I can't give it much of a review yet. Still need to get out and race it. Will probably do that tomorrow. But I can confirm that it feels really stiff and solid.

A few thoughts on the build:

The dropouts are a bit shorter than I'd like but they handle 60x14 to 62x19 fine with my chain length so that's a solid range of gears.

The little screws that hold the dropout plates in were loose when I built it up and that messed with me for a little while before I figured out why the wheel kept slipping and why I was losing tension.

The forks aren't nearly as wide as I expected given the wide seat stays.

I'm in the process of building up a track bike, and I'm considering building up this BXT 045 Track Bike. My only question/ concern with it is that it looks like the seat post clamps are round, and only compatible with circular aluminum saddle rails - not the ovalized rails of carbon saddles. Can anyone who owns this particular bike confirm or deny whether this is true, or if it comes with a clamp that can be used with carbon rails?

I’m building up my first track bike to get into the sport and have some nice 88mm deep lightbicycle carbon clincher rims laying around that I’m planning on building up with DT Swiss track hubs. The plan is to use this as my training wheelset.

I’ve been searching here and on other forums for recommendations regarding tires but have a hard time figuring out what to listen to.

I’m very partial to Continental tires and have seen people recommending gp5000 as well as gp5000 TT. But I’m a bit hesitant since the max pressures aren’t that high, 120 psi for the normal gp5000 and 109 psi for the TT. Should I be looking at a different brand instead or is the trend with lower pressures also starting to take root on the velodrome? I’m a heavy guy, 110-115kg, in case that is relevant for this discussion.

The rims I’m planning on using have a 18.82mm inner width and 26.54mm outer. In light of this I was thinking 25mm wide tires would be a good choice.

I’m willing to reconsider using these for my build if it is not the best choice. I know the tubular vs clincher on an indoor velodrome is a hot topic and I’m very open to hearing different perspectives.

I've been cycling for over a year now.

I started with a strong sprint (PR was in 06/2025) due to my powerlifting background.

I have been doing sprint training 2x a week (standing starts and rolling) for the last year but can't seem to get more while everything else has been going up steadily.

There is a velodrome near me but I would like to get some slightly higher numbers (so I can have a good base) before jumping in.

Any tips?

My home velodrome is outdoors, I’ll be visiting VSC in Carson California to do the advanced certification session and some training sessions.

With a Garmin cycling computer will it be able to pick up a GPS signal or is the recommended way to set it to indoor? Maybe it’s a dumb question but I’ve only ever used the indoor setting for workouts on a trainer or rollers.

Can you user tubular wheels on rollers for training or will it shorten the life of the glue?

Thought 💭 I read a small review of my new Bxt. Now just had my 4 th session on it yesterday, I’m coming from a Boardman track model. I sized up for longer and more aerodynamic position. I put wheels and handlebars from my Boardman on it. Only thing I changed is the crankset . A zrace , must say really nice made and finished. So far I love the bike , very stiff , is a size Xs , also when you dive from the railing to start a flying 500 the way the bike stays on course…. It’s like it’s on rails 😍😍😍

So I signed up to do a talent scouting session for the team gb youth development program and i would be really grateful for any advice you can give to help me prepare for it. it is on the 30th of june this year. I have moderate experience mountain biking and i ran cross country for my city last race season and i bike on my indoor trainer 1-2 times a week, if anyone has any advice on training or prep that I should do i would be very grateful for it, i know my chances of getting in are slim but i will try out every year until i am too old to.

I will be starting track cycling this fall but want to buy some essential equipment while traveling this summer (can get it cheaper that way). I’m a heavier rider at 100kg (220 lbs) and have more strength than endurance. I have commuted a lot on a fixie with 49/50x18 fairly comfortably in my very flat city.

What I am considering so far is to buy a range of 14-18T cogs (maybe 13 as well?) and then I am trying to decide which chainrings to pair with it. I considered just going with 52, 54 and 56. Want to buy as many cogs and chainrings as makes sense while I can get it cheaper, as stated before. Would love some input and advice.

Would also like to know if anyone has experience with Rotor NoQ chainrings? Or should I try to get something from a more track established brand? Not sure whether it makes sense to shell out for Velobike chainrings as a beginner.

I’ve noticed that almost all crank offering for track are alloy but there’s barely any carbon cranks.

For road you’d be mad to buy alloy cranks unless you had a serious budget constraint.

Is there a reason nobody uses carbon cranks on track? They’re nearly 100g lighter depending on builds etc and just as stiff. Looking to change my current cranks to rotor but it seems odd to pay that much for alloy. (Looks like carbon rotor cranks are no longer made in a 165mm)

I recently picked up a BXT TRC195 frameset. It hit the stack/reach numbers I was looking for without requiring a second mortgage, and after my first race day on an outdoor low-banked asphalt track, I'm pretty impressed.

The bike felt excellent. Acceleration was very snappy with both a rear disc and deep-section rear wheel, and the handling was agile and predictable at speed. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, although I'm also keeping an eye on the upcoming mid-level track frame from Velobike that Glenn has mentioned should be arriving later this year.

That said, I'm fighting one of the frame's well-known issues: seatpost slip.

The guys at Lametto Rose (fans of the BXT 195) suggested adding a piece of sandpaper to the wedge clamp, which helped somewhat, but the post still slipped 1–2 mm during hard efforts when I was really driving back into the saddle.

I obviously don't want to simply keep increasing torque and risk damaging the seat tube, so I'm looking for other solutions. My next steps are probably adding additional carbon assembly paste and either more sandpaper or a thin aluminum shim, as there seems to be a little extra clearance around the post.

Has anyone successfully solved the seatpost slip issue on one of these frames? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I’m looking to grab some clincher tyres to get me started on the indoor wooden velodrome for some training. I read somewhere that’s it’s not advisable to run cotton sidewalls on the track because if you accidentally ride on the sidewall there’s no grip? Is this true?

I was originally looking at Vittoria Corsa Speed Pro tyres but they’re cotton sidewall.

Any other recommendations for clincher tyres welcome!!! Was also looking at Conti GP5000 as an affordable tyre to run. I’m not racing currently so it doesn’t have to be the fastest tyres out there just not a dog.

I’m a track newbie figuring out stuff like gearing and strategy and going fast. Current bike is a pretty pedestrian Bianchi Pista from the mid aughts, but I’m having fun with it so far. I haven’t quite worked up the courage to enter a race yet, still building skill and comfort on this bike.

Anyway my question is about the brand Origin8. I know I’m going to have to upgrade my bike at some point, but for the time being this is what I have. I see a lot of stuff by Origin8 that’s relatively affordable, cranks, cogs, lock rings, seatpost, etc all seem to be pretty decent quality. Am I doing myself a disservice by riding this stuff? Should I be spending more and getting the good stuff?

Our board decided to not have USAC racing this year.

Because the motion did not receive a majority of the board, it failed.

"That the Board of Directors approve hosting USA Cycling sanctioned races at the San Diego Velodrome on weekend dates, as a one year trial for the 2026 season, subject to the following conditions:

Weekend only. USAC races are held only on weekend days. Any previously scheduled USAC races on Tuesday Night Racing are moved to weekend dates, with specific dates set by the racing committee. Tuesday Night Racing and Friday Night Racing remain unlicensed, open, and unchanged.

Opt in. No member or racer is required to hold a USAC license or take part. A license is needed only to enter a USAC sanctioned event.

Inclusive structure. The Women+ field at USAC events is administratively registered as an Open category and run locally as inclusive Women+ racing, so that trans women can continue to compete, scored the same as any other field, with any upgrade points applying in the same way.

Board control of dates. Specific race dates are approved as a reserved use of the track and remain subject to board approval each season.

Annual review. The program is reviewed at the end of the season on its own merits, including participation, safety, whether these conditions held, and a member verified survey."

What this means: the board will not consider USAC-sanctioned racing for the remainder of this year. Future boards may choose to consider it again at their discretion.

San Diego Velodrome Association

Hey all, i'm new here - I'm more of a road cyclist personally, but i've been riding virtual trainers for a while and noticed that it's always just us roadies in here doing zone 2 and the occasional criterium. So I poked around and found that there really isn't much "proper" virtual velodrome training and competing - with relevant draft and banking physics, and especially rider strategy.

So I thought it'd be interesting to build out a virtual velodrome and build some AI riders to see if I can join in to make it a race. For now, its just Keirin, and I have several rider archetypes built in, with individuals having a random variation of physical and strategic strengths and weaknesses, with decision-making based on agent-based modeling.

Since a lot of the strategic aspect of velodrome racing comes from positioning, i'm a little stuck on the best way to get players to "navigate" while they're riding. I know TrainingPeaks has it on auto + keyboard manual control but having to touch a keyboard while riding just doesn't feel right.

Any thoughts or feedback? Would anyone like to try connecting their setup to this and race the AI?

Specifically, aluminum that's fallen on the track. I realize there's many degrees of 'crash', but I just wonder if the conditions of the drome are enough to compromise a frame after a crash for good, or if track frames bounce back and are safe to ride or can expect a long life afterwards?

I think the attempt at film colouring at the end might be a bit jarring.

Anyone have experience on both? Stromm worth the extra money? Would be for a heavier rider over 200.
