What's a lively pub on a weekday evening?
Used to go out in Stoke but it's a ghost town now apart from the weekend.

This sub receives lots of posts where users are trying to make new friends. From students arriving from around the world, to movers who have accepted a job here, it can be hard to make friends in a brand new community. If you prefer an online-first approach to making friends, I encourage you to consider joining the official Plymouth Discord server: https://discord.gg/X7gBvKBXuV
Our Discord server is a great place to make new friends, both online and IRL. It's also a good place to discuss what's happening around the city and get some advice from residents if you're moving here. Through meetups on this server we've played Jackbox together, gone on bike rides, won pub quizzes, and danced during nights out. More importantly, we've made good friends that we otherwise wouldn't have without this Discord server.

I’m planning to join The Gym Group but I heard that The Gym Group has fewer machines compared to PureGym. I just want to know if there’s any big difference.

I’ll be in Plymouth soon, I’m not a local, and would like to park at Jennycliff carpark and walk the coastal area. I cannot find out if I can stay longer than 2 hours free, pay for longer etc, Ideally, I might be there for 4 hours, no overnighting etc, just a Sunday afternoon. All I can find is the recent news that they’re not going to start charging. Clear answers from a local would be great. TIA.

As the title really, don’t really mind where in Plymouth it is, preferably somewhere with easy parking but most importantly my lad just needs a decent hair cut. So, any recommendations?

I was wondering if anyone knows of any board game or beginners D&D groups looking for an additional newby player? I have always loved the former and wanted to start the latter but none of my friends are into it. Would love a weekly game night sort of thing, and I'm open to any games.

Last week on Saturday, while driving to Cadover Bridge I found a terrapin walking down the road. With the help of another lady, the turtle was safely escorted to a local vet in Plympton.

Any recommendations for end of tenancy cleaning service?

Will try to keep this short.
I am moving out within 4 weeks after finding a new property.
I currently have a years tenancy that runs out August 18th next month.
Back in Feb I had signed to go onto a rolling contract after this as I hadn’t had my new property lined up yet so wasn’t sure where I would be.
I have handed my notice in and they have said I owe until October due to having to legally give 2 months notice under the new renters rights. They are going off the new tenancy starting after August 18th, the new rolling one.
It is to my understanding my current tenancy should have been made rolling, and I shouldn’t have signed a new tenancy? That’s the impression I’ve had from the new renters rights they sent me.
Therefore, now I’ve handed my notice it it should be September?
Citylets have said nope. I can’t hand my notice in until it starts, the new rolling contract, in August.
I contacted my landlord who basically said he doesn’t understand these new rules.
Any advice?
I think I should be contacting a solicitor for advice to.

I saw a red bus being escorted by police city-bound on Outland Road this morning around 10:00. Police were ranging ahead and blocking junctions for it. Anyone know what that was?
UPDATE: According to PlymouthLive it was a "Giant Coach" & they have sourced a statement from D&C Police to the effect that is was "probably" a training exercise, but it's PlymouthLive, so they probably made that up.

EDIT: Thank you for all of the interest!!!!! It has been sold :) I wish you all very happy fishing <3
Hiya, I hope this isn't against the rules!
I’m moving and desperately need to get rid of a fishing rod. It’s brand new, never used and doesn’t have any reel or line attached.
Here is the fb marketplace listing! Message me for any details :)

I'm looking for women to join my netball team. We play in a social league ran by Play Netball. It is not a serious league, we all just play for fun and it helps us fit in some exericse. If you would like to join us, please leave a comment.

Hey folks, bit of a longshot for this one and not a Plymouth local myself so hoping for some insider info from you guys. I co-run a community of 12-14 people in Plymouth for the tabletop skirmish game Trench Crusade (think Warhammer but with 9 miniature models rather than 90.)
We’ve been meeting regularly at Dark Star Gaming for evening sessions, but we’re looking at running a one-off full day event (7-8 hours) which Dark Star can’t accommodate at the moment due to them hosting all sorts of different games. We’ve reached out to other local game stores but nothing has aligned quite right.
Does any know of any local libraries, schools, community centres that have fairly cheap spaces to use? We’d need room for ourselves and ideally 5-6 tables worth of space. The space having availability on weekends would be ideal!
Any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks people!

For anyone that’s done the Roscoff to Plymouth ferry, how smug do you feel knowing you have a 10+ minute journey off the boat? I’ve just done it and have never felt so smug in all my life. Lucky buggers we are.

Was thinking this one over.
Interested in what city officialdom reaction and safety measures would be?
If it was a stencil, we have wall security and ownership issues, insurance liability value as an asset and artwork (for example)
If it were a hastily erected statue (say on the hoe, amidst the pre-existing statues, or slap bang by the lighthouse) would it be permanent or would it be whisked away to the box (both have merit and public access for what is essentially public art)
If it were outside and whisked away "for safety" would the university art collective be assigned with replicating it in the original spot / as near to it as possible so the point of the piece in situ was not lost by being elsewhere?
How much cost associated with a banks dropping in one night would the council assign to it, and then have the public stump up over the next tax year?
your thoughts?

I’ve been keeping an eye on the antiques shop opposite Millbridge Inn on the corner terrace (I know there’s one couple doors up). It’s been shut for at least a year now. Does anyone know why? There’s lot of stuff I can see from the window that I’d be interested in! Thanks

I hope the lady who had the strap break on her wedge sandals just as she was walking to meet her friends in the Ship eventually took the other one off.
I hope the young lady on a first date sees all the red flags about her date who couldn't stop talking about himself and how ripped he is.
I hope the kids jumping in the harbour and off the flat roof of one of the pubs make it to adulthood.
But it's a beautiful place to spend a few days.

Beating cancer deserves a better party than just ringing a bell… So we’re putting on a comedy night.
After being diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma in March, I finish chemotherapy on 6th August. A few weeks later, I’m celebrating the only way I know how - with stand-up comedy, improv, a charity raffle, and my first ever shot at MC’ing.
We’ll be raising money for Macmillan’s The Mustard Tree Centre and Cancer Research UK.
Tickets go live 10th July. Whether it’s to celebrate, to laugh or to chant “fuck cancer!” I’d love to see you there ❤️

I’m looking for tattoo artists for smallish no shading style? I’m rly into simple Japanese/ Oriental style but I haven’t really seen any in Plymouth that do them?
