I still remember how much i freaked out (in the good way) when I finally beat last judeg, and got the act 2 screen. I had forgotten that I was in act one, and while I knew I wasnt excatly close to the end, I figured I was like 60% there since I finally reached the main objective. Then I got slapped in the face with act two, telling me I was barely a third of the way there.
It’s funny though, because I had the opposite experience going into Act 3. I spent so much time doing everything possible with Act 2, that Act 3 really didn’t have much left. I had greedily hoped it would be as big as the previous Acts. Still one of my favorite games ever though
Dude id act three was as big as act two i cant even imagine how long itd take me to beat. Act 3 still has a decent amount of content, obviously less than the other but a bad amount
I simply couldn't beat the Last Judge. I tried and tried, but got stuck... tried different load outs, watched videos, tried exploring other areas and came back later... but I gave up and played other games since then. I might come back to it eventually, I wish there was an Easy mode, so I could move on with the story.
I freaked out with my friends on call when we saw that the "Act 1: Pharloom" text because we thought it meant the entirety of pharloom has at least only half the game and we'd be going to a different kingdom in the second half
Totally agree even as a person who played the first game. The game is just THAT much bigger.
I rarely find people who haven't played HK before SK so i have a question: how nonsensical the story felt without not knowing what happens in the previous game?
Such important things as Void, Pale Beings, Hornet's parents and guardians, ect. are barely explained because the devs just assume that you alredy know all the lore from Hollow Knight.
The game takes place in basically a fully original new setting. There are references to the previous game and some things appear as well but its 100% not needed to play the other game.
The issue is that Skong is more difficult than Hollow Knight but that takes more getting used to than anything.
Yes, the game takes place in a completely new kingdom that is barely connected to Hallownest but it's still the same world and characters. Imo not playing the first game will ruin like a third of Silksong.
There are references to the first game. A lot of them. If you don't play the first game, they will look and sound cool but in the end you will be wondering "What the heck did just happen?".
The moment when Widow calls Hornet "The child of Wyrm and Weaver" i was like "Okaaaay, okay, something really serious is finally starting to happen.".
The moment when Wormways got infected by Lifeblood i was like "Holy, shit, i didn't know it could do THIS.".
When Snail shamans played an important part of the story i thought to myself "Yoooo, the devs didn't forget about this? That is so cool!".
At the true ending, i litteraly stared at the screen with my mouth wide open. It was probably the coolest thing i've experienced that month. A couple of weeks before this moment i wondered with my friends about what if this thing happened somewhere in the game and it turned out to be true.
Without atleast knowing what happens in the first game, each of those and many other moments would be reduced to "Huh, that was pretty cool/neat/interesting.".
Fucking incredible game. Everything about Silksong is perfect and by farrrrrrr.... Hardest game I've ever played. Didn't even enjoy finishing it lmao... Was just worn out by the end. Would 10/10 recommend.
Mowever Skong becomes incredible once you master Hornet's movement. At some point you are basically styling on enemies because Hornet is just so much more more mobile.
It is more frustrating. There are a number of design choices that combine to make it far more hostile than HK ever was. I love the game, but TC didn't hold back on the bullshit.
I loved Silksong, but I put up with a lot of inconveniences in HK1 because that's just how it was -- 0 intention to put up with that shit in Silksong. Immediately added mods for perma map marker, vacuum, currency not getting destroyed from spikes (like seriously why do this TC), etc.
I know, but that's an update - not a DLC. It doesn't have a separate store page or download, it's just gonna be part of the game (just like the ones for Hollow Knight).
