Unimog in Vermont - Northeast Trails
Hello all!
We wanted to share a fun trail for any other NE Unimog owners. We ran Sucker Pond trail outside Bennington, VT in our Unimog last fall, and it randomly popped back up while we were researching more Vermont trails this week. It reminded me how much fun this one was.
If there are any other Unimog owners (or anyone with a built rig) in the Northeast looking for a good trail, this one is definitely worth checking out. It's rated 5/10 on the onX Offroad app and is only about 3 miles long, but don't let the length fool you. There are some massive bog sections with long stretches of standing water that made it a blast to drive. The Unimog's ground clearance definitely came in handy. The bottom of the bogs is rocky, not muddy, which really helps!
We even found an old abandoned cemetery on the other side of Bennington that was spooky to explore. Lot's of fun to be had in the area.
It's not the hardest trail you'll ever do, but it has enough water, mud, and interesting terrain to keep things fun without feeling overly technical. We'll probably end up running it again the next time we're in the area.
