I posted before, but I realized I should have added more photos of my dress. To briefly summarize, I went shopping with my mom to check out prices of off-the-rack wedding dresses without thinking I would buy the dress that day. I wasn't prepared to buy my wedding dress; I was just looking at options for the FIRST TIME. I had never tried on wedding dresses prior and had only looked at prices online. When I walked into the store, they had a medium to small selection of dresses, and I tried on three. The first one I really liked was beautiful to me because I love the sleeves, and it covers my arms, which I am very insecure about. The other two were also beautiful but didn't sit right on my body (it made me feel fatter).

Anyways, I impulsively bought my dress. I had only seen three options and didn't see other stores to check out what options of dresses they had. I don't think my dress is ugly by any means, but I am just saddened at the idea that I didn't fully explore any other options. There could have been a better dress out there waiting for me.

The price of my dress was also very GOOD. I had a budget of 1.5k, and my dress was 800. Aside from being saddened at the idea that I didn't explore at all for wedding dresses, I am also worried that my dress looks cheaply made. I thought I scored a good deal, but my knowledge on wedding dresses is piss poor. When I saw my dress, I thought it looked much more pricier than an 800 dollar dress so I thought I was getting a good deal, but after scouring the internet, I may have been wrong.

I found this dress for $600 CAD and was super happy with it!! It was everything I wanted. Strapless, a-line, organza overlay! Loved the pleating too.

I had previously impulsively bought a dress (pic 2). because the price was nice, I love the way it looked on me, even though I didn’t like the aesthetic (I like clean lines and satin/mikado no lace). I still feel good about the dress, but I couldn’t help but think about what I really wanted. And I found another dress (1) and absolutely fell in love. It taught me to stick to my instincts, but also not to rush the process. I know the second dress I chose was the one because I didn’t want to take it off and I can’t wait to wear it again! The original dress in the last pic will be my reception dress as it is lighter and easier to dance in.

Hi y'all! I'm looking for advice from you lovely ladies. I found my dresss! It will need taken in cos I gained quite a bit of happy weight 🫠 and have 6ish months to lose that. My question is whether I should alter it further. I've posted my close second fave, which almost had my heart due to the neckline, showstopping huge flowers in the back and the slit. But the other one just made me so ready to leave the shop right then and go marry my guyyy! Like get him a plane ticket pronto, wherever he at lol. So my question does it look worth make the neckline more sweetheart/slight plunge with a slit in the bottom? And also any veil ideas are welcome, cos I'd love one with more going on in the back/will accentuate the small flowers in the train, cathedral length, with a longer blusher? Does that even exist and where do I start looking? Thank you in advance!

I really don’t have a set wedding dress style I like. I am having a spring wedding in CA hills overlooking a huge valley view. I really think all these dresses are so beautiful and am having a hard time narrowing it down. The dress with pink details(picture 2) seems to be a family favorite followed but the whimsical textured dress(picture 3). The mermaid( last pic) is also a favorite but I am slightly concerned about the “sheer” vibe it gives off. I will say it’s extremely flattering. Please let me know any thoughts!!!

Couldn’t find a dress that I wanted, so I had one made! I really wanted a floral dress with some color, but all I could find was dresses with soft pinks, purples, or blues. Was about the same price as other dresses I was looking at anyway. The only down side is I lost 20lbs from the time we took my measurements to now, so I still need to see a seamstress to the waist and chest brought in. Either way, I absolutely love it and can’t wait to wear it!

Love both of these dresses so much! Both Jenny Yoo. All lace is Bella, softer floral is Gwendolyn. I love vintage and Bella gives me that vibe that fits with my personality. Gwendolyn is just soft and feminine.

The beading on my mother’s dress has yellowed, does it look uniform enough to wear as is? Should I consider rebeading the dress? I plan to have it taken in and steamed.

I posted here last week asking for some opinions between 3 dresses and wanted to come back with an update because I am bouncing off the walls over here! I had a horrible experience shopping in my city locally and was really pressured into buying a dress that wasn’t me. Finally broke down and told my mom I hated my dress and she took me for a shopping weekend in NYC to find my dream gown. I had nothing but amazing shopping experiences at the boutiques there and tried on around 45 dresses (I have an amazing stack of photos of ones that ended up being no’s that I loved that I can’t wait to have a page for in my wedding album one day!)

In the end dress 1 from my post won. I tried it on 3 times at 2 boutiques and I could not stop thinking about it between try-ons. It’s the only dress I cried in every time I put it on, and I’m not a crier. I never thought I’d have that emotional reaction to my wedding dress but it’s SO COOL when it happens. I didn’t want to take it off. It’s the kind of dress I’d regret not choosing for the rest of my life if I didn’t choose it.

I was originally going to change the nude lining to ivory but have decided to leave it blush, I love it so much as is I’m scared to change anything major about it and risk not liking it as much when it comes in. I am also very fair and have red hair and the blush undertones really compliment my skin and hair, the whiter I go I tend to get a bit washed out. I also love how the ivory lace sits on the blush. The bottom half will be lined with an opaque lining matching the color, you can’t see my legs at all when that is done (you kind of can in some of these pics so just wanted to give that disclaimer). I get to go out to NYC for my fittings next year before the wedding and I’m over the moon. I had the best weekend out there with my mom and aunt and can’t wait to do it again 🥲 it was such a magical experience, so different than my first shopping experience here and I’m so thrilled to get to wear this dress.

I wasn't sure I wanted a train and now I hate the bustle. Warranted or not?

So I'm just bummed, because I *really* like this dress, and it feels like the bustle doesn't do it justice. I think mostly, I should've gone into my appointment with certainty. Instead, I said "I don't think I want a train" to which the seamstress responded "you gotta have a train, it's a wedding dress!". So I feel like I didn't really choose, and it was 300$$$, when all it needed was a hem (and a bustle because of the train I didn't really want). At this point, I'm just sad because this seamstress was taunted to be the very best at what she does, but through the entire process I just felt rushed and now I have something I didn't want, and I can't even bustle it nicely for the reception. I just want a pretty and cozy dress without the unnecessary bells and whistles...and I don't want to spend a fortune! I wanted simplicity and I feel cheated.

My shoulders are my insecurity - my dress is needing alterations and is 1.5 sizes too big currently. Does it suit me?

Hi everyone! I said yes to the dress, but now that it’s been altered I’m starting to feel like it doesn’t fit my body the way I hoped.
The dress is backless (I’ve attached a photo of how it looked when I first tried it on, along with how it looks now after alterations). My biggest concern is the top… it still feels huge on me (first picture attached) especially around the bust. I have a very small chest, and because the dress is backless, I know there are fewer alteration options.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Are there any alterations that could make the bodice look more fitted and flattering on a smaller chest? I’ve thought about removing the bra cups and possibly taking in the neckline or straps, but I’m not sure what would actually help.

I haven’t tried elsewhere yet besides Anthropologies, everyone initially said the dress with the scarf looks great but after looking at pictures my mom and I thought the A line(?) Poofier gown looks good too and it makes my flabby arm looks not flabby lol

Wedding is mid August, and the dress with the scarf may not make it with the delivery and alterations needed (trimming the hem) I wasn’t planning on wearing a real wedding dress, just a two piece outfit since it’ll just be a quick blessings at the church/courthouse, but now I wonder…

We’re planning to do a wedding photoshoot next year in May at SF Cityhall too, wondering if I should just save it and try more dresses instead of getting one.

Side Note: I wanted something classic, timeless, and simple, I’m thinking of lace cathedral veil and pearl earrings. But after trying the bonus pict with the Mermaid Lace dress I’m obsessed, too bad I couldn’t pull of the front side 🥲

I am getting married in the Dordogne valley next June the venue is an old castle EKK. The theme is like old romance/dark medieval lightly gothic. The first dress is one I was working with a local designer. I love it but I’m not sure about the hem now for the ceremony? The back is undone but would be a bow that’s trailing down the train. The second dress is one I thrifted and caught me by surprise how much I like it, I’m just not sure if it’s too sweet to fit into a dark moody romance these? Which of these dresses fits the vibe better? I want to feel cool but beautiful! They both need a little more work if I were to wear them but overall what do we think

Sharing some of the options of wedding dresses and my wedding dress that I went with. Can you guess which one I went with and which you think looks best?

I got my dress back from alterations and when I tried it on in the store, it fit great. But as I wore it at home yesterday, the boning started folding a ton. Is this fixable? I’m freaking out haha. I’m wondering because I wore it for a while, the boning got warm and started folding? Is the boning just too long?
