I found this nifty poison today. Some other things as well along with it.

After 3 years of searching my spot I finally found my first intact hutch just sitting in the mud and then to my shock a second one just feet away! Also found this cool circle slug crown top with a horse!

ive always been extremely interested in this hobby, but this was my first time doing it! i got the chance today as a part of my job for a conservation crew :)

all of these were in a riverbed of a wetland that’s been a pretty historic unofficial dumping ground since the 1800s.

Can anybody explain to me what this might have been used for?

One says Castor.. Castor oil? The rest no clue.

Found this embossed Advance Bottling Co. bottle in the Illinois River in Peoria, IL.
I went down a rabbit hole and my best guess is it’s an early soda bottle from around 1913-1917, but I can’t find much about the company itself.
Does that date seem right? Has anyone come across Advance Bottling Co. before or know anything about its history?

Found this Soda Bottle Fragment from a Soda Company founded in Augusta GA 1850s- Early 1900s. however, I found it in the river bed by an old textile mill in northern England. Pretty cool evidence of the trans Atlantic cotton/textile trade.

A snippet of the history of the strong glass bottle. In 1633 Sir Kenelm Digby, was experimenting with glass production, and received a visit from a former manager of Sir Robert Mansell’s glassworks, James Howell. Digby knew Howell through his acquaintance with Mansell from Navy days although they were not friends. Howell wanted Digby to apply some of his wondrous Powder
of Sympathy to a wound he had sustained breaking up a duel. Astonishingly (from today’s perspective), the powder worked its magic and a friendship was forged.
They discovered that the heat of a coal fired furnace could be increased further by using tunnels to draw in oxygen and that the higher the temperature, strong glass could be produced. After the proclamation by James 1st in 1615 banning the use of charcoal several including Mansell had tried coal fired glass furnaces but could not make it successful. (to be fair, the flues were coupled with a change in formulation of the mix).
Under licence from Mansell who had had a former glassworks here at Newnham on Severn, Digby reopened and modified the furnace, making glass bottles for cider initially. The trade soon located to larger centres but there is still an area called Glasshouses and a public house in the area called the Glasshouse

Found this weird rim pattern on a piece of old glass any clues to how old it might be (I'm guessing 1930 to maybe 1950?)

Found in a creek in Southeast Pennsylvania

I was metal detecting today in western PA / North eastern OH and i came across a bunch of these bottles in the woods. Im not sure about the year or if I should clean them? Any value or just junk? Some of them say youngstown OH and one of them say Sharon PA. But no year.

I found these two bottles today in Maryland. I will be going back because I found Hutchinson fragments so I think a whole one exists somewhere there. Otherwise here are the kool bottles found today!

The only markings I see are the 8 oz on front, a faint circle on the bottom, and small bumps on the corners and top-middle.

Could only see a small bit of it at first then dug it out. Still got the cork in it! Any ideas on year? There isnt a date on the bottom of it.

I have an old dump I’ve been digging out on a ravine on my property, which is some distance from the farmhouse on the land. This little guy however is by said farmhouse! Is it a well? A privvy? I’m gonna dig it but curious what your guesses are on what kind of structure would have this small but well-built of a footprint.

Found these by chance in a river bed by an old Mill can anyone date these for me?
