Rule 1: Accepted topics

Here are the types of posts we welcome on our subreddit:

Questions regarding travel and tourism in the Île-de-France region.
Posts regarding your tourist experiences in Paris.
Draft itineraries of your upcoming trips for suggestions
Reports of your trips to Paris
Anything else that may be useful for tourists visiting the Île-de-France region!

Rule 2: Minimum posting standards

All content must meet these standards:

English or French only. Other languages must be translated before posting. You may use a translation app, but not an AI service.
Titles must be descriptive and outline what the post is about. No vague or general titles such as “Need Help” or “Paris Trip”.
Use formatting responsibly. No excessive all-caps, symbols, emojis, bold, or headings.
Images must serve a purpose within a post; no clickbait

Rule 3: Prohibited topics

No illegal content. No content or questions regarding illegal drugs, entering non-public areas of the Catacombs, or any other illegal topics.

No sales/giveaways/transfers of tickets. Allowed only on the monthly General megathread, and only if the tickets have no official resale platform.

Rule 4: Be respectful to each other

Our goal is to foster positive and helpful interactions between contributors. Any behaviour contrary to this goal is prohibited, such as insults, harassment or passive-aggressiveness.

There is no exception for calling out or retaliating against other disrespectful users. If you are not able to stay respectful in your replies, stop immediately and use the report button. Otherwise, you are equally culpable and will suffer the same penalties.

Rule 5: Use of the monthly General Questions thread

The monthly General Questions megathread (pinned post) must be used for:

Simple questions that do not encourage discussion (such as yes/no questions)
Commonly-asked questions
Minor questions (i.e. the type you would delete after receiving an answer)
Resale of tickets for attractions or events that do not have an official ticket resale platform.

Moderators reserve the right to redirect questions to the monthly thread at their discretion.

Rule 6: Effort requirements

Please read the text on the pinned monthly megathread for our expectations when posting. Posts that demonstrate little to no prior research effort or ask simple/common questions may be removed at the moderators' discretion.

If you have a simple, common, or minor question, please post it in the comments of the monthly megathread.

Rule 7: Post flairs and topic-specific rules

Please refer to our post flairs page for information on our post flairs and flair-specific rules. We expect all users to select the correct flair for their post.

Because of our flair-specific rules, moderators can only correct misflaired posts in certain cases. If your case is not correctable by a moderator, your post will be removed and you'll be asked to repost again.

Rule 8: No AI-generated content

We do not allow any use of AI on this community, even if you disclose it. This includes using AI to generate:

posts or comments
itineraries for community review, even if used for formatting or style
retellings of a story or experience, no matter if real or fake
translations of text into English or French
(non-AI translation tools such as Google Translate are OK)
images and/or videos, including touch-ups or changes to existing media

Crossposts of AI content are also banned.

Rule 9: Advertising/self-promotion is limited

No adverts are allowed on our community, except in the following two cases only:

Events and opportunities: You may post under the Events and Opportunities post flair to promote an event or small business opportunity. Conditions apply.
Trusted users: Users with at least 2 croissants on their user flair may refer to their own products/services when relevant to a discussion only.

In all cases, affiliation must be disclosed, and affiliate links are prohibited.

Rule 10: Maximum posting limits / No karma farming

To allow everyone equal opportunity to post, we enforce the following limits per user:

Maximum 2 posts per 24 hours.
Maximum 1 "Link" post or crosspost per 24 hours.
Maximum 2 Photo/Video posts per week (7 days).

There is no limit on commenting, but please don't spam.

Using an alt account to post in excess of these limits will result in a ban.

We also reserve the right to remove low-effort karma farming posts.

Rule 11: No politics, trolling or fearmongering

Please refrain from discussing general politics or controversial topics on the subreddit. Any discussions that turn into arguments will be removed and/or locked.

Additionally, we reserve the right to remove any content if we determine it was posted with the intent to incite an argument (ragebait).

Rule 12: Do not use chat to harass or advertise to other contributors

We have had multiple incidents where users moved discussions off the subreddit and into private chat in order to harass them or advertise. This will no longer be tolerated.
