Hi guys. I have an android tablet lying around thats decently big/new (like a bit more than 10 inches) and was wondering if its feasible to use it with a stylus to flow debate rounds. Idk if i am onto something or if im on something. I also don't know if an app exists where i can switch between different tabs/notes/flows quickly and easily. Idk i was hoping that i could help save tablespace and make my flows easier to manage. I like writing my stuff out so that its easier to do line by lines and write rebuttals, but i also like how easy it is to switch between different flows on verbatim excel, which was kinda why i was considering this. Lmk what you think, and any feedback is appreciated

A single-payer.

Whenever I make files on cardmirror, I use the calibri font. But when I have analytics and cards in the same file, and I export to words, the cards become this weird font. Does anybody else have that issue, and if so is there any way of fixing it?

Does anyone know any debate resources (round recordings, round docs, blogs, videos, slideshows, papers, whatever) that were active for the 2011-12 topic (space exploration)? I want to see what arguments would have been big at the time.

Could any debate uncs let me know what args were big on the space topic in the national circuit? how did the meta change throughout the year? was it mostly like foreign policy stuff or pie-in-the-sky arguments like dyson spheres and kardashev brains and vaccum decay? Space colonization will most likely be the next LD topic, so I just want to look into this. I tried the 3nr, but all of the links to the demo debates expired.

i'm a rising junior, in my second year of policy and at a debate camp right now. i have become very interested in writing my own k aff but am unsure of how to start or how to create on properly.

my state's circuit is mainly policy and has very little k debate. i already have an idea of what i want it to be about so i have like half the battle down but am very unsure about the rest. i've only ever gone against one k aff throughout the entire year last year and havent had much experience with it. i've kind of taken a look at past k affs but i'm still really confused and want to get started sooner rather than later so i can get used to it before the season.

I’ve been loving CardMirror, but there is one function I’m desperately missing from Word, and I’m just wondering if maybe I just haven’t figured out the CardMirror equivalents?

Okay, so in Word, you can use advanced find and replace to mass-select text based on formatting. CardMirror has double-click to select all for things like emphasized or underlined text, etc.; however, the only thing I haven’t figured out how to bulk select is all highlighted text in a doc. My team has a bunch of people and just some of the worst formatting norms I’ve seen. Cards in a million different font sizes, highlighted text swimming naked, zero underlining or emphasis, and random cards that have highlighted text italicized (bro, I know it’s bad, don’t flame me). I’m missing being able to mass-select all highlighted text so I can quickly bulk-fix docs without going card by card. The closest I’ve gotten in card mirror is resetting the card text size, standardizing doc highlighting, changing all emphasis to underlining, then finding naked highlighted text and selecting similar to underline it, then doing the same for italicized text. However, this process is annoying as hell; it takes forever, blows up my doc to be 2-3x its length, and fucks with cards that don’t have any highlighting and just emphasized text.

I have a feeling I’m maybe missing something and just doing this on hard mode by accident. Also, even if there isn’t and never will be a way to select all highlighted text, I will keep using CardMirror; it’s that good.

Edit: Forgot to add I primarily use Mac but have also tried to find solutions on my desktop PC. Both are using the desktop version of CardMirror.

hey all, i used to debate policy back in high school. my last topic was the space exploration and/or development one, i really enjoyed the military presence topic as well. after high school i coached for a while at camps and for my old team, did some judging on the side, cut files for a company, and kept doing debate in a new format in college. i taught my last camp in 2020, the pandemic basically severed my last ties to debate.

my question is, what are the norms that have developed/are developing around ai in debate? do people use ai to help them cut cards, write blocks, flow? or is there an anti-ai sentiment? does it vary by team? are there theory arguments about it? is it more nuanced than simply ai good or ai bad? very curious, thanks for anything you share!

I'm currently a sophomore policy debater, and I noticed that I have had trouble with debate throughout my freshman year. My partner usually carries me, and the problem is, I don't have enough time to practice debate and stuff during the school year due to schoolwork. Also, I didn't go to debate camp, since it is a bit costly. How can I improve ASAP and become a better debater?
