any local stores to get whole spices?
looking for a spice shop that isn't a wholesaler like kroger, meijer, etc.
I usually order online but was wondering if there was anywhere nearby.
Edit: Thanks everyone for the recommendations, I'll hit up the international cafe and R&S if I'm out of town.

Local Yardsales and Garage sales
Is there an online area I can check to find yard sales and garage sales in BG? I haven't seen very many signs out lately but I'm guessing that might be because of the heat and storms.

Looking for a bookish, crafty event in Nashville?
galleryCreative Corner Nashville is hosting a Kickstarter launch party on October 10, 2026!
About this FREE event:
We're throwing a launch party, and you're invited.
Beth DeWeese is a Nashville author, and her new book Penned by Fate is set in a little shop that sells magic, fountain pens, and the occasional fated mate, so when she asked about doing her launch here, it felt a bit like the book had wandered off the page and into Creative Corner.
There'll be a chance to meet Beth, hear about the book, and be part of the Kickstarter launch as it goes live. Whether you're a romance reader, a paper person, or just curious, there's a seat for you.
It's free, you just need to register so we know to expect you.

Looking for suggestions on someone who can cut hair and actually listen
I’ve had such a hard time since moving to BG in 2015. I don’t want to go to a salon where they wash my hair, cut it the way they want and not actually listen to me, put a ton of product in my hair, style it the way they want and charge me $100.
I’ve been to MULTIPLE salons and always end up going back to Great Clips for an uneven hair cut. I don’t color my hair. I just need someone that can help me with a decent looking haircut that is low maintenance. Any suggestions on someone that is somewhat affordable (not looking for cheap but also not looking to have my hair sprayed with shit and curled and tease). I just need a damn haircut that is even, looks decent and does not cost an arm and a leg.

Incoming WKU Student
Hi everyone! My name is Kaylee, and I’m an incoming freshman for the Fall 2026 semester at WKU. I don’t really know anyone going there yet, so I thought I’d see if anyone would be interested in chatting a bit before the semester starts or maybe even meeting up on campus once we’re there. It’d be nice to know a few people ahead of time!
I’m majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience, and I’ll be in the Honors College and the Honors LLC. Outside of classes, I love video games, musicals, art, reading (literally any genre!), and writing. I have a lot of different interests, so I’m sure we’ll find something to talk about!
I also plan on attending H4 and MASTER Plan if anyone else is!
If you’re interested, feel free to send me a DM!

Moving to Bowling Green & looking for a roommate situation - ideally by the week!
Hey there - my name is Shelby. Thank you for reading my post. I hope it is okay to make a post regarding housing shares here, if not, I'm happy to delete it. My post is a bit lengthy, but I am trying to make sure I find a great fit & living situation for both myself & my future roommate. : ). Please feel free to comment or message me if you are interested or know someone who might be, or even if you just have any words of wisdom or cool things to explore once I move! Thank you, Shelby
Hi! I’m Shelby. I am looking to find a roommate in or around the Bowling Green area.
I’m 33 years old, extremely clean and organized, quiet and value my time to myself, but I’m also social and would love to be friends with my roommate. I’m a Christian. I very rarely drink, and on the off chance I do, it’s a glass of wine here or there. I don’t smoke anything or do any drugs.
I am a former paramedic and current CPR instructor. When I am not teaching, I pick up side work doing grocery delivery and courier tasks, and I also have quite the side hustle flipping small items on eBay.
I am out of the house a lot. I travel several times a month to teach and to visit family and friends in Tennessee and Georgia. I obviously want to feel like I am welcome to be home whenever I’d like to be, but the reality is that I am frequently away.
I love animals, but because of how much I am away, I do not have any and don’t plan to in the near future. I am pretty decent in the kitchen with both cooking and baking, and I am happy to share.
I am not from Bowling Green and am looking for a happy and healthy place to start life in a new area after the end of a long-term living situation with a then-significant other. There is no drama or anything like that. It’s just time to be somewhere new.
One of my sisters, her husband, and their daughter live in Bowling Green, and the idea of living near her brings my heart so much joy. I am also an avid country music lover and am excited about the proximity to Nashville.
My other hobbies include working out, reading and writing, paddle boarding, golf, road trips, thrifting, and pretty much anything outside. Don’t be scared about the thrifting—I hate clutter and only find things here and there to keep in my room and eventually sell.
Ideally, I would love to find a furnished room, as I am starting over, but that isn’t a deal breaker to me. I highly prefer a situation where I can pay by the week, at least at first. Income isn’t the issue, but I want to make sure both parties are comfortable and happy with the living situation, as we have all heard horror roommate stories. I think I’m a pretty great roommate, though!
I am not looking to be added to a lease or pay a hefty deposit, as I am literally arriving with myself, my clothes, and small personal items. My credit isn’t the greatest due to the relationship separation and the things that entails, but it has nothing to do with my rental history. Rent will always be paid on time and is my highest priority. I am a workaholic, and I am absolutely passionate about what I do. Work and income are not the issue.
Essentially, I just want somewhere I can move to short-term at first and see how we both feel—somewhere that is clean and comfy. I don’t care if you’re not as crazy about cleaning as I am, but I wouldn’t thrive well in a home that is just plain unsanitary.
I do want to live with another girl for comfort and safety. In the ideal situation, we would be somewhere around the same age, have similar lifestyles, and hopefully become friends!
I am looking to move no later than August 1, but I am open to moving sooner.
Thank you for reading! :)

Activities for kids
Hi everyone!
My parents live out in Smith’s Grove, and I visit them frequently with my 3.5 year old, so I’m looking for things we can do together if we want to get out of the house. Indoor and outdoor options are fine, we like being outside but also appreciate options if the weather isn’t great!
To give you ideas, we have been to and enjoyed Chuck E. Cheese, Detwiler’s Country Store, Jackson’s Orchard, Kentucky Down Under, Roland Bland Park playground, and the Smith’s Grove library. My parents also have a boat, so lakes are an option!

Landscaping rock
Is there a quarry in or around BG that will fill a pickup truck bed? Preferably pea gravel, but can compromise on that.

anyone know if houses in bowling green actually sell as-is
got a place near the college. its been in my family forever but i live out of state now and nobody wants to deal with it needs a roof needs some plumbing work yard is a disaster
i keep paying taxes on it and its just bleeding money. i listed it with a realtor last year but got no serious offers cause everyone wanted repairs done first
im honestly tired of it. just want to sell and be done. i heard some real estate investors buy houses without fixing anything. does that actually happen around here or is that just something you see on tv
if anyone sold a house in bowling green as-is let me know how it went

Crazy Cat Lady in Rockfield, KY
Today my friend said he ran into a crazy cat lady in Rockfield. She's been coming onto his family's property to feed cats, and will leave trash on their property. They live near the Browning Fire Department off Browning Road.
His family has confronted her twice, and have asked her to quit littering and trespassing. His mom dealt with her first, and the lady cussed his mom out and threatened to hurt her and her dog before leaving. That was a few weeks ago.
Today when my friend confronted her, she cussed him and threatened him too before she got in her car. When my friend picked up the trash she left, the lady got out of her car and walked up on him cussing him, calling him "evil" and "Satan", and put her finger in his face and pushed him too. My friend called the cops and she drove off.
The lady drives a blue Hyundai Venture. She's roughly 5'7ish, wears glasses, and has brunnette/black hair. If you see this lady, be careful and check on your animals.
I talked about it with people at the IGA, and apparently she does this with other people, not just my friend's family. The people I talked with at the IGA think she is on drugs, but that part is just hearsay.
I just wanted to warn people in the community about someone that could be a threat to your animals, and could be trespassing on your property to litter and do God knows what else. Stay safe out there!

BG Horror Club Movie - Thursday, July 9th @ 7:00 PM Event Horizon
Well, folks, looks like we're blasting off into the void again. Paul W.S. Anderson took a swing at cosmic dread and somehow made a movie so dark the studio didn't know what to do with it, come watch the chaos unfold on the big screen.
Movie: Event Horizon (1997) - Rated R
Date: Thursday, July 9th @ 7:00 PM
Location: The Capitol - 416 E Main St, BG, KY
Plot: A rescue crew is sent to investigate the Event Horizon, a starship that disappeared during its maiden voyage and has mysteriously returned. As they explore the vessel, they discover it has brought something back, something alive, malevolent, and eager to consume them.
Runtime: 96 min
Did you know? The "hell" sequences got so intense that Anderson had to cut nearly 30 minutes of footage just to avoid an NC-17 rating. That lost footage is supposedly floating around somewhere, but honestly? What made it to theaters is disturbing enough. You're welcome.
Our movie nights are free. If you enjoy the club, donations help keep things running.
Bring a friend. Bring a priest. Just don't forget to check out BGHorrorClub.com for all the gory details.
