Discussion Missy Cooper

Missy is such an empathetic person, in S5, E21 Mary and George had an argument about Pastor Rob and the call from Sheldon’s uni makes Mary tear down. At the dinner table, Missy says “ and bless mom “ 🫠♥️
Such a wholesome character.

Question Why is Sheldon considered a goody two shoes when his behavior was worse than Missy’s?

Everyone’s like ohhhh Missy is such a brat. Sheldon literally did all the same things. He was moody, talked back, gave everyone attitude, cut class, lied on many occasions, ran away from home multiple times, threw fits until he got his way. But oh my god how dare Missy? Like they acted like she was the only issue in that family but Sheldon was literally just as bad for the same reasons. If not worse

Discussion Your top 3 favourite characters in Young Sheldon/Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage (spoilers)

There are a lot of cool and interesting characters and I love how neither show was never explicitly about the titular character(s)

My favourite ones are definitely

  1. Connie: Played by a charismatic actress, she and her endeavours are beyond entertaining, she is "quirky", badass, cool, a bit rough around the edges but also can be loving and heartfelt.
  2. Missy: She was also played by a talented actress, and watching her develop from a sweet insightful and emotionally intelligent kid into an teen angst-filled edgy troublemaker that still possesses all of her best childhood qualities was one of the best parts of the show.
  3. Georgie: During the early seasons of the show, it was easy to overlook this guy, but as the show went on and the focus was more equally shared between all characters, the writers definitely did him right with intriguing storylines and a shining charismatic personality.

Personally I would’ve loved to see more of the neighbor who recognized Sheldon as a little Carl Sagan on Halloween.

Question Has anyone realised than Mandy is a Baby Boomer

She gives off lots of millenial vibes, specially in the spin off but she was actually born on 1963 making her a late baby boomer

Discussion The flash to all of the characters from TBBT was so well written

It’s my favorite scene from the whole show. The attention to detail is crazy. The kids the casted were SPOT ON them as adults. My favorite part is how Leonard’s listening to it too. They were in sync before they even knew each other. The design of Pennys room and even the way she was sleeping was so accurate her character. I love that they took into account timezones and when they flashed to Raj in India, it was light outside. I just love this scene so much. It always makes me cry

What is one small moment from the show that you think deserves more appreciation..

There are plenty of big emotional scenes that everyone remembers but I feel like some of the quieter moments are just as memorable. A simple conversation or a funny interaction can end up sticking with you long after the episode is over. Looking back at the series there are so many little scenes that do not get talked about enough. Which underrated moment do you always think of when someone mentions Young Sheldon and why did it stand out to you..

Picture of Mary and George when young / dating

I was rewatching the show again, and I made it to the funeral episode, at the end when sheldon is saying the final lines of the episode, I noticed this picture of what I can only assume is Mary and George when they were young

Opinion Meemaw's Universe

I hope there is a spin off series dedicated to Annie Pots playing as Meemaw. I find her the most entertaining. It would be wonderful if we could see her POV in life, esp that she's an old woman. I really love her character in Young Sheldon, and I get excited when she's guesting in Georgie & Mandy.

@ChuckLorre if you're reading this.. do it now

Georgie looked soooo young in here man, I always thought montana was like 12 and thought it was weird he was playing a supposed hschooler lmfao. But I guess he was just a late bloomer cus he looks like a kid while being 15 during filming

Also felt really bad for him, miracle he turned out alright despite being known as a "dumb brother"

my fav part of Mary will always be how quick she is to defend sheldon esp in the church, she always stands up for her kids and lets them be them.

Sheldon was the funniest and very unpopular opinion but that continued all throughout the show.

Flaw

Has anyone else noticed this small flaw? I was rewatching season one right after I rewatched the whole thing, in one episode Sheldon mentioned that in two years time mr givens would be principal. Sheldon is 9 in season one, and according to Google he's 13 turning 14 in season 7, yet mr givens would of been principal when he was 11, so???? Did they scrap it completely? Or just forget?

Its so sad that Missy was always left out even after being such a good kid. I had already felt it in s1 but Missy saying it out loud in the research study just confirmed how alone she feels even after having 2 siblings

I now realise why i dislike Georgie and mandy's first marriage

It's just a sitcom with no twist other than here you loved this character in the previous show now watch his life theres no twist theres no weirdness

Tbbt had sheldon and lenord and the at the time new concept of mainstream nerd stuff like comics , star trek etc

Young sheldon had the contrast of sheldon and his pears vs the texas values

Georgie and mandy has none of that It's just a high school dropout in an American town living with his wife's parents and working at a store his father in law owns with typical sitcom situations

Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis

Post image
359 Upvotes

Anybody else kinda disappointed at how Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis' relationship disminished over the course of the show?

Dr. Sturgis was introduced as the one person who truly *got* Sheldon. Like Sheldon, he was a socially awkward genius but unlike him, was actually very amicable and kind-hearted. He was a good mentor figure. Then when Sheldon got into East Texas Texh, Dr. Strugis was sidelined which was (understandly) done to make Sheldon's transistion into college harder, leaving the hapless Dr. Linkletter to take Sturgis' place. While Sheldon and Linkletter's dynamic was undoubtably entertaining and necessary, they didn't have the same meaningful bond.

Towards the end of the show, Sturgis became less of an individual character as his role was merged with Linkletter's into double act of stuffy old professors compared the now-teenage Sheldon.

The very last interaction Sturgis has with Sheldon is him giving his condolences over George's death and Sheldon ignoring him. I get that Sheldon is closing himself off due to grief, but I wish the two had more of meaningful final interaction before Sheldon went off to Caltech since Sturgis was such an important part of his personal and academic development.
