That's not true. Gross margins only account for COGs. Those aren't the only expenses for running a business.

Very specifically did all the way back in 1916 with Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism.

Nothing has fundimentally changed in the dynamics since then. We can try to pin the blame on some modern laws or the loosening of them but this is just the natural progression of Capitalism.

and as such, attempts to break up big business or revert to a “smaller” capitalism are definitionally a conservative cause. the era of small business is over, the historically logical answer to the problems of monopoly capitalism is not to break up the monopolies but something else🤔wonder what it could be

Lenin thought he was in late stage capitalism and the impending collapse of capitalism was going to happen after world war 1 in the 1920s. Just like marx thought it would happen in the 1890s, German socialists swore it would be in the 1930s, stalin swore the collapse would come in the 1950s, Khrushchev in the 1970s, and Kim Jung Un says it will happen any day now.

Republicans and the SCOTUS killed any real antitrust in this country decades ago. We used to break up companies that controlled too much until about the 80s.

It was all part of their plan for total corporate and state control over us. Companies that are too big to fail hand in hand with the US government in their mission to fuck over consumers and citizens jointly, to leverage the economic and political power of the state and corporate world like a cudgel.

The market works...when you let it work. Instead we let the "winners" pull up all ladders with state help to hold us all hostage. Antitrust used to be a thing until it wasn't.
