part but there’s still some gaps and imperfections and I want to fill the gaps so yarn doesn’t snag on there. I have seen kintsugi but I wouldn’t want to do gold specifically. I wouldn’t mind a silver or some other color.

Anyone have ideas or product recommendations that’s affordable and simple. Thanks!

I used to think the most memorable ceramics were the ones that caught your attention immediately.Recently, I’ve been noticing the opposite.

Some pieces look quite simple at first — maybe a quiet glaze, a subtle texture, or a shape that doesn’t stand out too much.But the longer you look at them, the more details start to appear.

Small changes in the surface, tiny variations from the firing, or marks left by the maker can completely change how a piece feels.I think that’s one of the things I enjoy most about handmade ceramics.They don’t always show everything at once.Sometimes you have to spend a little time with them.

Tiles were all cut & glazed by me then set + grouted onto some scrap wood that had been sanded, stained, sealed, and attached to a modified cabinet drawer. I'll finish the drawer soon so it has little cubbies for the pieces to rest in.

Just got into pottery in the last couple months been experimenting with a little hand building. I don’t love the grey around the mouth and fin. I used white stroke and coat over the bottom and that’s where the blue rutile overlapped it. Other than that I’m really happy with her!

I purchased a Skutt kiln and I have my own space with a work bench, built in shelves, and a hand made wedging table this is a big deal for me yay! Also I’m working on this lil guy rn I’m only an hour in so give me ur thoughts and criticisms ty

I really miss ceramics! When I was in high school and had access to a kiln, I made these weird coiled organic vases a lot- there’s something super delightful about the sensory experience of rolling out these tiny coils and attaching them. I miss it a lot!

Hello, I’m being offered an older kiln for a good price locally on Facebook. The person selling it to me just wants it gone, and simply doesn’t use it anymore. I don’t know a lot about kilns, and this one looks pretty old. Anything i should be made aware of?

Hi, I am on the hunt for hand made potter/ceramics to stock my dish-ware.

Obsessed with these style mugs from Cozy Cup Gaimika and Mithändengemacht but they don't ship outside of Europe.

I stumbled on Helen Levi pottery and that matches the vibe too, but wondering other suggestions. Looking at a lot of mugs right now, but want to expand to plates and bowls slowly and build a real collection.

I’m looking to learn different methods of ceramic tile making but having difficulty finding classes. It seems like ceramic studios don’t really offer it. Does anyone out there have any ideas on where one might go to learn?
