Personally, it's the best survival crafter. I have such high regard for it. The fact that it's not procedurally generated, and still has over 100 hours of well designed map to comb through is nuts.
I understand that, much like everything, it's not going to be perfect for everyone, but I always recommend it to people that like survival crafters in general. It's just that good.
That's not wrong. Lol. Though I want to say metroidvanias usually only have you go back to older areas just to grab gear you've missed. Sometimes for mats, but that's pretty rare. You do it in Abiotic for those reasons and more. Lol.
I wouldn't say it's pretending to be a survival crafting RPG though. I still remember my shock at a specific event. (I can't recall formatting for spoilers so...)
Yeah it's mostly me whining haha, the game just feels like it should run much smoother than it does but that's just my vibes. It's obviously a very good game
Personally disagree. It's an enjoyable game with 10/10 vibes, but the combat is probably some of the worst in any survival crafting game I've ever played and by the end I was so fucking over the amount of back tracking the game makes you do.
This game had me going, surely this is the end like 3 times over the playthrough and each time I was pleasantly surprised.
I also agree with your statement that it is one of the best survival game made to date and if your looking for a story then they got a pretty good one, with voice acting all the way to the end.
People might have a hard time to get into it like my friend because of the art style, sadly he didn't want to continue playing the game, I still finished it solo its well worth it in my opinion!
I Agree with that. I actually played it with friends initially and we beat the early access. They only like brand new games so didn’t want to go back to an old game. The game was too good that I had to play a fresh run solo just to experience the full game. Ran through it pretty fast because I knew the map and it still took me 50 hours.
You get to the labs and think you're nearing the end and you're like, 15% of the way through
I did feel like the endgame lost that initial spark and got a bit repetitive and less creative, but all in all best survival game that's out there and it's not even close
I've tried it on 2 different occasions and couldn't get past like... the first couple of hours. I just felt kinda bland? Idk how to explain it. I liked the intro tv stuff tho; reminded me of fallout.
Yup, "we're nearly done" became a meme in our group because of this game. "Guys we're almost done, we need to start thinking about the next game" as we get to the blacksmith, the sniper, the flooded area, ...
Genuine question: Why are exploration/base-building games called survival, when death is a minor inconvenience and hunger or thirst isn't really a big issue?
Hunger/thirst/sleeping are relatively inconvenient in abiotic factor, especially early on before you have good soup recipes. As for death, well depending on where you are and what you're carrying death is annoying as well. If you play solo it's almost a horror survival game, with friends it's quite a chill experience though.

Abiotic Factor. Hands down one of the best survival game made to date.
