Rescue Chaunta, the senior pitbull with the inoperable watermelon sized cancerous mammary tumor and terminal cancer wants you to know that she is still here and she is getting a surprise on Friday!
Hi, friends! I am so, so sorry that I was unable to say Thank You to everyone for all of the amazing gifts that they sent Chaunta. Reddit is balls, sometimes, friends. I think that only one person left their username in the gift receipts, so, please please please message me if you'd like a handwritten thank you card or just a picture of Miss Chaunta!
I was able to connect with an absolutely amazing woman who runs a mobile grooming service after I had posted on Facebook about Chaunta basically needing a bath and blow dry monthly for the benefit of both of our healths. I just asked if there was anyone out there who would be willing to do a rescue discount or month package or something that was discounted because hospice care is expensive and I cannot afford $100/month for her to get groomed. Well, this amazing woman stepped up and not only that, but two of her clients paid for 6 months worth of grooms but a nonprofit that she works with that helps dogs like Chaunta offered to pay for another 6 months worth of grooming (and possibly more if we even need it considering we have no idea how long she has left). Chaunta is going to absolutely die and go to heaven on Friday because she's going to be meeting and getting love from at least 3 new people plus my caregiver Kelly and maybe Jennifer from the rescue! She absolutely LIVES for meeting and loving new people. She is so sweet and so patient and she sits so pretty and just waits for people to greet and love on her.
These 3 photos are of some gifts that she was sent. She managed to destroy the purple shirt at some point over the weekend (HOW????? SHE NEVER EVEN TRIED TO TOUCH IT BEFORE!!!), but, I think she looks very pretty in pink.
And, the doggles (doggy goggles) are an absolute hit! She looks like she's going to NASCAR and needs a can of Bud Light and nacho Doritos next to her. Lol.
I know that I have blessed with so, so much more than I could have ever even imagined when it came to Chaunta, but, of course with time and as the cancer progresses, we unfortunately need new things and supplements to keep her comfortable and doing her best!
Please please please, if you are at all able andy willing to do so, please consider blessing Chaunta with some of the new supplements her medical team has recommended we look into or maybe even a little bit of luxury!
Thank you so, so, so much, r/pitbulls for being the place that saw Chaunta for the incredibly special dog that she is and lifting me up even when I was struggling with strength and hope. This beautiful brindle spotted senior pitbull with ground down terrible teeth, lumps and bumps all over, yeasty skin and paws, tumors on her vagina, a massive watermelon sized mammary tumor, a hematoma, and terminal cancer somehow, SOMEHOW, escaped the sbc deathcamp alive AFTER her execution time. I would have never guessed in all my years of experience with dogs that this girl would have touched so many hearts so deeply. I live in Southern California where hundreds of pitbulls are euthanized WEEKLY. Pitbulls just aren't dogs that people really care about out here, sadly. I mean, I never personally thought that I would have a pitbull! I have to say, though, I could not be happier that I decided to say yes to her.
Joleen saw Chaunta in her kennel photo and fell deeply into those soul searching eyes. Jennifer decided to take a chance on this sweet baby, if she was even still alive. I said "yes" to giving her a home (and then a forever home when her tumor was declared inoperable and that she was terminal). And YOU. YOU GUYS GIVE ME THE ABILITY TO GIVE CHAUNTA THE ABSOLUTE BEST THAT I CAN IN THE WORLD FOR HOWEVER LONG SHE HAS LEFT IN IT!
