Hi all,

I'm conducting some research about the programme London's Burning. For a lot of people it is nostalgic, but the last few series' have been criticised for being too much like a soap opera. Is this because it is of its time, and perhaps modernity ruined the gritty feel of the programme? I would be very grateful if anyone could give me some specifics on what they liked, and may still like about LB, and what went wrong towards the end. If anyone has particular episodes, scenes, characters, or shouts that they liked/disliked that would be great to know too.

For me it's Michael Aspel. He always came across as calm, genuine and never felt like he was trying too hard. His presenting style just seemed effortless, and I don't think we've really got many like him anymore.

Hello I’m looking for a clip from the show air about in 2000 to 2004 I think
of a boy on a scooter Falls off. my brother and he’s Friends made it and he has never seen it. Due to living up in Scotland when he was told his clip was going to be on the tv it was on itv not stv due to a believer rugby match. I wish I had more information but my brother doesn’t have the greatest memory he can’t tell me a lot. It was in the time you sent your tapes in and got it back erased

I watched this around 1990. I believe it was a show, rather than a movie, and that it was British, rather than American etc. I do not remember anything about it, other than its horrendous ending. If it is from a show, it must be one of those shows where each episode has an independent story line, like a movie.

A murderer kills a number of people in a house. He is the only one left alive, so he is the only one who can provide an account of what happened. He hastily takes a box cutter and slices open his own chin from left to right in order to provide the illusion that he has been attacked along with all the others and that he is the lone survivor. As the police enter the house he lies down among his victims, so that he is ready to present himself as a victim of someone else’s crime to the police. This is the end of the episode.

I remember watching this thing around 1990. It may not necessarily have been overtly political (as in a political campaign spot). If it was an artistic short film then it was definitely interpreted as a political/social commentary with conservative leanings. The four or five young men can hardly breathe because the space they have been confined to (i.e. society) is so small and narrow. I would appreciate it very much if anybody has a clue as to what I'm talking about!

Okay. I know this is s very long shot. Does anyone remember or know an advert where a man is going through memories at work.

I think he is on a dark wooden staircase, with portraits on the wall and you hear a VO of his son saying 'Is this where you work Daddy?'

I am thinking this advertises something like Scottish Widow or Allied Dunbar?

Am I the only person who rmembers the WRC's craziest moments II TV program? I think it aired on ITV (ITV IV seems to ring a bell) here in the UK a few times in the early 2000's. I've been searching for it for years since it was taken down off of youtube a few years ago. I believe here is one of the last remaining clips of the same one I'm on about. Would there be anyone who could help find/restore this gem? I remember it being a really good watch.

In the mid 70s last thing at night there was a programme which was a collection of short very diverse acts, I seem to recall people like George melly, mike Harding a gent who made Heath Robinson like models, some poetry would love to know the name of show so I can search for it TIA

Depuis deux heures, je cherche des informations et (principalement) des vidéos sur une émission appelée "Rebecca".

"D'où ça vient ?" Un ami m'a parlé d'une émission intitulée "In the Night Garden" et en tant qu'amateur de marionnettes et d'anciennes émissions pour enfants, j'ai regardé le casting et tout ce qui concerne cette émission. Une certaine Anne Wood était à la production, j'ai consulté sa page wiki juste pour découvrir qu'elle avait travaillé sur d'autres projets. Plus c'est vieux, mieux c'est (pour moi), sa première a été "Pob's Programme", une émission avec des invités (comme Roy Castle et beaucoup d'autres) et de la marionnette. J'ai cherché des épisodes sur Youtube juste pour découvrir qu'il y avait une petite playlist avec des extraits et deux épisodes. C'était drôle d'apprendre que le gimmick de Pob était de cracher sur l'écran. Dans une vidéo de cette playlist, il y avait une courte transition où l'on pouvait lire "Rebecca" suivi de "A John Pickstock Production for S4C" et j'étais intrigué, alors j'ai cherché des informations à ce sujet.

"Et maintenant ?" Voilà toutes les informations que j'ai :

- C'est à l'origine une émission galloise

- Elle présentait une poupée appelée Rebecca qui prenait des photos de la nature.

- Elle a été diffusée (à l'origine) sur S4C (je suppose que c'est une chaîne de télévision galloise)

- 5 saisons ont été produites entre 1986 et 1992.

- Elle a été produite et écrite par John et Wendy Pickstock

- J'ai découvert qu'elle avait peut-être également été diffusée sur d'autres chaînes dans d'autres pays tels que : Australie, Canada, Finlande, Inde, Irlande, Nouvelle-Zélande, Afrique du Sud, Royaume-Uni et États-Unis.

Toutes ces informations proviennent de "Welsh Media Wiki" (bonnes informations) et d'IMDB (informations moyennes, comme, ça dit que c'est du Royaume-Uni mais c'est faux) ; aussi, ces conclusions (surtout la dernière) proviennent de la vidéo de Pob car c'était une émission britannique présentant (brièvement) Rebecca.

J'aimerais trouver des extraits de l'émission Rebecca et/ou plus d'informations à son sujet.

I've just finished this mini-series produced by Central and I'm trying to wrap my head around the twists and turns of the plot. I’ve had the DVD for some time, but having finally got around to it, I watched the series over 10 days. It really did leave me guessing how it would all end. It’s incredibly tightly scripted and well-acted—Jim Broadbent and Alison Steadman are great together, and I loved the supporting turns from a young Martin Clunes and Sheila Hancock.  

I also really liked how it took an under-explored subject for drama like greyhound racing. It reminded me a bit of another gentle, character-driven comedy/drama produced by Central, Outside Edge.

For those who have seen it, what did you think? Also, I hear there's a sort-of follow-up called Gone to Seed, but the DVD looks quite expensive online. Is it worth hunting down?
