I lost my files of the Harper Audio versions of CoN recently, and can't find a good copy online. Having bought old CDs in the past, I don't feel confident that a box set from the 90s would be in particularly good shape. And I can't buy the files for low download anywhere. I really want to have a copy of these that is unaffected by server outages.

Hi All, I'm planning on building a wooden case for a hardcover full colour collection. I'm into woodburning and would love some ideas as to what Narnian images/symbols etc I should burn into both ends of the box as well as the top/back even bottom. Just looking for some inspiration and any ideas are welcome. Thank you!

I don't know if anyone has ever noticed this (they probably have but haven't mentioned it) that both C.S. Lewis in "The Silver Chair" and J.R.R. Tolkien in (I believe the chapter is) "The Land of Shadow" have mentions of a castle named "Harfang"?

In Tolkien, it is only mentioned once that I remember, as being a castle along the orc-road heading north, whereas in "The Silver Chair" it has far more importance to the plot. In both cases it is associated with harsh, cruel lands, barren of growth, though in "Silver Chair" it's in the freezing north, and in Tolkien it's in near proximity to a volcano, in an area void of vegetation, so presumably hot.
Does anyone know what, if any, common reference these two friends had to both use the name?

Sorry--my bad! I just checked further and the castle in Mordor is "Durthang". Not sure how I mixed up those two! r/warp_legion is correct about the Ettenmoors, however.

I love the movies overall but how the witch is portrayed makes me sad (the two strongest figures and the female being the villain) and Edmund being naive.

I would love a version of there being a miss understanding and everything working out in the end.

Like if the lion king lived and Mufasa and Sarabi reigned and the kids fought for their parents to stay united lol

Every time i watch it i regress 20 years and im suddenly 5 years old sitting inches from the screen. and then just as suddenly its over and im filled with such an intense sadness and pain that i cant ever go to narnia. the older i get the more it hurts when the movie ends.

Hello, everyone! I’m rewatching Prince Caspian for probably the millionth time, and was wondering something. At the end of the surprise attack when the creature is holding up the gate and then he eventually collapses, I wonder why no one else attempted to help him hold up the gate. It would seem counterintuitive for someone not to help him, and in helping him more Narnians could’ve escaped. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Do you think this is just for dramatic effect?

So I had this idea for an alternate universe Narnia story where the kids don't die but live through their adult lives using the lessons learned from Narnia to make the UK a better place. No magic, nor is Aslan "physically" present but spiritually present throughout. The idea came based on a simple question: What if the Pevinse's allowed Britain to be the kind of nation that they thought they were?

Edmund - in my alternate timeline, Edmund replaces Anthony Eden as Prime Minister of Great Britain. The real change in the timeline is that he navigates the Suez Crisis in a way that maintains the honor of Great Britain, setting up for a "Commonwealth of Equals" as the Empire dissolves. The real crux of the story is the Prime Minister's audience with the Queen. The thought of "Crown-Like" conversations between technically two sovereigns is a tantalizing prospect. Oh and the Queen figures it out because she recognizes someone who understands the burden of duty. So the audiences can be a place where Narnia is spoken freely.

Peter - He becomes Edmund's top general. Inverting the High King dynamic since he now answers to Edmund.

Susan - To honor her fall of the Last Battle (but also giving her a redemption arc), she becomes a world-class BBC presenter. Vain, shallow, and a celebrity beauty. She is distant with her family until tragedy strikes.

Lucy - She has the best life of all. A simple country librarian utterly at peace with her life. (She also marries a man who is EXACTLY like Reepicheep) Her Library is a haven for her other siblings.

Story Threads

The Suez Crisis - Edmund navigates the crisis with grace and dignity. Warning Eisenhower of the plot and working with Nassar to protect the Canal in a way that benefits Egypt and the international community.

Education Reform - This is where Jill and Eustace comes in. Edmund, Eustace and Jill fight tooth and nail to reform schools so that school is never like the Experiment House ever again. They will be thwarted at every turn by a Permanent Secretary who has remarkable resemblance to the White Witch. (Even a scene where the Secretary offers Prime Minister Pevinsee Turkish Delight)

The Aberfan disaster - The spiritual climax of the story and the end of Edmund's political career if the disaster at Aberfan. Unlike real life where the Government and the National Coal Board hemmed and hawed and denied accountability. Edmund expends every ounce of political capital he has to assure justice for the victims of Aberfan. This tragedy is also what makes Susan a "friend of Narnia" again and her grief brings her back to her family. She uses her prowess at the BBC to assure that she helps her brother cause heads to role for accountability. This is what ends Edmunds Premiereship but he holds his head high for a job well done.

Just thought I share this, I have a summer job that the only thing I'm allowed to have is a notebook so I have been sketching out these thoughts.

There's so many to choose from but the ones that would stand out to me would probably be a story about one of King Frank's children or grand children. Maybe about the founding of Archenland. Or maybe a book that focuses on Caspian's ancestors when they were still in our world and how they crossed over.

Considering getting at least part of it as a tattoo.

Having completed both a watch-through of the BBC TV adaptations and the movies, I'm interested to see how the audio versions of the story hold up against them.

Where do you think is the best place to start from? I'm looking for one with a full cast.

Every time I read or listen to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, I always wonder what was going on in the rest of the world. Archenland, Calormen, Ettinamoor, Lone Islands, etc. Do you think the other lands were affected by the White Witch's magic? Or do you think it was business as usual everywhere else? I lean towards the last option personally.

I love the little joke it becomes but i just do not understand why he would have never heard those words before. He also had closets and normal furniture in his house? and the house has rooms? They both speak english and there’s never any other words that aren’t known. I’m just confused about it haha
