Built in the 1990’s, the Composite Armored Vehicle-Advanced Technology Demonstrator was a base platform intended to gather information for a potential family of composite armored vehicles ranging from light IFV’s to Self Propelled guns which would all be based on this hull design. The CAV-ATD was also used for studies in stealth technology for ground vehicles.
A total of two demonstrators would be produced and the pictured example would be armed with a Bushmaster 25mm autocannon.

The suspicious installation is in the picture #1. Next to pictures show first actual Kontakt-1 ERA block - you can see there is a step on the end of the box where both explosive plates meet. Picture #3 shows schematic of how they should be installed on a turret or front of the tank - the end where both plates meet is supposed to be in front. Picture #4 then shows a Leopard 1 where ERA blocks look to be installed correctly on top of the turret front - the bulge is forward.

On the first picture it is a bit hard to see the other end of the ERA box, but the front certainly looks flat. And on the boxes below the front of the turret they _are_ correctly installed, the bulge being forward.

Is it possible for real that Ukrainians would have screwed some of the boxes the wrong way around?

Or is this some 4D chess and they are expecting the hit to the top of the turret to come from above and thus installed the boxes anticipating that?

But then on picture #4 they _are_ installed as designed...

Yes, I understand this level of detail is possibly not really necessary on a scale model, but my curiosity got piqued!

Can someone remind me what t-80 variant this was-
It had an extended chassis to fit a small infantry compartment of like 3 seat behind the turret. I know they also switched/cannabilized like a t-84-120 turret to it as well I think…
