Megathread 2026 Ann Arbor Housing Megathread

Welcome to the r/AnnArbor Housing Megathread!

Whether you’re an incoming student, a long-time townie, or a new professional moving to the area, finding housing in Ann Arbor can be notoriously competitive.

To keep the main subreddit feed clean and make it easier for everyone to find what they need, all housing-related posts must go in this thread.

This is the place to post if you are:

  • Looking for an apartment, house, or room to rent.
  • Looking for a roommate.
  • Offering a sublet or lease transfer.
  • Asking general questions about specific property management companies, neighborhoods, or the Ann Arbor housing market.

(Note: Surrounding areas in Washtenaw Country like Ypsilanti, Dexter, Saline, and Milan are completely welcome here too!)

Useful links:

  • /r/UofM Subreddit: If you're looking for student housing, you'll have more luck with their corresponding annual housing megathread.
  • U-M Off-Campus Housing Website: Useful for students and faculty looking for verified listings and roommates.
  • Ann Arbor Tenants Union: Resources for renters' rights, lease disputes, and dealing with property management companies.
  • City of Ann Arbor Rental Resources: The official city hub outlining Ann Arbor rental laws, including the Early Leasing Ordinance (which dictates when landlords can ask you to renew) and how to file habitability complaints with the city inspector.

Obsessed with this stuff…. Tried it in late April then left town for a couple months and now haven’t seen it anywhere… I even go in gas stations randomly just to check but no luck.

Has anyone seen it recently?! Only looking for the zero sugar version. Thanks in advance for any leads!!

A small ask. Buy/borrow hose adapter.

Neighbors- please help.

I have an Intrex portable whirlpool spa, and I need to pack it up this week. To do that right, I need to inflate, then deflate it.

I’ve lost the proprietary hose.

It’s cheap to replace, but I need one sooner than it will arrive.

Can you loan/sell me yours?

SKU: 11830, Spa/cover Inflation Hose

Where are y'all getting your retainers and how much did they cost?

I didn't wear mine for a bit and now they don't fit, but I want to stop my teeth from moving anymore. My orthodontist quoted me like $500 for clear top and bottom retainers.

Cat Groomer

Never thought I’d honestly be asking this question but we adopted a Siberian kitten and I’d love opinions on any local cat groomers, if needed. Thanks!

How to get rid of e waste?

We had like 4 boxes of e waste cords, remotes, space heaters, etc. and took it to the
Recycle Drop-Off Station and they quoted us like $70 to dump 3 heaters, a printer, and a dehumidifier (just those alone not the other 3 boxes worth of stuff) and wanted us to individually tally up every cord and random piece of junk and sort the bins ourself. We don't really want to pay that much just to dump it off especially when we have to sort and count each thing. Anyone know a cheaper/easier place for e waste? Probably 50%+ of the cords and remotes would still work for something we just don't have the time to sort it all and don't want to pay probably $150+ to recycle it. Thanks

Escooter friendly trails/scenic rides?

Hey everyone, I just got a new personal escooter that I've been having a ton of fun with and I'm hoping anyone with some knowledge or experience could point me in the direction of some places I could legally or at least without hastle ride my escooter at, like specifc trails or scenic paths. I've been looking into all the city ordinances and laws regarding escooters or electric skateboards being the class they fall into and I'm just finding a lot of conflicting information or none at all. It seems like the B2B trail is a no go and I'm not really finding anything else. I live in Ypsilanti but I'm often in Ann Arbor as well so either or. Any info would be greatly appriciated.

Plaster repair recommendations (or drywall folks who can work with plaster)

We’re planning a couple of projects this year (HVAC and plumbing) that will involve opening up some of our plaster walls, and we’re looking for someone who can come in afterward and patch everything back up.

Ideally we’re looking for someone who works with plaster, but if you’ve had a drywall contractor do a really seamless repair on plaster walls, I’d love those recommendations too. (A handy friend of mine mentioned that you can potentially just drywall over the spots).

The areas aren’t huge—probably where an old attic fan is being removed and a section behind a bathroom sink—but we’d like someone who can make the repairs blend in well.

Any recommendations (or people to avoid) would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone know where to have a car lifted to be repaired?

My father and I do car services ourselves and we need to have the car lifted but level as we're changing the differential and PTU fluids. Anyone know a place that allows us to lift the car up? We can't use ramps* as it has to be level.

Edit: Clarification, we don't have a jack nor jack stands yet as we don't want to cheap out now and have the car fall on me lol.

Best Spa Package Option for Wife's Birthday

My wife is a doc at UoM and the VA and travels from our house out near Brighton. She very infrequently goes for things like this so doesn't have a favorite. I'm looking for a place that I can get a nice package at without crazy time restraints (her schedule is always in flux and very hectic) and isn't high pressure about monthly package stuff. Anywhere from Brighton to A2 is something she could work into a side trip for an afternoon to relax. Any suggestions on places you love?

What happened with Avalon?

Just saw that Avalon is permanently closed, with some of their dishes moving to Pretzel Bell’s weekend menu. Anybody know what happened? Such a bummer, seems like the closing was sudden. Would have loved one last brunch!

Summer Game Bus Tracker

If you play the Library Summer Game, and you're still trying to get the code on the side of the bus, I built a little real-time location tracker for all buses that have the code: https://summergamebus.com/

If you're curious how it works, a few friends and I just noted down the bus IDs whenever we saw a summer game bus in the wild, and then I use the same API that TheRide's track bus website uses: https://www.theride.org/maps-schedules/track-bus

Hope you enjoy, and happy code hunting!

Construction at Observatory and East Medical Center Dr

The construction flow makes no sense in the area. Multiple lights with not allowing traffic to turn. It doesn't seem like they are basing this on traffic flow since I'm most often coming and going at peak hospital times. Do they not understand that's a major entry point to the hospital? I've had multiple families delayed to appointments. I know construction and delays around the hospital aren't new but this feels especially worse and with no logic.

Resources or classes to learn 16mm movie photography?

Are there any classes available to the public in Ann Arbor (i.e., not exclusively for university students) that would teach me to operate a 16mm movie camera? I'm aware that it's expensive, time consuming and complicated -- that's why I'm looking to be taught rather than muddle through with youtube tutorials etc.
