I recently bought it on sale (don’t have access to the console I’d originally played it on) haven’t had the chance to check if any of my saves were still there, but honestly I both feel like I spent ages in that game and didn’t get far 😅
I like Valhalla but there is just way too much stuff in that game. Especially with all the DLC and expansions they kept releasing. They just add more and more landmass to the game, and I still haven't finished the main story. I keep getting distracted by all the Asgard stuff, and there are like 3 or 4 separate world zones just for that.
Real question, is there even a credit roll "end" in Valhalla? I swear I completed every mission in the game after like 150hours and it just..didn't end?
It has, but with the DLCs that you can enter and leave at almost any time it might feel somewhat strange to have credits roll while having dozens of DLC quests in your log.
After playing Odyssey, I have zero desire to check out Valhalla. But I recently played Black Flag for the first time, and it was refreshing to see what the series once was.
I think I didn't like it as much as I should have because I had just played Assassin's Creed Origins, and I didn't realise that each game was sorta the same lol
Well, yes and no. The games up to syndicate are very different from the ones past origins, which are more like RPGs, it was a bit of a soft reboot. I like them all (only played up until Valhalla, and haven’t even finished that one) but the older ones just hit different, especially the characters feel so much more developed
Odyssey is fun until you actually start trying to hunt down the folks on the invisible list. Was having to look up guides so that it wouldn't take 2k hours to find their quests lol. Still didn't finish it.
Do you mean the Cult of Kosmos? I actually found them pretty easy, especially if you scout around with Ikaros because you’ll randomly stumble across them. But I’m also the kind of player that likes to throw a podcast/audiobook on in the background and then roam around clearing every fort and looting every chest, so I can see if you aren’t already going for that level of completionism it could be pretty tedious.
I mean sure, if you just go to every zone and complete 100% of the content you're pretty likely to find most of em, but then you have to spend 500 hours doing so lol.
Yeah, I only buy AC games if less than $10. So it will be a long time before I’d play resynced. Valhalla is the newest I have played. Got it for $6. The OG games are still good in their own way, but they are a different style of game completely.
Looking at the map and realizing how insanely much left there was crushed my will to complete that game. Which is a shame, because the writing was pretty good. I was just so bored of the gameplay by that 30% point that I couldn't bring myself to continue.
Assuming this is still talking about Odyssey; you do end up unlocking some pretty cool abilities that really elevate the fighting to be a lot of fun and easier/faster to defeat enemies.
The map clearing will definitely wear you out though, and DO NOT bother with any of the missions on the town signposts (except the blue reward one if you really want) those are literally endless menial missions, the game has enough content and rewards that is completely unnecessary
This was going to be my answer as well, for me it was my first assassin's Creed game and I remember feeling like I did a bunch of fun and interesting shit already and then it does that zoom out and shows the name and I was just like. Oh so that shit was just the prologue.
I didn't necessarily think that I was close to finishing the game but I definitely didn't realize that I was just running around and exploring in the tutorial for so long.
My first (and so far only) play through of this game was 200h. All DLCs, side quests, map markers, everything. Felt like watching a decent show at some point, especially in the DLCs.
Then you get the DLCs and that is a lot of content. I loved Fate of Atlantis DLC and especially the underworld part which I have a love hate relationship with. It is well done atmospherically and I never want to go back there again. Especially that one part in the underworld that is soul crushingly creepy.

Beautiful game, but the gameplay gets old fast. Especially if you've played other AC games. I assume the same is true for the newer ones
