My son is looking to join a gym. He's thinking of either Kingfisher or the SETU Arena gym. We don't know anything about either of them so any advice would be appreciated.

My son is basically in all summer, when he tries to meet school acquaintances they're never available.. He finds it hard to make friends.. Is there anyone else who has a son in the same position aged 14 , seems younger than what he is but he doesn't have friends and it's so hard to see him in waiting on screens all summer..please no cruel replies unless you've a son in the same situation​. he has a heart condition and cant do martial arts..

I’m looking for some nice airbnb or different hotel experience stays. Something like glamping pods but nothing through the roof either price wise. A hot tub option preferred but not against not having the option.

I’m finding it really hard to look for them on Airbnb as you have to put in dates and my dates are flexible so I’m only seeing what’s available for that time.

And at least I can get recommendations for where people have stayed so I know what to expect.

I've lived in Waterford for so many years and I've noticed a significant change in the makeup of some of our public spaces recently — particularly in People's Park. When I visited People's park after long time, there seems to be a large number of new arrivals, many of whom appear to be from asylum seeker accommodation, gathering in the area, women with distinct attires in groups with kids etc.

I'm not opposed to people seeking safety, but I have genuine concerns:

Integration: It feels like parallel communities are forming rather than people integrating into the broader Waterford community. When groups are large, self-contained, and visibly distinct, it can feel alienating for long-term residents who no longer recognize their own neighborhood spaces.

Resources: Are our parks, community centers, and local services equipped for a sudden population increase? I've seen overcrowding at times and wonder if the council has a plan.

Safety perception: I'll be honest — when large groups of men I don't recognize gather in a park, I feel less comfortable bringing my own family there. That's not about race or religion specifically; it's about unfamiliarity and the lack of visible integration.

My fried 20F and myself 19F are looking to move to Ireland for a 12 month gap year. We’re just gauging different cities to look into and wanted to see what Waterford is like from a local perspective!
What’s the social / nightlife like? Many young people here?
We’re looking to work in hospitality, preferably bar work with live in accommodation, for this we would have high availability with the hopes of having a few days off, consecutively together to explore.
Or, would any nursing homes / disability services offer accommodation? I have 3+ years experience in this field and would be happy ti become certified overseas if my Australian certification is not valid.
And just any tips / personal insight on living here would be much appreciated! thank you!!

Just landed back in America after what I have to say was one of the best weeks of my life. I was there for the World Games as a mentor for Appalachian Alliance camogie. Your city was so welcoming that I felt the need to list all the things that made this trip special:

1. The Granville Hotel and all the staff. Fiona made certain all our ladies had everything they needed 100% of the time. Macy and Isaac behind the bar were awesome letting me practice my cupla focal. The rooms were cozy and the beds were comfortable.

2. Szymon at Noga Tattoo. He did great work on my leg and was surprisingly easy to work with getting around our match schedule.

3. The food and drink was great. Had the beef and Guinness hot pot at The Gingerman, and myself and one other person could not finish it. I learned quickly that HUGE portion sizes are a thing, like way more food than in America. Geoff’s chicken curry was the best I’ve ever had. Magic Wok’s spice bag was class, and also WAY too much food. Good fish and chips at The Reg.

4. The pubs. I visited the Thomas Francis Meagher (at the Granville), Geoff’s, TK Walsh, Tullys, Tom Mahers, O’Sullivans, and The Reg. All were great. Huge shout out to Tully’s for the €1 off my pint of Ri-Ra for ordering as Gaeilge. Top scores for Tom Mahers for having Beamish. We don’t have it in America and I think I like it better than Guinness.

Overall, last week was unforgettable, and we will definitely be returning to Waterford. If anyone feels like sending me a few cases of Lucozade energy, that’d be grand. Really great city you lot have.
