What's your favourite performance of his?

We always talk about great movies with terrible endings, but what about the opposite?

A film where you were mostly bored or indifferent for the first hour and a half, but the climax or twist was executed so well that you walked away feeling like it was actually worth the watch?

First, anyone who has worked corporate in any industry can appreciate having to increasingly dumb down an urgent crisis the higher the chain of command you go. This is the film’s most entertaining throughline. The plot shows each level of management understand Zachary Quinto less and less. Him being told by CEO Jeremy Irons to “Speak as you might to a young child or a golden retriever” makes me laugh every time.

Second, I’m currently a compliance manager and have worked in the financial services industry for 20 years. I can definitely relate with Stanly Tucci in this regard. However, when I was 25 in 2008 working a brokerage call center… I was certainly the insufferable newbie crying in the bathroom stall.

Lastly, Margin Call to me is how I imagine Office Space is to software engineers. Each character a finance archetype. Which is why it’s easily my favorite “Wall Street” film as it’s the most personally relatable. The faceless administrative workers delivering late night paperwork. Cleaning staff. Who notices them? Nobody. Barely the audience. Wealthy managers firing a bunch of people because they are “broke” while making a million per year? Grossly realistic.

*So what’s unrealistic? That anyone took Quinto’s character that seriously that quickly.

I mean, who could say no to that face?

Starship Troopers (1997)

Maybe it's just me, but the Avengers: Doomsday trailer didn't really make me feel like I was seeing Steve Rogers and Thor again.

Chris Evans looked more like... Chris Evans than Steve Rogers. And Hemsworth felt more like himself than Thor.

Especially the final moment between them. Instead of feeling like Cap and Thor reunited, it honestly felt like Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth sharing the screen.

One thing that really stood out was Thor's hair. I know Hemsworth doesn't like wearing the long wig, but I don't think that's a good reason to change such an iconic part of the character's look. The short hair just made him feel even less like Thor to me.

Am I the only one who felt this way, or did anyone else have the same reaction?

I didn’t really understand who the giants were while watching the movie, since the film doesn’t spend much time explaining them, so I looked it up afterwards.

They’re called the Laestrygonians, and in Homer’s Odyssey, they’re a race of cannibalistic giants ruled by King Antiphates.

When Odysseus’ men arrive in their land, they initially approach the king’s palace looking for hospitality. Instead, Antiphates immediately kills and eats one of them. The other Laestrygonians then attack the Greek fleet, throwing massive rocks from the cliffs and destroying almost every ship.

Odysseus’ own ship is the only one that escapes because he had cautiously left it outside the harbour. This is actually a huge moment in the original story: Odysseus goes from commanding an entire fleet to having only one ship left.

So they’re not really characters with a long backstory or an important mythology of their own. They appear very suddenly, completely destroy Odysseus’ fleet, and then disappear from the story just as quickly.

That probably explains why the scene feels slightly random in the movie. Without knowing the original poem, they can easily seem like unexplained giant warriors rather than one of the most disastrous encounters of Odysseus’ journey.

Am I the only one who felt the movie could have explained them a little more?

I recently rewatched Con Air and I was reminded of just how insanely tight the character writing is. It’s one of those rare movies where literally no one feels like a filler character or a lazy plot device.
What are some other movies where every single main and opposing character feels that meticulously characterized and cast? TY

I’ll start, for Danny, Lethal Weapon 1-4 and Prince of Egypt and For John, John Wick and Romeo and Juliet and for Albert, Taxi Driver and Finding Nemo and for Louise, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest

In frame: Midnight In Paris.

Basically those films where the frames are so visually comforting that you end up rewatching them just for that.

A summer comedy/adventure with nice humor and action.

Dunno what's wrong with critics, Kate Hudson is very good in this film and I just read that they hated her and even gave her a worst actress award, while I was looking for images to select for this post.

It's a light comedy what did they want her to do exactly, I don't get it.

Anyways, if you don't know it and you have access to it it's a perfect movie for the summer.

EDIT: There is a single scene where I felt she did unfitting facial expressions, or maybe just a bit too cringe, with the rich guy (Donald Sutherland) and his daughter, but come on, It's a 2 seconds shot.

Hi everyone. I love just grabbing some good food and relaxing alone with a nice thriller or mystery movie to recharge after a long week.

I came across this tier list for movie plot twists and honestly, I think it is very debatable. For example, is Get Out really that predictable to be in the bottom tier? And I feel The Prestige should definitely be much higher up.

Also, I just noticed they spelled "Coming" wrong in the second tier lol.

What would you guys change in this list? And please suggest some solid mind-blowing movies that are missing here so I can add them to my watch list!

Hey guys, hanging out with my friends tonight and planning to watch a movie together.

Which one from this list would be the best pick for a group watch? We want something engaging that keeps everyone hooked.

In this movie DJ Drake needs rescue his father from Mr Chairman with help from Daffy Duck and Bugs bunny .I loved that scene where Shaggy criticise Matthew Lillard for his performance in live action Scooby Doo.

I made the mistake of going to Dune 2 in IMAX without earplugs. It was so loud I had to cover my ears for nearly the entire movie.

So before watching the Oddesey I made sure to pack a pair of earplugs and it was honestly so enjoyable, as I could still feel the rumble and loud sounds, without the ear bleed.

At one point during the film at a part that felt extremely loud, I looked around and everyone looked as if the sound was as casual as watching something at home on the couch.

I honestly have no clue as to how someone can watch an IMAX movie at what I'm guessing is "normal" volume.

Does anyone else feel this way?
