O Levels el day 3 olevel oral glitch

hi guys i just took the olevel english orals, the vid was abt a barber n the prompt was “who would visit….” but some of my friends are saying their preparation question was glitched and it said “would you visit…” so they were caught off guard since they originally thought they read the qn wrong. but after, we found out some classmates also faced the same issue

im js wondering if anyone had this problem as well!

Update:
SEAB has responded to claims that some O-Level English oral exam candidates were shown a different question from the one read aloud by examiners.

The Board said it conducted investigations and found no discrepancy. https://str.sg/n8zZ

Discussion What's the most useless degree you can do in Singapore?

Upvotes

I'd say psychology many people I've encountered seem to have real blind spots here, believing they're skilled at handling relationships when they're actually among the worst at it. No offense to those taking psychology.

Discussion Net 2 for o levels but want to drop out of school permanently

Nothing much to say leh… yah I have projected net 2 my grades are stable but I want to drop out. Parents say can but I will regret ofc. I don’t come from a well-off background. Maybe can go join a monastery (I’m not very sure about that) or work on a farm for the rest of my life. Army can also but I’m a girl

it’s not because of burnout… I just think I’ll be happier if I do that

any thoughts?

if you know who I am no you don’t 😀

O Levels I don't know if I hallucinated for Oral

I was affected by the infamous Oral glitch on day 3. Or so I thought. My English teacher pulled me aside and told me seab investigated and found no discrepancies which I was like "Yeah right utter bs, this is fishier than the whole ocean combined". That is until he showed me a recording of my Oral screen on the day which seab had sent him upon investigation. It showed the correct question. It. Showed. The. Correct. Question.

My every flabber was gasted. Not just me, but a friend of mine too. Both thought we were shown the wrong question, Both were shown otherwise. I'm perplexed. Could it really be a misreading of the question? How did 300+ students across different schools experience the same shared mistake? Has seab gotten back to anyone else?

I know the other Secondary schools in the north had students who saw the wrong question too but I'm not sure if seab has gotten back to them or just my school so far.

NEWS Another MP (PAP’s David Hoe) files a Parliamentary Question to the Minister for Education

As an elected Member of Parliament, my role is to listen to residents’ concerns and, where relevant and appropriate, raise them with the relevant ministries.

When an issue has wider national implications or affects many Singaporeans, I also believe it is my responsibility as a backbencher to raise it in Parliament.

Following feedback on the recent Day 3 O-Level English Oral Examination, I’ve filed a Parliamentary Question to seek greater clarity.

A Levels How to memorise H2 organic chemistry

Upvotes

I tried flashcards, regurgitating NOTHING WORKS!! I’m super bad at reagents and conditions and idk if pure grit memory is even useful 🥲 I use algoapp but idk if it even works i mean i tried for my midyears but looking at my paper I flunked EVERY reagent question even tho I thought I memorised everything…… idk if im using the flashcards wrong or what or Im not memorising reagents and conditions the right way

For my flashcard, my first page looks like the reaction, then second page I ask myself what is the reagent needed. But I also realise u can do it the opposite way where the first page is the reagent, and second is the rxn.. but idk. I also keep getting confused what bond breaks etc and what reacts with what.. please help me

University NUS M26 IB applicants outcome

Upvotes

Apparently a decision has been made on the applicant portal, so it is worth checking the portal right now. No emails have been sent afaik.

I applied in February but was waiting until today, got rejected for CHS Life Sciences with a 43/45. International but I’ve lived here my whole life. 🤷‍♂️

O Levels Giving away my Sec 3-5 Physics/Chemistry notes + offering free help for students struggling with Science

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I know upper secondary Physics and Chemistry can be quite daunting, especially when concepts get abstract.

I am a Chartered Engineer currently working at NTU. As I approach retirement, I want to spend my free time mentoring students who might be falling behind in Science but may not have access to extra academic support. I have prior volunteering experience tutoring at FaithActs and Stagmont Park RC.

This is strictly pro bono (100% free). I use my own multimedia tools and customized notes to make the subjects engaging and easy to digest.

I live in Yew Tee and am happy to help students living around the West of Singapore. If you feel like you are drowning in your Science subjects and need someone to patiently guide you through the concepts, please send me a direct message!

University Accept offer from Malaysia Med school or hold out for Duke NUS or Aus Med school?

Hi everyone, appreciate your honest thoughts.

Context: I have a science related diploma and degree. I graduated and did quite well. Well enough to consider medicine. Its been my dream to be a dr since I was quite young. Passion never quite left despite seeing the reality of a dr's life and having some work experience alongside. I have a good portfolio with volunteering, research, and heavy clinical experience.

Goal: I was setting my sights on Duke NUS or perhaps Australia med school (not ideal but still acceptable because of the cost $300k but reputable nevertheless).

Reality: I was accepted by a couple of non-smc med school but ended up not taking the offer because I hope to practice in SG some day. Recently, I got shortlisted for an interview by a msia med school. (USM, UKM still waiting) They are both approved by SMC and new to me in terms of application. The interview went well but I realise I'm unsure if I should hold out to retake my admission test in early 2027 and apply for DUKE NUS/ Aus Med school. Would appreciate your advice if you are in healthcare field or you have any knowledge?

A Levels Am i stupid

Whenever I read notes, i genuinely understand every step/mechanism, and if I don’t get a part I won’t move on till I truly get it. I think I can quite confidently say my content mastery is there, but I really just can’t commit to memory. Before tests I only read thru notes I’ve done handwritten weeks before, and I can’t memorise. Then i end up doing very badly for them. People study about 3 days before the test of just plain reading and still can do much better than me. im kind of lost and demoralised now.. it may also be contributed by my lack of sleep.

University SIM UOL finance vs SIM RMIT finance

hello! any alumnis who did UOL or RMIT business willing to share their experiences?

i graduated from a local poly and i’m trying to apply for one of these

saw on other reddit posts that UOL can be pretty hard, is that true? i have no experience in studying finance as i was doing another business related major in poly.. will i be cooked??

yes i heard RMIT is generally easier because of the way they assess (projects etc.) but i feel like i’m overall more of an exam kinda person

i’m just worried i won’t be able to pass my modules since i have no prior experience..

any help will be appreciated!
