Lost a ticket first day on the floor

Lowkey freaking out. Apparently I did very good, had several people ask my schedule to come back to see me. Even the tables I messed up on gave generous tips. Grill operator told me I was doing really good. Everything was great, I wasn't even super exhausted (3rd shift). Then fucking doom. One ticket missing. Not in anybody elses box. Not on the ground. Not on the counter. I informed two managers, several waitresses. Put on my ticket book it's missing and which one (very unprofessionally beside several star and face doodles). Did accidentally give myself .50 cents (used the To-go menu prices to figure out the meal thing, had no clue that it was priced up).

Am I screwed :[? I was doing so well too. I have no idea even when the ticket occured because it was an early ish one where everything was super slow. They promised they'd check the drop box and cameras because like, I was the main one putting the 20s in the box. I just feel so icky now. Are they gonna fire me immediately?

Edit: Also anxiety is up because my manager immediately told me "that's a really big deal. it looks like you're stealing" l

My paycheck

Post image
14 Upvotes

I have started working at Waffle House recently. It seems like the more credit tips I make the more is deducted. I don’t understand and I am extremely disappointed. I have started working 35 hours now and I don’t know how much next paycheck is going to be. They already pay their workers 6.25, I rely on the tips that gotten deducted and I’m pretty sure more than all my credits tips have disappeared off my paycheck. This is ridiculous and I’m kinda upset, and why should credit tips be Ben be treated as wage in the first place? Out of THEIR pocket they don’t pay their servers hardly anything, so I’m just looking for guidance.

Will this keep happening? I’m new to serving also. But this seems so cruel to take so much from an already low paycheck.

Maintenance tech…

I know it’s maintenance tech appreciate week but… ours kinda isn’t the best… I don’t know if it’s a thing for everyone but whenever he comes to fix something it’ll break right away and sometimes it feels like it’s things I could do myself. I’ve asked him to show me how to fix some things but he’ll refuse. Our sandwich unit lid is also broken and his solution was to stop opening and closing it. I tried explaining we close it to prevent ice build up and he cut me off and said he knew why but that doing that would just make it worse. It’s kinda like going to get you lock fixed and they say to just leave it unlocked just crazy

Sixteen top right before I go home

I was working 5-2 with a fever (couldn’t call in), and right as I’m about to go home a sixteen person party walks through the door. Not only am I told I can’t go home until they leave, but they tried giving them to me. Luckily one of my coworkers took them, but I took every other table that came in while they were dealing with that dumpster fire. It ended up being about a 45 minute wait for me to get meal tickets in.

Their ticket was close to $300, and the poor server who took them got tipped $5.

Moral of the story: If you have more than five people in your party, go the hell to Applebees.

Does anyone know where I can find the full official waffle house operations policy online? I want to read what my store is doing and not doing like they are supposed to.

Was told I was put on last chance?

I've been back at waffle house for over a year now and I recently had a transfer to another store because my manager said he didn't want me anymore. Keep in mind , I wanted to transfer because I needed to be at this store because it's within walking distance. A little back story just so i'm clear, ever since I started back to waffle house house , i've had pain in my feet and recently developed pain in my back. The doctor said I have bone spurs, then recently was told I also have gout. So weather I want to or not I have to sit down a lot because the pain is unbearable. I have gotten better but the pain is still there just more manageable. So after the transfer my coworker said my new district manager said "this is not a transfer or a promotion, This is a last chance". Shouldn't I have had to sign something? Just wondering what I need to do in this situation. Ive been at this store for 2 days now and have tried to be on my "A" game but my pain limits what I can do. I know I'm not perfect but feel mentally drained. And just to add im a cook and finally got back cooking a few weeks ago. The old unit manager had me serving until something opened up buy hired 8 cooks after me. Please I need advice or something.

Brought our friends from Germany to Waffle House last Sunday so they could experience this iconic American Restaurant. They were amazed. Our regular waitress, „Slim“ made them feel very welcome.

what should i do?

Last week I was training, last night was my first day on the floor with my own section. The sentiment was shared that I was doing good, it just was not ideal to schedule me for 9pm - 2am on a Saturday. I feel ridiculously unprepared, and I’m scheduled TONIGHT for another 9-2. My manager also never gave me her number. My friend said I should go up there today and say I can’t go in tonight, they also suggest switching to another WaHo entirely. Is Sunday easier and I can just suck it up tonight? I just really feel like I need to train more

Will Waffle House hard boil an egg for me?

I get my eggs either scrambled or over medium but my girlfriend and I were curious if I can get them hard boiled. If so, do they just drop a raw egg in boiling water and time it? I know there's a burner next to the grill and a small sauce pan in the kitchen because one of my favorite waitresses used to boil up her instant ramen on her lunch break. I work at a hotel and we get boxes of precooked hard boiled eggs delivered for the free breakfast, so maybe waffle house gets them precooked as well? I can't imagine i'm the first person to think about it and i'm sure someone somewhere has tried to order hard boiled eggs before. I'll hang up and listen

New Grad Unit Manager

A recruiter reached out to me about this position and I passed the virtual screening in zoom. I have my first in person interview scheduled next week. What should I expect from this interview? Also, since this will be my first job post college does this job look good on my resume and how easy it to get promoted? I already know about the 6 days on 2 days off but how bad really is the work life balance here? Any tips or suggestions drop them In the comments

Is being a server a decent job?

I have been looking for a job for months and I haven’t been able to get one, but I just put in an application to my local Waffle House and got an interview within five minutes. I was initially very happy until I found horror stories online from Waffle House servers who make way below minimum wage and don’t get enough tips to make up the difference. Is it worth working here or should I just keep looking for a better job?

Schoox training

No matter what I do, where I am, what device I use, Schoox always tells me I can’t do training from my location. I am sitting at the high bar at my unit, clocked in, using the unit tablet, and it tells me I can’t access training from this location. On my phone, on my laptop, at the unit I worked when my unit was being remodeled… anyone else have this issue, and how was it resolved? If I have to have my uppers up my butt about my training any more I’m gonna scream. This has been since March.

I think I broke the system…

Still sitting out front, amused a bit.

Went in. Ordered two eggs scrambled, a waffle and a grilled cheese with pickles in it.

I listened to her do her order to the cook… and he was like, “Wait, on the side?”

“No, like, put them IN the grilled cheese.”

“…grilled pickles?”

“No… just, pickles, cooked into the grilled cheese…”

“…what? Is he pregnant?”

Lolz.

“SIR! Do you want mayo?”

I decline.

He says it’s comin right up. Nailed the spot. Tipped them both a fiver.

What’s the correct way to give that order to the line?

Dear Waffle House Employees

You are amazing.

I travel all over the South and the one thing that consistently amazes me is how friendly, tasty, and affordable waffle house is no matter where I go.

I've eaten fancy steaks from Ruth Chris's and other places and they have nothing on the secret ingredient that's on my brekkie steak and eggs: love.

Throw in my blueberry waffle and for twenty something dollars I get a better filling and tastier meal than I would get at McDonald's for the same price. More importantly, it was made by people who genuinely seem to care.

Thank for you being a shining beacon of hope, deliciousness, and consistency in my otherwise hectic life.

WH-Targets / Harrasses Employees

The purpose of this post is if you don’t want Mental Health Issues - DO NOT WORK FOR Waffle House!

This is not me-an immediate family member…
Hired Feb 2025 - worked all shifts, picked up extra shifts at location and helped at other stores whenever needed.

March 2026 - manager started targeting, over and over again, with untrue allegations that were confirmed to be false by cameras (they record everything) and when a write up had to be discarded the MOD targeting got even worse and truly unbearable!

They dismiss drug use (weed) while working, but target a minority (not the minority you might think).

Then in July 2026 the TARGETING/HARRASSMENT started effecting mental health and when needed 2 hours off to go to doctor (using WH medical insurance) was told if they went to the appointment (already previously time off was approved) they would be FIRED.

Op went to the appointment and was FIRED!

In my opinion, i would not want to work for a company like that.

I know some people might say - I would gave changed jobs way before everything hot so bad.

Op had responsibilities and bills to pay and overall really liked the work...

Opinions…

Omelet Pan Question

Would any WH GRILLMASTERS out there be able to help me out and let me know the exact pan that’s used to fix omelets? I know they are either Wear Ever (old blue handle pans) or Eaglewear but I don’t know the size. I was told years ago how to make them and even have a milkshake machine to aerate the eggs before flash cooking it on oil in the pan.

I’m hoping someone can give me the model number stamped into the pans bottom or at the very least the diameter of the pan. I was told it had to be a 9” pan, which are rare and quite hard to find a decent one. I’m guessing it’s not a 9” pan from the other post but I want to be sure. Model number of the pan would be awesome.

Randomly was inspired the other night on a slow 3rd shift to play around with the flavor syrups and the 50/50 creamer cups. May I present, Dirty Coke. Consists of 3-4 pumps of Vanilla syrup and two creamers. Looks pretty and then when you mix it…not so much. Still very good though!

How Often Does Waffle House Online Merch Restock?

I moved to a state with no waffle house and saw you can buy some of their products on their website to cook at home. I love their grits, but they don’t sell them on their own like their other products so you have to buy them in a bundle with other products. That bundle is sold out. How long might I have to wait for it to be in stock? And yes, I know I can get other grits but I really want the waffle house package and such

Associate Helpline can't be reached from my area?

I worked at my local hobo fight club for all of a single shift before uber and lyft made continued employment impossible (no driver would accept the ride to the location for over six hours of waiting, and i am a 5 star rider on both apps). I wanted to quit day one because of all the red flags when it was revealed to me that the General Manager used to be the District Training Manager and "stepped down to get this location running properly," which is a clear indication that nobody in lower or middle management understands how EITHER of those two roles is supposed to operate...it started with what i suspect to be the crux of my current issue (still haven't been paid a month later) when despite doing all of the paperwork and setting me up in the apps at my interview, I was not yet in the system or able to clock in a week later at my first day. I have tried calling the location, she never calls me back. I have tried calling the associate helpline, i get an error message that states that number cannot be reached from my area (i only have a google voice VOIP line currently). I already know how long it will take to get the state involved (likely at least three months of arguing about the arbitration agreement before they even formally file the complaint)... for a company that has enough capital to have it's own record label, i expected MUCH less mickey mouse clubhouse tomfoolery and quite a bit more business acumen from the WH logo. Anyone have any of the contact information for district/area management in the Oklahoma City Metro so I can get this resolved and wash my hands of this bad tasting mistake?

Sections on 4 servers

Hi! I’m not sure how active this group is, but I had a question for anyone who’s worked for or still working for Waffle House! We recently got a new district manager (well like a year now) and they have been changing alot of things. One, includes the sections. I’m having a hard time getting into it because it seems extremely unfair. I wondering which of these is most similar to your store? Or what you think seems the most fair? Mind you our sections have not changed in probably over 20+ years.

The original way;
Section 1(A) booths 1,2, and counter seats 4-5
Section 2(B) booth 3, seats 6-9 and low bar seats 11-12
Section 3(C) booth 10, 17 seats 13-14
Section 4 (D) booth 18,19 seats 15-16

The “new” way
Section 1(A) booths 1-2
Section 2(b) booth 3 seats 4-9
Section 3(c) booth 10 , 17 seats 11-12
Section 4(d) booth 18-19 seats 13-16

The original way, we all had the same amount of seats. The new way, is all very different in the number of seats you have. Not to mention section 1(a) doesn’t change on 4/5 servers. You don’t gain or lose any seats if you add another server or lose a sever and I think that’s very unfair to whom ever is in that section. The only reason it got changed in the first place is ONE server who only works weekends complained about not liking being in section 2(a) because it was hard when it got busy. We have a lot of veterans of our store, myself included, and sometimes we do push on change I’ll admit it, but this is about things being fair. You’ve got a section with 8 seats and a section with 12 and I’m not understanding it at all. Are we all being hard headed or is this unfair?

Hopefully this makes sense 🤣
