Roscrea is now actively looking for QA Testers!

Post image
271 Upvotes

Attention everyone! Sailors and wanderers, adventurers and pilgrims! Have you ever dreamt of travelling to the northern shores of Roscrea, ruminating on the mighty quests and thinking of the hearty stews and comfortable hearths? Over the last months, Roscrea has made incredible strides, and we're closer to release than ever. And while the Northern Stallion is not setting sail quite yet, Roscrea is looking forward to take the next step towards that final departure across the Sea of Ghosts.

Roscrea is now actively looking for QA Testers!

We need you (yes, you! The one with the nose) to help us find every floating rock, jittery tableware, every typo and every game-breaking bug. QA Testers are, essentially, those that make sure that everything works as intended - a role indispensable for game development.

To that end, QA Testers will comb through the lands, probing, exploring, investigating, and even inspecting everything. You are expected to provide level designers with clear feedback in regards to the level design, to inform implementers of wonky scripts or bugs, to point out typos to the writers, and show 3D Artists visible seams in meshes and textures, or point out faulty collision. You will be able to explore Roscrea, yes, but we need you to have pen and notepad at the ready, so to speak.

If you wish to join us, check out the Roscrea QA Test! Similarly to Cyrodiil, we wanna make sure you got what it takes. Simply follow the instructions on the document.

That does not mean that QA is all that's left - no! Roscrea nearing the finish line, ever so slowly. At the moment, we are in dire need of both Interior & Exterior level designers, as well as Implementers. In addition, we are still looking for 3D artists and Sound Designers to complete any remaining tasks.

Who are the provincial or regional leaders in the respective provinces?

Just to explain why I want to know this. I am currently writing about a character who has already traveled across Tamriel and dealt with various nobles and the like. This character will be one of many I’ll be playing Beyond Skyrim with.

So, here is my actual question. Do we already know, by name and title, who will be ruling the various provinces? For instance, I know that Morrowind has the Great Houses, but who are the leaders of the differant houses? There are several kings in High Rock, but who are they? Is there a High King? Do we know their names? Who rules Hammerfell? Is the land divided between the Crowns and the Forebears? Things like that.

Presumably, not too much is known yet, but perhaps there is some information available, so I would be grateful for any details. Many thanks in advance, and have a wonderful day, wherever you happen to be!

How is progress?

Upvotes

Just curious how progress is going. It's been a few months since the last Cyrodiil update video on YouTube. Also a question, I heard the Skyblivion team are making the Imperial city's districts bigger, will you be doing the same, as your Cyrodiil is technically bigger than the one in Oblivion?

And how is progress for the other projects? I'm most interested in Roscrea and the New North but am still interested in hearing about the other projects as well.

I appreciate the answers.

Have the projects that are farthest along already cast every role?

It's kind of vague and contradictory. Roscrea and Morrowind both have the red "voice actors" tag left on them on the volunteer page. But the application form insists on 'casting calls' of which those projects don't have anything listed on the provided link. The Argonia call is the only one that's still up, but it's weeks past the deadline and Argonia doesn't even have the red tag left over.

Madness. Pandemonium! How's a gal supposed to volunteer in these conditions?!

I was exploring the area of the Jeralls north of Frozen Grotto and found an Ayleid Ruin that seems to be inhabited by goblins, and there's what seems to be Steel-Blue Entoloma dye on the rock which makes me think of the Blue God quest which was added by the Goblins CC. Is that the connecting point that one of the devs mentioned will connect the Rift to County Cheydinhal as an alternate entry point?

I decided to see how much further the Rift is and saw Riften, Goldenglow, Treva's Watch, and Darklight Tower loaded in but only as far-off objects for obvious reasons. I didn't expect that y'all would include that seeing as this is a CYRODIIL mod and we're not even really supposed to see Skyrim lol

So, will the Daedric Princes appear in any meaningful capacity?

The Daedric princes are always my favorite parts of any Elder Scrolls game. Doing various mischiefs in the name of Madness or Forbidden Knowledge. It would obviously necessitate recasting them, so I could certainly see *why* they might not appear.

But the Princes all have different voices and even genders sometimes, and gosh darn it, it would make me so happy to know the teams have said "to hell with it" and have pencilled in meaningful encounters with the Royal Pantheon. Meeting incarnations of Sanguine for another pub crawl, or starting some gnarly plague with Peryite, it's all always a ton of fun.

Heck, all quests with higher powers are always fun. The Roscrean pantheon will, I'm certain, be just as engaging, and probably much deeper. But Daedra. Oh, my kingdom for the Daedra.

And of course in the background our numerous rocks, grasses, the interior of the farmhouses and some miscellanious clutter from previous years

Across Cyrodiil, the maple trees that dominate areas such as the West Weald have previously been shown in their red variant. The new maple trees showcased here represent the diverse flora of the Imperial Province, with new textures that reflect the various colors of these trees. These new maple tree variants were created by Disrecord, Cyrodiil's Lord of Trees.

Wayshrines of Tamriel - BS Bruma Patch

Is there any possibility that someone can make a patch that puts a Wayshrine near Bruma that connects with the ones at Helgen and Falkreath? I heard the mod was pretty much abandoned a decade ago, but the infrastructure of the mod is there. In terms of lore reasons, if the Dwemer could span from Resdayn to Volenfell and the Ayleids had a small presence in southern Skyrim, I think it would be fair that the Falmer had a presence in the Jeralls. Somewhere in the wilderness among the frozen trees between Bruma and Apple watch, maybe. Please and thank you.

I forgot to check if somebody already asked for this before writing, but considering that I searched on Google and they're not even slight references to anyone wanting it, I just went ahead and started writing.

Goblin Clutter

Post image
157 Upvotes

Across Cyrodiil, the various goblin tribes dwelling across ruins, caves, and other former bastions of civilization have often adopted their own primitive form of culture through trophies, totems, and urns. These small pieces each highlight a different form of life for a goblin tribe, perhaps honoring the dead, or parading the skeleton of a worthy opponent. Each of these pieces of clutter shows the variation that can be found within goblin tribes across the land and the deep history each tribe can hold. These pieces of goblin clutter were created by M'aiq Tysonn.

Sardavar Leed

Sardavar Leed is one of many Ayleid Ruins scattered across the province of Cyrodiil, echoing the former dwellings of the once-dominant rulers of the Heartland, or “Cyrod,” in the ancient Ayleid tongue. Sardavar Leed specifically preserves the grim history of Saint Alessia’s life as a slave within these ruins. The dungeon itself has been sacked and stripped of the prestige of the Ayleid Empire’s era of power, and now it holds the corpses of its former masters, who have become slaves to the defense of the ancient dungeon. When adventurers discover Sardavar Leed in Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil, it will be connected to one of our two main questlines. What is left of this former prison? Only those who can reach the end of this dungeon can know for sure. This dungeon was created by Em.

Morrowind Steel Set

Though less common than their bonemold counterparts, steel weapons are not unheard of in Morrowind. These are used mainly by Houses Redoran and Sadras, due to their proximity to the relatively iron and corundum-rich Velothi mountains. Though a more foreign smithing material, these steel weapons have a distinct Dunmeri character in both shape and decoration. This set was concepted by Jhzargo, modeled and textured by Zuurm, and grunged by Sym.

Question to BS:Cyrodiil Devs #3: DLCs Integration

While playing BS: Bruma, I was surprised to find that if you bring the Tyranny of the Sun in Cyrodiil worldspace, the NPCs in Bruma don't react to it at all. I dug deeper and found out that the player also won't be able to use their DLC achievements—such as slaying vampires or restoring order to Solstheim—as grounds for legal entry into Cyrodiil.

Question: Will such shortcomings be fixed in the release version? Will the DLCs be linked to mods in any way—for instance, by allowing a quest to be started from a different province or under different circumstances?

Hoods of Cyrodiil

Priests and mages are often seen throughout the cities of Cyrodiil, donning robes and hoods that match their pious and inquisitive natures. These new hoods are designed to accompany the mage robes and help accommodate any acolyte or scholar seeking to cover their head whilst in prayer or skimming through research notes. Both the monk hood and the mage hood displayed below were designed by Argor

Bleaker's way

Bleaker’s Way Camp reflects the unfortunate reality that, even in periods of peace, civilization in Cyrodiil can still be brought to ruin. Through the damage from local threats, this camp now stands as a graveyard of former Imperial life. Infested with goblins who have used the ruins as a base to raid nearby groups, the former buildings have decayed and lost their roofs, leaving little evidence of their past owners. Adventurers can be expected to challenge the new inhabitants and bring retribution to those who once dwelt here. This camp now includes parts of our updated goblin clutter set, bringing it in line with the other goblin camps which can be found across Cyrodiil. Level design was done by RoastGorilla439.

Is the storage in Lakeside Retreat safe?

Doing another run through of Bruma aiming to do every quest and dungeon before moving on to Skyrim and it is going far better now I've found Razzawhatever sells spells and there is a useable enchanting table in Frostfire Crag.

Safe storage is still a problem though as I am a packrat who collects everything with value/weight above the square root of PC level (so >1 for 1-3, >2 for 4-8, >3 for 9-15 etc) and then there's all those herbs I'll never see in Skyrim...

So does Lakeside Retreat in Bruma have safe storage?

Suggestion

One thing that came to mind was the mod undeath remastered and the 2 add ons I have for it. The "immersive" way the journey starts courtesy of classical lichdom is finding a note in the silverblood in. However the first quest is a cart on the side of the road with dead necromancers and dead vigilant of stendarr members. One note that clues you into what happened informs you that the vigil of stendarr confiscated an artifact from the college of whispers (pretty sure it's the tome of unlife). Given that the college of whispers will be a joinable faction, seeing BS cyrodill tie into undeath remastered would be much more immersive then finding a note in markarth.

Gromm's pass

Gromm's Pass represents one of the various goblin caves located across Cyrodiil. Bordering Skyrim, it represents a frequent menace to Imperial and Nord alike due to the fortified nature of the cave, making it a troublesome task to rid the area of goblins completely. When adventurers find this cave, they should be prepared to fight a host of goblins united by clan and tamed beasts that seek to ensure Gromm's Pass remains under goblin control. This dungeon was created and implemented by RoastGorilla439.

Whatever project releases next, I hope it dedicates a substantial amount of time to bugfixing before releasing.

It seems that most big Bethesda game mod expansions run into issues with bugs on release to the point that it sometimes isn't even worth it to many players to play on release, like Fallout London for example.

IIRC, Bruma launched in quite a buggy state as well, and when I played it a few months ago, nearly a decade after release, it still had a number of bugs. I encountered three bugged quests personally, and quests like A Stormcloak in Chains seem to still be consistently bugged for many players.
