New Rule Regarding Meddling With r/PortAngeles

Howdy folks, this is an announcement regarding discussion of r/PortAngeles moderation on r/PortAngeles2. There recently has been something of a campaign on this sub (henceforth referred to as PA2) of users encouraging others to report the head moderator of the other sub (henceforth PA1) to Reddit for not following Reddit's rules for moderating.

This is something that we can't allow, as using one subreddit to have a coordinated effect on how another is run is, in itself, against Reddit rules. It's hard for us PA2 mods to be unaware of this, as the PA1 moderator in question has repeatedly reported us and messaged us, telling us in no uncertain terms that he'll make a continuous effort to get the PA2 sub removed for as long as there are posts/comments encouraging others to report his moderation.

Personal feelings aside, PA2 was never made to start a turf war with the moderator(s) of PA1, or to stir any sort of beef with PA1 in general. Most of the moderators here on PA2 don't particularly like being moderators or the drama that comes with it, but we felt (and continue to feel) it was necessary to give the Port Angeles community a space on Reddit that isn't beholden to the type of moderation present on PA1. But by allowing those posts about PA1's moderation, we lose some of our own agency from it.

So from here on out, the rule we're going to have to have is that the PA1 and PA2 subreddits are separate spaces, and users aren't allowed to use one to influence the other. This is not a blanket ban on discussing PA1, you're still allowed to criticize how it's run if you see fit, and of course cross-post things from there to here, but we can't allow meddling in their moderation. Thanks for reading, and we appreciate your understanding.

Recommendations Dining with kids

Hi! I'll be camping in the area this weekend with my family, and am hoping to have a backup list of some kid-friendly dining options as it looks like it might be rainy and a chance to pop inside might be necessary. Kids are young - one school age, the other preschool. Bonus points if there are potential activities nearby, too!

We are still planning on doing outdoors stuff, even in the rain. I just know my kids and they'll need a break from being wet and/or a tiny camping space if the rain is bad enough. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Stage 2 water restrictions

Restrictions have come a month early this year. The Elwha is a good foot below the low 13 year mean. We just are not getting enough snow and aren't keeping it long enough. We are in a D2 severe drought, with worsening conditions expected.

While voluntary, you need to start restricting your water use. Stop watering your lawn, stop washing your car (go to a car wash instead), ex.

The city offers programs for many water saving devices from rain barrels rebates to free low flow faucets attachments.

Also, I encourage some public shame for businesses and organizations with green grass. It's a luxury which puts our region at risk, and is completely unnecessary as our cool weather grasses evolved to go dormant in the hot summers.

Politics Sequim Lavender play mocks Watchdog

I went to the Lavender Melodrama play at OTA this weekend in Sequim. They do a fresh play every year about Sequim to celebrate/make fun of the Lavender festival. This year the play mocked the watchdog and out of town developer politicians. It was pretty brutal, and funny. There are a few more performances this next weekend! This was the last play written by the recently deceased executive director of OTA. Worth seeing!

Politics The DSA are primarily trying to hurt Democrats. Their entire platform is "please split the vote so a republican wins and we get to keep crying." They want the war in Gaza to continue so they can keep bringing up Palestine the same way MAGA always bring up "girls with penises"

Our good friends at North Olympic DSA have published their voting guide!

they didn't include precincts, so I'd like to personally add that for Blue Mountain Precinct 209 Democratic PCO (south of hwy 101 from blue mountain road to Boyce road, just outside agnew) - you need to vote for Brenda Carpenter.

Discussion Let’s make something together

Hey yall. I’m an audio engineer in PA. While the majority of my career has been working on audiobooks and podcasts, I’ve also done plenty of mixing/mastering and port production audio for video.

I want a new project and I’d love to work with people in our community.

I’m always down to talk shop too, so please feel free if you just want to chat or have an audio question.

Let’s make something!

Recommendations Camp Ramblewood-looking for info to help decide if it will work for our family trip

I'm trying to find accommodations for about 30 people for a family get together, so far I'm having a hard time finding anything that will work for us.

My first choice would be an airbnb big enough for all of us, but I'm also looking at other options.

The trip is planned for summer 2027 so I have some time to find the perfect place, and I'd love it if anyone has suggestions.

As far as Ramblewood, the site says it accommodates 60 people, but I'm not sure if that's all cabin/indoor sleeping vs camping (our group isn't equipped to camp.)

Does anyone have any alternate suggestions that might work for us? We'd like to stay at one location, and having access to a full kitchen is a must.

I'd also like to be in a location that is close enough to do local activities like lake crescent, whale watching, hurricane ridge, salt creek, etc.
