There are 3 apps in Canada to help you save money by rescuing surplus food: Too Good To Go, Flashfood, FoodHero.
1) Too Good To Go app (TGTG)
2) Flashfood app (FF) [Canadian; head office Toronto]
TIP: depends on the store, but you can find deep discounts over 50% off, have to refresh the app a lot as new deals drop randomly. Example: This is a pic of the actual bag of mandarin oranges purchased (regular price $8.99, paid $3.49, 61% discount). The bag had one squished mandarin orange... peeled the skin off and it was still perfectly good to eat. The remaining mandarin oranges were good for several days past the pickup date.
For $5 off your first order (min $7 purchase), you may redeem Flashfood code: MARI5VC3N [or search this subreddit for other people's referral code that have posted photos of their FF pickups]

3) FoodHero app (FH) [Canadian; head office Montreal]
For a total of $10 off ($5 credit on your first order, then $5 credit on your second order), you may use FoodHero code: marias161 [or search this subreddit for other people's invite code who posted photos of their FH pickups]

Saw the recent posts saying that the mixed bag had been getting better at the Eaton Centre location and I can't say I'm mad! The chicken Milanese says it retails for $19 and the orzo salad retails for $8.99.

I will die on this hill that Chez Nous is the goat of TGTG in Vancouver. I truly haven’t seen anywhere doing it like they are 🥵 For $5.99 a bag (I was lucky enough to score two):
Raspberry Almond Babka ($7.5 x3)
Apricot Pistachio Pie ($8)
Hazelnut Chocolate Babka ($7.5)
Pecan Banana Pain au Chocolat ($8 x2)
And Lastly An Additional Chocolate Chip Cookie That I Found Hiding After I Took the Picture LOL ($5)
$59 haul??? And they’re selling it for $12??? No tax added on?? I consider calling it a day/ week whenever I’m lucky and agile enough to score a bag, let alone 2. Maybe I’ll go get a lottery ticket after I post this
I honestly am scared to visit them during regular hours, because if this is the “leftover”, then I don’t want to have a taste of what their fresh pastries might taste like. My bank account will simply hate me and cease to exist 🫠🆘🫣

Ordered 2 bags from this Pizzaiolo, at $7.99 per bag. Each bag has a declared $24 value. I've ordered here previously, and it was always 3 quality slices. Upon returning home, was shocked to discover there were only 2 slices in each bag. So 4 slices for $48 declared value, paying (with taxes) about $18.
Needless to say, i requested a refund, and it looks like it was granted. Looking at other Pizzaiolo's, it seems several are now $5.99 with a clarification that it is for 2 slices.
Sure feels like many sellers are moving towards maximizing profit. Way back many years ago, when Pizza Pizza was on board, there was a store not far from me that always had a high rating, so gave it a try. For one low priced bag, picked up 2 medium pizzas. It was very surprising. The worker explained that they gave away cancelled orders.
Several years later, everything I've ordered seems very precise/standardized. I definitely miss having a surprise bag that completely blows you away with quality/quantity.

No room for the store name in the title due to character limit, but this is from the No Frills at 75 Shuter Street in Toronto.
Not Too Good To Go, but a Flashfood haul that was well worth it.
I paid $40 total for these three packs of T-bone steaks, each pack has 2 steaks and weighed over 1 KG. The packs were priced on Flashfood at around $12-$13 each, so a 50-60% discount on the sticker price.
They were fresh when I picked them up, not frozen, which was a bonus.
One pack fed the fam tonight and oh my goodness these were some of the most tender and juicy steaks we have ever had. They were also absolutely gigantic, if you can't tell from the cutting board photo.
I need to check Flashfood more often because sometimes I totally forget it's there!

Two super extra large freshly squeezed juices. One was with celery and ginger and the other was with lemon. Super good. I'm really happy with this one. I think each of these would be about $15. So good value for $7. Both were full to the top with juice.

This was Forno Cultura location inside Union Station, and I received 2 sandwiches on a Saturday afternoon. There was no bonus bread loaf or sweets, possibly because I went relatively early within the 4 hour pick up time slot and they still had a few hours until closing. The original value of $24 was met, and $9 wasn’t bad for 2 bougie cold sandwiches pulled from the fridge.
That said, it’s unlikely that I’ll order in advance and make a trip for this bag. I may pick it up again if stars align - my person happens to be at Union, we need quick dinner or lunch next day, and bags are available for immediate pick up.

I got fish balls and winter melon in curry, soy chicken, and a siu mai on rice, the whole box was chilled. I guess they could call this 3 items on rice $20.85+$1 for a soy chicken surcharge. It’s met the advertised value.
When I picked it up, I was a bit underwhelmed by the portion, but after microwaving, I couldn’t tell if it was a day old: I liked the siu mai the best. The shrimp bits were still plump, it was legit.
This heritage location seems to be recently converted from a conventional restaurant to a take out Chinese buffet style (they still have tables). It was great they didn’t give out bag by default. they have a long pickup window between 11 and 6:30.
Value 7/10
Quality 9/10

Happy to try some interesting Turkish snacks!
Most had a best before date within the past few months (or was missing a date altogether) but caught this bag of couscous with a BB date of June last year 🙃 I messaged TGTG support about it and they ended up refunding me the whole bag.
I ate the pistachio bar, a little stale but alright.

Kinda messy, but not too shabby, right? Am I fooling myself into believing this isn’t bad?
