Hi all, We own Retro Oasis in Okotoks and while we have a decent customer base, it's still not enough to make ends meet every month. We still encounter people who have never heard of us in the almost 4 years we've been open. Summer months are sooo slooow.

We have great reviews and people really love our escape rooms. We've just renovated to make our party room and Arcade significantly bigger.

We'd love to partner with other local businesses in some way. We carry exclusively locally made beers and canned cocktails which are a big hit.

Any suggestions to get our name out there (beyond the obvious social media, Google ads, radio)?

We can't put out street signs as the town confiscated them. :( And puleeze don't suggest pinball....it's not an option.

Am I the only one who feels like Okotoks is really underserved when it comes to clothing alterations?
Whether it’s hemming pants, taking in a dress, repairing a zipper, or tailoring a suit, it seems like there are very few options in town. A lot of people end up driving to Calgary or waiting weeks to get something done.
With Okotoks continuing to grow, I’d think there would be enough demand to support another alterations business.
What’s been your experience?
Have you had trouble finding a good alterations shop?
How long have you had to wait?
Would you use another local tailor if one opened?

The pathway system here in Okotoks is above average - and walking is definitely an option but we would like to see a safer way to go quickly north/south on both Hwy 2A and 32St NE.
Can AB add some bike lanes to both streets?

A safe isolated bike lane on Hwy 7 from Diamond Valley to Aldersyde would also be nice.

Looking for a job and came across a couple ads for Best Western here in town. Like for most jobs and companies, there will always be the good and bad experiences. But does anyone here have experience in the local hotel(s) here for work? Used to work at or know someone who does?

For those living nearby - Start recording things TODAY...

Every week fill a glass of water inside your house, take a picture, document with date&time in the picture. Make note the pressure on the water, especially if you get water from a well.

Go outside on your porch and record the noise levels, again with pictures date/time etc.

Also document any environmental changes - less birds - dryer fields on the east side of Highway 2...

Keep doing this even after the datacentre(s) come online.

In case your water turns mucky or you get sick of a constant hum... you have a documented case... and lawyers LOVE documentation....

The whole thing started when my family said that they want more space. We liked Okotoks because it felt like a small town. The schools were good. The yards were big. The prices seemed fair

We thought we found the perfect place but decided to go with an agent anyway. Friends went with JD Real Estate and said that they liked it

Then our agent sat down with us before we made any offers. He said there were extra costs we needed to check first

He told us Okotoks has higher wildfire risk. Some insurance companies charge more because of that. Some refuse to cover certain homes at all. He showed us flood maps. He pointed out streets that had water damage in the past. He also showed us which areas were safe

We had two houses we really liked. One had a $4K wildfire fee each year on top of regular insurance. Another required expensive flood coverage. We didn't know these costs existed. They would have added hundreds of dollars to our monthly payments

Our agent didn't stop there. He found three homes for us in lower-risk areas. Their insurance costs were normal. We bought one of them and it had everything we wanted

Now we tell our friends: don't just look at the price tag. Ask about insurance. Ask about extra fees. And find an agent who knows the area well

Where's a good spot to watch? In the area around sheep. Was thinking lions park but unsure of the view
