Redecorating it's own enclosure?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Grammostola rosea sling has been redecorating its enclosure. Any clue why it's doing this to the walls? At first thought this was an anomaly. The dirt looks precisely put in this patern but how... we'll it turns out the dirt was put on most of the 8 air holes around her enclosure. Still, why? Have never seen a T put dirt up on an enclosure wall...

Thoughts?

Lost my T and am about to lose my MIND!

I was gone for four days and when I got back she was GONE. She was a 4 inch curly hair. My very first T. I spent HOURS looking in every crevice in the ENTIRE HOUSE. nothing. it has now been a week since I have started looking for her. I have been leaving out wet towels and water dishes for her and nothing. I have been waking up at 2 every morning to look. nothing. My family is freaking out cuz they dont like spiders. they dont scare me at all but I loved her so much. What else can I do. does anyone know of any traps? what I can do? could she even still be alive? plz help

Update 1 I forgot to mention that I have a cat. but my cat is super docile, and I doubt it would really attack a tarantula.

Hi everyone! My T. Albo babies are ready to find their new homes! I provide the enclosures as well! They are a month and a week old and are 1/2 of an inch 1st instars! Every single one of them are healthy I haven’t had any pass away on me. They are very fuzzy and cute and are excellent eaters and molters! So if you are interested comment down below! I live in the Western Massachusetts area and I cannot ship unfortunately.

Muda?

Le he puesto algún grillo muerto y no lo come. Estará bien?. Estoy preocupada, sigo manteniendo la humedad pero no sé si estará viva...

Hello! I just took in a friend’s pinktoe tarantula Lenore. Sweetest baby. She’s real skinny! Somewhat recently molted. Been in my care for a week.
Super unsure shes a she!
Any tips on getting her to take other types of food than crickets? She’s very scared of the roaches I feed my GBB and sand spider!

Looking to purchase...again :(

So Ive always wanted to raise a tarantula, and ill preface this by saying one I can handle. Im afraid I know the answer, and you professionals will flame me into oblivion once I admit to this (id do a sigh emoji but my phone just bricked and I'm using reddit for the first time on my laptop, ANYWAYS).

I researched for sometime, and I desired a Brazilian black, but in my area, New England, they're supposedly hard to come by without ordering online. I went to a reputable store, that sells all sorts of exotic animals, and no luck. However they had a small rose hair, I'm talking about the size of a dime. Purchased for $80. Clerk there said may not eat for a bit, close to molting.

She drank water ALL the time, tried feeding pinheads, tried a small cricket after paralyzing it so it would be easy prey, all to no avail. I had her for about 6 weeks, and last Friday, she was curled up, face down. I understand they molt on their back. I gave it 3 days, just hoping it was a weird molt, I knew the truth, but I was attached and didn't want to face reality.

I have to admit, I handled her probably 3/4 times in her 6 weeks. Im afraid that was the issue :(

I dug a hole in front of our garden, in front of the rose bush, and buried her in a small box. She wasn't just a spider to me, she was more than that, and I'm afraid it was my handling that led to her early passing.

almost a week past, and I'd like to try again, but I'm afraid of making the same mistake. Id love to find a Brazilian, but I'm reading more about a pink toe, or Mexican red knee. I really want something I can take out and let walk around on my hands (eventually). But I want to ask people with experience.

From what I'm reading, at the size I bought rose, they are very difficult to ensure they make it to a 2nd or 3rd molt, but I'm no professional.

With all this said, can anyone recommend a trust worthy site for ordering, and any and all help.

I guess this is kind of my admission of guilt, but I want to try again.

Please and ty.

Tarantula stung by tarantula, hawk trying to rehab

I know Reddit is probably not going to like this. I did intervene in a natural process and I can see how that would be upsetting to some folks. but I could not just watch and not help the poor little guy out. by the time I was able to grab him/her up it was already stung. I’ve been giving water via a syringe for the past month but is there anything I can do to help him/her eat I’m assuming it would also have to be through a syringe. Ive seen people online say it’s very hard to save them from this but I would really appreciate any advice thank y’all (im assuming it’s a Texas brown tarantula but if it’s not I would love to know more info about the species)
