If you’ve seen the tour this year, what’s a song or two you wish Paul would’ve played, and one or two you were pleasantly surprised to hear?

I saw him for the first time in Philly and was absolutely thrilled with the entire performance. As a 28 yo I feel a little late to the Paul Simon party but I’m so so glad I made it in time to see him tour. I was hoping to hear Hearts & Bones (not sure if he’s said he won’t play this one live or not) and America, which I heard other dates got.

I was however very glad to hear Train in the Distance and René and Georgette. I also loved that he played the entirety of Seven Psalms just to be able to see his beautiful guitar work live in person.

I saw Paul in Toronto. It was amazing. I’m a lifelong fan, never saw him before. Since then I’ve been listening to a few of his records that I’ve neglected over the years. Capeman is standing out today. I remember when it came out. I certainly listened to it a bunch, but it drifted away. Coming back to it, I think it’s brilliant. The true story of Salvador Agron is so moving. The merger of doowop and Latin music is brilliant. I’m wondering what other fans think of it. I know it was a commercial disappointment as a musical and album. Did anyone see the musical? Any love for Capeman?

At the start of the concert, Paul Simon announced that because of the unhealthy air quality from the Canadian wildfires, the show would be shortened. He omitted the entire Seven Psalms portion and, compared with recent online setlists, added “Mrs. Robinson” and “Something So Right.”
For me, the highlights were “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes” and “Mrs. Robinson.”

The only downside was the smoke. The next morning, my lungs felt like I’d spent hours sitting around a campfire. For his protection, I wouldn’t have minded seeing Paul perform in a Pope-mobile-style enclosure. He could have played “The Boy in the Bubble” and joked, “For the first time, the title of this song actually makes sense.”

I’ll start, I could pick so many but this one is currently top of mine for its understated complexity:

“Kathy, I'm lost", I said, though I knew she was sleeping

At last night's show, I noticed that Edie sang the original "Tucson, Arizona" lyric.

Last May, the lyric had been changed to "Dallas, Fort Worth Texas".

My understanding was that it was changed to Edie's home town rather than Linda Ronstadt's home town of Tucson.

Have they used the Tucson lyric this entire leg of the tour, or did they just change it back last night because yesterday was Linda's 80th birthday?

Hey guys, i was at the show last night and I was wondering if anyone sneaked any videos where i was up dancing. At the end of the show, he signaled to me to do a little twirl and grabbed my hands on stage, and it was the moment of my life. Just hoping someone was able to capture it accidentally. Thx 🩵

“The cross is in the ballpark”

This song has been hitting me hard, and this lyric in particular. But I’ll admit that I googled it because I just couldn’t figure out what he was talking about, but it spoke to me so powerfully.

Paul Simon has explained what he meant by this lyric. And it didn’t disappoint at all for me.

As a lifelong Dylan fan I’m just so impressed by Simon’s songwriting. I also think that I’m probably getting into him at the right stage of my life; this is middle aged guy music. In the best way.

Anyway, my two constants right now are Obvious Child and Graceland. Just phenomenally beautiful, thoughtful music.

We have tickets for myself, my husband, and my older guitar-playing son to see Paul Simon tomorrow in Franklin, TN. We have nosebleeds that we got on sale months ago for $30 each and paid off over time. Come to find out, my 14 y/o daughter wants to go because she loves American Tune and two or three other Paul Simon songs. The same daughter typically only likes concerts where she knows all the music, which is why I didn't get her a sale ticket in the first place. Now, tickets are $70+ and it would be a sacrifice to afford another ticket at that price. (We are all seated on a metal bench with our extended family, so I would just squeeze her in with us.)

tl;dr: Should I spend what is, for us, "too much money" for my daughter to join us tomorrow at Paul Simon or will she likely be bored by a show that is largely an 84 year old man singing songs she's never heard? I've seen people who say his shows are almost spiritual and people who say that he can't sing anymore, so I'm really unsure if she will actually enjoy it. TIA!

There used to be a concert film online of Paul's show in Paris in 2000, I think it was titled "You're the One". Can't find it anymore, if anyone has a copy of it, could you find a way to post it in the sub?

I know we were not supposed to record, but that song was one of the highlights of the show for me and I would love to listen to it again if anybody has it!

I went to the Raleigh show tonight and it was absolutely outstanding. He played for 3 hours. Encore that ended with The Sound of Silence. If you’re going to any leg of the tour, enjoy it. It was incredibly moving.

Is there anyone else around my age (20) going to the concert in Raleigh today? My age bracket seems to never know anything about Paul Simon or his works (other than the sound of silence...), so I'm just curious if I'll be alone or not. I want Paul Simon's music to resonate through all generations, as he's legitimately one of the best songwriters of the 20th century, but young folks just seem to listen to far different kinds of music than this.

I had always regretted not going to see Paul Simon or Simon & Garfunkel in concert, so when I knew I was going to be in New York when he was playing I snapped up a ticket asap. And boy, am I glad I did. It was truly one of the greatest concert going experiences of my life - and I’ve seen some true greats: McCartney, Bowie, Velvet Underground etc. Sure, Paul’s voice isn’t the same as when he was a young man but he really knows how to deliver a lyric and the band were extraordinary. So much musical talent on one stage. The sound mix and the arrangements were superb. The pacing perfect. A quiet celebration indeed; subtle, intricate, detailed but then building to moments of cathartic, joyous release. The bonus was he played so many of my personal favourites - Train in the Distance, Rene and Georgette, Something So Right, America. It was almost a religious/spiritual experience to hear these great songs in the place it all began. The final solo encore was perfection. Thank you Paul for coming out of retirement and giving us all this experience. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

I attended one of the shows at Forest Hills Stadium this week and had a wonderful time - I never thought I'd get to hear American live and I've been on cloud 9 ever since. All that aside, I unfortunately was unable to pick up a tour shirt. This may be a long shot, but any chance anyone has an extra red ringer tee and/or is willing to pick one up on one of the remaining tour stops?

I’m a huge fan of his but have never seen him. Was so happy to hear about his re-emergence after his hearing loss. I am considering seeing him in NYC, but have other commitments. My worry that this may be my last chance to catch his tour. What do people think? Will he continue performing live after these quiet celebrations?
