Coyotes, Cats, & Nature's Balance

The coyotes in our area only eat cats of homeowners who allow them to roam free. You know, the ones who think it's cool to allow their cats to piss and 💩 in other people's lawns and gardens. Guess who has to clean that 💩 up?

If you're allowing your cat to freely roam a neighborhood when coyotes are around, then you're the problem. You obviously didn't give a shit about your cat. Your cat left an easily identifiable scent trail to its location for the coyote to follow. Hell, your cat probably led the coyote right to your damn front door 🚪.

Cats kill 1B birds annually. Well, nature has had enough, so coyotes roam the area to help keep domestic and stray cats in check as nature intended. There is this thing called BALANCE in nature, which is exactly what the coyotes are enforcing. Keep your cats indoors.

Neighbors running a business.. Is it legal?

There’s a house in our neighborhood that sold over a year ago and was not occupied until a few months ago. It is a special needs day care, however, no one lives there. There is business during the day.. nurses coming and going, kids in wheelchairs getting dropped off, but in the evening everyone leaves and no one lives there. I goggled the address and this company runs day cares for special needs/handicap kids and has several locations outside of this county. The pictures online show the inside of the house and it looks like a facility not a home.

My question: is it legal to run a business in a Roseville/Placer County home and not reside in it? I have no issues other than the nurses parking all over so that the vans have clear access to the front of the house for pick up and drop offs. But that doesn’t really bother me. Just curious because anyone can use a home for a business instead of renting a commercial space?

Power outage July 20 2026

The Maidu/Sierra Gardens area is without power starting around 12:15 PM. Their phone automation said they were aware of the outage and gave me an ETA for a fix around 4PM or so (didn’t write it down).

Panini World Cup Sticker Trade

My daughter and I were wondering if anyone would be interested in meeting up and trading some World Cup stickers? We have lots of duplicates as we are about 75% done with our book. (If enough people want to do it, we can pick a central place and time for everyone)

Apparently it's an invasive worm species, whose skin secretes tetrodotoxin... Like the same thing that makes pufferfish so dangerous. Just wanted to do a little PSA, cause apparently using a lawn service can bring these along on their equipment. Not safe to touch, can cause death in animals!

Edited to add that these are hammerhead worms. Invasive in the US. Also called land planaria.

paper thin solar panels in roseville?

i saw relatively new homes in west roseville with what appears to be paper-thin solar panels. no metal racks but seem attached to the roof via some kind of rope harness with electric wire going down the side of the house.

i wasn't aware this was commercially available for residential use yet. does anybody know how to get more information on this, if available? i wasn't able to get anything from AI.

Gardeners - Fall pruning?

When do you all start cutting back your bushes, flowers, and other greenery for the Fall? Feels like we had an early Spring, and "summer" conditions can run through September around here. This is my first year paying attention to this kind of thing and I have a lot of overgrown stuff that needs pruned as soon as it's the proper timeframe.

Is Hastie’s premium veg mix a flop?

Second year Gardner here!

The first year yielded me much less tomatoes than I was anticipating, and everything else flopped on me. I tried cucumbers, zucchini and a handful of herbs, and I got nothing from it to speak of. As per usual with first timers, I was cocky with my expectations in April, and very let down come mid July.

So this year, I added a ton of amendments starting in early March, planted everything in late April/early May, and everything is looking about the same as last year.

I’ve fertilized according to all the suggestions from more experienced Gardners, but I’m still getting the same anemic looking plants as last year.
So I’m stumped, but still determined.

Does this soil suck?
Can it still be amended with more amendments than I’ve already added? (So far I’ve used Steer manure, organic compost, and worm castings)

Do I dig it up and send it away, starting over?

I’m wondering if anyone has also had a disappointing experience with this specific mix coming from the Roseville location, or if it’s me.
And if you did, what did you do? (I’m WAY into advice)

More history in the comments about a time I WAS successful, before I wanted to take it on as a regular thing.

Industrial Electrician/Technician Job

Currently looking to get into more maintenance/troubleshooting work: PLCs, motors, control systems, etc.

23 y/o with 5 years of commercial/commercial solar experience, going on my 6th. Have worked with basically everything besides lighting control, can read and understand drawings/schematics very well. Currently a somewhat new foreman but have been traveling for the majority of the 6 years and need something more local to Sacramento/Placer county. PLCs, motors, instrumentation, troubleshooting all peaked my interest in the apprenticeship so it’s something I’d like to get into full time. Able to take in new info and retain it well. I understand I’m young but also looking at my future physical health so looking for something where I can transition into more of a white collar role in the future. Talked with some people and did research and they mentioned the county/city, I’ve also looked into companies like Oracle/Aerojet. Am currently making good money so I understand I’ll probably take an initial pay cut but looking for something that allows growth.

Also, trying to grow my wealth more so if there’s any recommendations for training/cert that’ll help me negotiate wage/salary. Thinking about getting my title 24 cert as well.

Cozy or casual places for a first date

Hello all. I have been talking with the lady on a dating site and have had our first phone call and we have hit it off and have agreed to meet. I'm looking for a place that we can sit and do coffee or just a casual hang out. Do you have any recommendations for the Roseville, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks area?

Thank you for your time
