Would be great to discover the whole continent in one game but the game would probably be 500 GB big.

I like that it isn’t. There’s still some video game fuckery to condense the world but Velen being a region in Temeria instead of the whole country makes the country itself feel bigger. Skyrim diminishes itself by fitting the whole country into one relatively small map.

But isn't Skyrim a region in Tamriel?

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure Tamriel is the continent.

You're correct. Tamriel is the continent, Skyrim is a country. There are no official figures for how big Skyrim is supposed to be, but our best guess is that it's supposed to be around the size of Scandinavia.

Ive heard it compared to Alaska in scale before, but the Scandinavian comparison makes sense if you're taking the map scale of Daggerfall as 1:1(ish).

I noticed on the compass that North East and South East are shown as NO and SO. Why O?

Ost. German for east, as well as in other related languages.

The map is in German, East is Osten in German so instead of North-East and South-East Nordosten and Südosten.

The whole continent would be terabytes. The location in the witcher 3 is miniscule really, you can see velen and novigrad on this map in relation to the whole continent
