We go to Ocean City, NJ every year in early August. We've tried fishing surf, piers, and a couple charters but nothing has been great. Is the fishing just kind of dead this time of year?

I found this very interesting! I saw these in a video of snappers at Manasqan Inlet today!

Attempted to catch my first striped bass but missed the spring run, decided to wait until fall run comes, in meantime what fish can I target from shore?

Day off, so decided to fish somewhere cleaner than the lower passaic. Caught at least 8 smallies on the Rockaway River. All small, this one in the picture was the biggest. Caught on a mini trout rapala.

Im new to fishing . I seen a boat coming super fast into the inlet . So I started reeling in and the boat got my line and took all of it . I didn’t want to grab the reel and I didn’t have anything to cut it within reach . Are you supposed to just let it go ? Did I do the right thing ? Or should I have grabbed my reel and snapped the line ? The reel was spinning fast it look liked it would burn 🤣

I found this hidden pond that was tucked away right next to the Passaic. As I fished it, I noticed turtles swimming around, but no sign of fish. As I moved the another spot, I found dried up fish spines, dead bass and bluegill, and a fresh crappie that was dead on the shore. What could have happened? Clearly some fish survived, but they won’t bite.

I've driven by the place recently and was wondering if it might be a good place to fish the Raritan River. Specifically the eastern park of the park, near the boathouse.

Im a bass fisherman primarily and I cant for the life of me catch a fluke. Ive been trying from the surf at Island Beach State Park and throwing a 1/2 oz jig with a teaser rig and berkeley gulp. I went once early June and last week but still havent been able to land a fluke.
Anyone have any tips or spots that might help me fulfill my catch and cook dreams?

Visiting beach haven from PA for a few days, I do a ton of freshwater fishing but I've never surf fished before. Does anybody have any advice if I'm fishing from the beach? Not sure on what baits/setups to use. I plan on using my 6'6" MH Ugly Stik GX2 with a Okuma Epixor XT30 with 20lb (might be 30lb) braid. Any advice is appreciated!

Hey all, going to visit friends in Egg Harbor township near the Bargaintown Pond. I'm told the pond itself is freshwater, but the bridge on Poplar ave has saltwater species. I'm pretty good on my freshwater lures but any tips to pack for the saltwater fish? I have saltwater fishbites, nuclear chicken and white curly tails and a pack of live perserved minnows. Berkley fake worms and maggots i usually use for fresh as well as crank and frogs. Also, are you able to fish near the bait and tsckle shop / marina on ocean heights ave or the end of poplar ave past the country club? Just curious what the legal and legit fishing spots are around the area. Any info would be helpful, thanks!

I was fishing off the surf today it was maybe an hour or 2 after low tide and there was several stripers in the pool before the sandbar feeding on probably sand fleas, I was throwing everything at them & they actually were getting spooked. I threw on a couple sand fleas and still nothing. Any recommendations

Want to take my kids fishing/crabbing someplace. We usually have gone to the dock in seaside, but looking maybe to try someplace new that may have some more life fishing wise. Been thinking Keyport, haven’t been there in a while, but not sure if any other spots. Not looking to catch huge fish or even keepers, but just some action for the kids, catch some crabs. Anyone have any good spots? Preferably not too far south, we are in Union county

The Heart of Woodstown: A Guide to Memorial Lake
Just about every local community has a physical center and then it has a cultural center—a place where history, nature, and daily life quietly intersect. For the historic Borough of Woodstown, that cultural center is Veteran Memorial Lake (often known warmly by locals as Memorial Lake or Woodstown Lake).
Spanning the border of town life and wild deep, southern New Jersey riparian beauty, this public sanctuary is owned and maintained by the Borough of Woodstown. It is a scenic hub for reflection, a haven for native wildlife, a living testament to Salem County’s resilient spirit, and a place for remembrance of “our boys who made the supreme sacrifice..”

I'm heading down to OC NJ next week. I'm a catch and release guy. Is anyone having any luck? I'll fish from the beach in the mornings and also the state park area. I'll be bringing multiple rods to catch anything from a flounder to a shark (12' rod).
I have clam and blood worm fishbites.

Hello all , avid bass fisherman for years in NJ and just wanted to share my experience with you . Over the years I have purchased many custom glide baits and lures from small companies and have never had a bad experience until recently using a company called “ Fish Everything “ on Instagram.. In April I ordered a few custom lures from him , paid , and got my order confirmation .. Weeks went by with no shipping update so I reached out to him with no response . I tried again multiple times to reach out through Dm and also through company email and got nothing . I saw him make a post last week so in the comments I asked him to please look into my order and then throughout the day others commented that they have been dealing with the same crap .
That night miraculously I got a response from him on email saying “ your order was lost , refunding now “.. It has now been over a week and I’ve yet to get refunded . I once again reached out with no response of course, and at this point it’s been 3 months of dealing with this ..I checked swimbait underground and there was a section of guys also talking about bad experiences ordering from him .. I have no recourse through the BBB as his company is not registered, and at this point I’ve given up on the money but just wanted to share my experience with the group so you can avoid the same issues .. I would never bad mouth a business over an isolated mistake , but when multiple customers are telling you they have not received their orders and you‘re posting content while ignoring them , there is a problem.. Any questions feel free to reach out .. Tight lines !

It’s getting hot here and the trout fishing isn’t going so well. Accidentally caught a few juvenile smallies on the NB and have since switched to bass fishing. Not looking to get a whole new set up right now but fully intend to soon. I live right next to the wing dams in Lambertville if it helps.
Will a 5wt work in the meantime?

Its behind Roger Wilco on 73. Right next to a Park and Ride. Just scouting new spots and wondering if its worth checking out.

Alright NJ anglers I have a question for everyone. I’m on the hunt to find yellow perch in the central/north Jersey areas. I’ve had a species list for this year and the yellow perch is the last one to get. Does anyone have any recommendations for spots?
I primarily fish ultralight and finesse from the bank.

Hello - I am new to fishing. Have been on few trips but without luck.
Can someone suggest or DM me a spot that I can try. I won't abuse that place - I promise, just want to be at a spot that someone else had luck with.
I went to the lake near Menlo Park Mall, even tried the creek in the parking lot on the other side of that big lake, went to one in Union [unfortunately snake was coming to take the bite].
So want to try one to get the feel and slow down
