Gandolfini's delivery makes this such a hilarious one-off. What are your favorite subtle ones that you think people missed?

I wonder this sometimes when I watch the show. Did Janish even really have a son? Or was it just another scam she was pulling on Tony for money, sympathy, whatever? We never see him, not even a picture. His name is fluid - he's Hal or Harpo or back to Hal. In a culture where names carry so much meaning (ex. AJ), his identity doesn't really exist. "He's a street person" is a pretty convenient excuse for why Janish can't get in touch with him.

The best I can say about her is she's slightly naive. But she's more similar to Mel than she is different. She knows all about this thing of ours, what it means for Chrissy to be made, and what he's into.

I think if Ade was played by the Catherine van Zandt (Allegra), all you leg humbers would have been cheering her final scene instead of crying.

Usually Tony is funny and charming even when he’s pissed off and angry.

When he saw Jackie Jr. at the casino above the hardware shop, he puts down a $20 and tells him to hit and laughs with him. Same thing when he saw Jackie at the strip club, Tony does a little dance and says “We gettin a little lovin” and smiles before he beats the crap out of him in the bathroom.

Tony can lay on the charm and be amiable and most of the time gets his way. With the construction worker, he just insults the guy even more haha.

Yeesh, what a wedding. Johnny Sac spending that much money and FOR WHAT? His estimation as a MAN plummeted by the END he was crying about his daughters carriage turning into a fucking pumpkin. The FBI absolutely did that on purpose to mess with him.

He was around 6’1” which is tall but in the show he seems to tower over most of the other characters. Was this done on purpose to make him appear more menacing or just a happy coincidence?

Every time I see it it cracks me up. Tony's just walking through the house and the bam, decrepit old junior just shoots him and runs off to the closet.

i've known for a while that this show is truly an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime show but this episode (the guys spreading rumors that tony and adriana were fooling around before their car crash) really solidified just how fucking solid of a show this is.

-the acting performances all around (chris specifically, just a jaw-dropping performance here)

-the writing

-tony's meeting with melfi, asking her what to do then watching him ignore her and slowly dig himself into a deeper hole

-the insane showdown where tony blundetto has to tell tony not to murder chris

-adriana saying she's murder chris if the roles were reversed

-the final dinner scene with all of the guys gawking at tony, chris and the group when they walk in

please don't spoil it for me past this point since i'm not quite finished but just wanted to hop on here and just get out how much this episode impressed me.

I was too young and didn't live in the US when the Sopranos aired but Joey Pants was bald at the time right? What was the point of having the actor wear a wig?

I felt like there was nothing that required that character to have hair. I mean most of these guys were old, overweight, bald and with the exception of Christopher none of them could be male models if they wanted.

Why not just let him have his natural head?

I came across one of their albums in the “miscellaneous / V” section at Sam Goody the other day. I recall the lead singer, Richie, wanted to erase himself. Curious if he ever managed to do that.

When we watch the show we’re already told straight off that Christopher, paulie and Tony are all going to hell. Especially in another episode in s6 where Possibly the devil himself posing as someone similar to Tony S which was Tony B trying to take his brief case and lure him inside. It’s pretty self explanatory that the house had a sense of an evil aura around it a shadowy figure never actually showing itself slowly walks inside to make him seem more welcoming Tony B desperately tried several attempts to lure him inside which could’ve had Tony trapped in hell if it wasn’t for meadows voice leading him back to the real world as some of guardian angel saving him

I think in the movie Christopher literally tells us he’s in hell but aside from those two

I’m doing a rewatch and Tony and the crew just got back from Italy (and had their imagination of the old country shattered). During the negations with Furrio he accepts him for knocking 20k per car off the sale price.

How much money do you think Furrio actually contributed to the family vs the amount of cars they sent over. I get he added some intangible skills and became an important member of Tony’s crew but I doubt he got 20 cars worth of value.

I know Tony want to have an OG as a sorta flex but Tony got lost in her eyes and got robbed.

The entire mob leadership became incredibly reactive. Tony, Johnny Sack and Compromised are the obvious examples. Carmine was the only one who took it seriously as a business and actually seemed level headed enough to manage all the egos without airing his own dirty laundry, like any good executive would. Killing him off was the easiest way to make everything turn to absolute chaos right away. And that disgusting son of his knew what strings to pull… he probably learned that from his pop. I only had a semester and a half of college but I’d assume the writers modeled Carmine off the successful irl mob bosses.

(This isn’t mentioned much but when Carmine Sr reassures Tony there’s no stigmata these days at Chris’s being made party, he implies his son was court ordered for “the thing with his wife.” Maybe the timeline got fucked up and this was a different version of Carmine Jr, or it was another unseen son)

Rewatching the show. The Chrissy intervention may be my favorite scene from the series. I dont remember it being so hilarious. Pretty much all of the characters were in the scene and everyone was at their best. Greatness

You know, the little guy in Ozone Park. That’s pretty high up. And these tailors come over from Naples to fit him for a suit.

Except Corky gives them an address in Brooklyn and I just looked it up, Ozone Park is in Queens. He’s lucky they didn’t get confused and shoot the wrong person, like Rusty’s goomah’s father or something.

Maybe Corky was using, I dunno. And where’d he learn to speak Italian?

In the last episode they brought that cat from the safe house. Tony seemed to take an even greater liking to it(he, like many sociopaths apparently, love animals?) after learning "it already killed one rat.." Everyone seems to like the cat.. (everyone except the one person whose shown a constant tendency to be a rat, especially when it benefits himself).. yet Paulie is not only against it being there, almost to an irrational degree, he tries to make the point that "they're snakes with fur" and "you can't even keep them around babies.."..

How did I not notice during my first watch thru that this was a foreshadowing that Paulie is a rat? (Rats have a justified fear of snakes and cats..) I know there's also Paulie's deep superstition and all around eccentric behavior, but this just seems so over the head I can't over look it now.. (and it's probably done like that because of the knowledge that this is the last episode and that's the only way anyone would get a resolution is some metaphoric foreshadowing that's never showed on screen but is heavily implied)

If Chris could have done a better job keeping his subordinates in line, just think of the awesome crew he could have put together:

Christopher Moltisanti (Captain) - understands how things are valued before inflation, has one film under his subspecies

Brendan Filone - good kid except for the methamphetamine, knows how to install DVD players

Matthew “Drinkwater” Bevilaqua - went to Pace College, cleans up cheese well

Sean Gismonte - has a stock brokers license, can utilize coffee as a weapon

Jackie Aprile Jr. - if you knew who his father was you wouldn’t need further proof of his worth

Dino Zerilli - if you knew who his friend’s father was you wouldn’t need further proof of his worth

Carlo Renzi - owns a shotgun

Benito “Benny” Fazio Jr. - criminal mastermind

“Little” Paulie Germani - can survive a multistory fall with only a few broken vertebrae

James “Murmur” Zancone - helps with the disease, master document forger, has a heart murmur

Can you imagine a more powerful force in the DiMeo family?

For me it was Christopher, a kind of dark navy blue with a white tie. I thought that one was awesome

i actually love this line because it’s so useful to use, westerns can become comically over-the-top.

I like the moment when Tony asks Carmela over what did she expect, she married a gangster and most mob guys cheated on their wives. The one who didn't was a oddity.

Carmela expected fidelity in an environment that didn't exist. If she wanted a faithful dude, she should have married a librarian. She also was happy to spend his money and show it off.

Why did tony throw out his sandwich after talking to the fbi guy?
