Hello everyone,
Lately there has been a massive influx of art submitted to the subreddit. While I do not have a large problem with this, it has gotten a bit overwhelming and is strongly competing with musical posts. So I have a couple of questions:
Let me know what you all think and I will work on getting rules and such in place.

Link to last challenge
See original post to how this all started.
Let’s mahfuckin’ do this. If you are new welcome and if you aren't welcome back!
We’re actually going to turn non-metal songs into metal songs - but with a twist. Your submission must include at least 1 original riff that fits the song (it could even be a solo, that counts). You also don’t have to copy the song riff by riff - feel free to change the key, the time signature, etc. You can totally make a blackened grind version of a Taylor Swift song, for example. You have complete control over the direction. Instrumentals are not allowed for this challenge. However, you are allowed to isolate your song’s original vocal track and put them in your song (remember, we’re not making money from this, so have fun!).
For the purposes of this challenge here are banned genres to cover:
You may choose any genre outside the banned genres. You can choose pop, dance, rap, indie, disco, jazz, anything. If you’re not sure if your song meets the requirements, feel free to ask.
Your song can be from any era. It can be a current chart-topper, or it can be something from the past.
Your song can be in any language. Pretty self explanatory.
Your cover can be a banned genre. This means while you can’t choose a song from the banned genres to cover, your cover can be any genre. For example, if you choose to cover “Straight Outta Compton” by NWA and make it a Nu Metal banger, you absolutely can.
If one artist is covering a song, you cannot choose that song. We’re going to do this on a first-come-first-serve basis, so when you’re commenting, claim the song you’re going to cover. This is to avoid having repeating “Dancing Queen”, “Hotel California”, “Take on Me”, or [insert very popular song here] covers in one compilation. Feel free using songs mentioned in this post btw!
Submit song entries to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Please include
Once again, this month’s charity will be MusiCares. They provide a safety net of critical health and welfare services to the music community including in areas such as: Mental Health & Addiction Recovery Services, Health Services, and Human Services. See their website if you’re curious.
I will post a screenshot of how much we received from the bandcamp page as well as the donation in a separate thread as proof.
Please ask if you need clarity on the rules or anything else and I’ll try my best to clarify as much as I can.
Remember that this is purely for fun, to learn, build community, and to grow as musicians while also doing something for a good cause, not a competition. Big thanks to all of you!
I created a discord server for our songwriting challenges so we can archive them, have discussions, and build our community there. Let me know if you want to join by commenting and I’ll send a DM 🙂

Hi guys, I am new to this subreddit. I have been practicing metal vocals seriously for about 2 years. I just decided to buy a mic and a sounding board, and I wanted to ask you what you would recommend as a learning path for editing vocals and using my current setup. My setup right now is the following:
I am able to sing fry screams quite decently; my false chord is not so good tho, however, my strong point are hybrids; they are similar to the ones that Phil Bozeman do (keeping the distances, obviously; he is such a beast)
The problem is that I don't have any knowledge related to vocal processing and vocal singing with a mic, so if you could share your tips or recommendations, I would be very grateful.

Ok, so i consider myself a "solo producer" in that i play guitar and make songs in reaper by myself. I will preface that im not looking to start a band or anything as i dont have time for that, music making is simply my hobby. One thing i will say that i am missing out on are sick metal vocals to pair with my songs. I have a wide range of styles and over 30ish songs "fully" produced (to the best of my ability). So, if anyone wants a cool weekend project to slap down some vocals and send me recordings i would be all ears. Also if you have any recordings of your vocal style drop them below and ill listen and see if the style fits with any of my songs!

Hello!! I’m from the band Rude Cohesion, it’s a solo metal / punk project based in the small town of Crescentino, Italy. I recently released my first EP titled Idiocy on YouTube, Soundcloud and Bandcamp, and will arrive soon on major streaming platforms such as Spotify. It’s a mix of metalcore, hardcore punk, thrash metal, grindcore, so if you’re into that sort of stuff, check it out!

I'm working on a brutal death metal project and for some reason I just can not get the drums to sound good. I'm using addictive drums which I use for everything else and for some reason they just sound totally fake and shitty and overpower the guitar. I can't figure out why in the world it's like this. I'm using Logic Pro. The bass track is MIDI since i'm on vacation and don't have a bass with me, just a guitar. But that's only a placeholder until I get home and record actual bass tracks. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!

I originally made this years ago as a picking speed exercise when I learned to pick up and down on leads , then tried to make it into a metal shred , funny my metal head freinds call this rock, my rock guitar freinds call me a metal head, stuck in between lol , I call it blues metal fusion 🎸

Started writing and recording about a month ago and didn’t realize how much eq/mixing etc was involved, I’m still learning and dialing in this song but would love any tips or advice!

What bands does this vocal style remind you of?
r/metalmusicians • u/BeardInspired • 1d ago
I hope this is okay to ask here. I'm a bit disconnected from being in a band myself, been a long time, and I don't really know where bands/musicians look for merch designs and designers.
I do art for my beard care company but have been having a ton of fun designing apparel, and I just can't justify always printing for my own business. I thought maybe I'd start trying to sell the designs but I'm not sure where to post them in order to get the right eyes on them. I'd love any recommendations on where people look these days. I've had Etsy recommended, my default is social media like Instagram, maybe Fiverr?
Added pictures of the two designs I currently want to try and put up for sale in case that gives a better idea. Appreciate any help!

hey im drew made this metal shred , worked hard on it, anyone feelin this?, i calll this metal blues fusion but some say its rock, feels like metal to me, i think its hard to put a instrumental like this into a box and call it one kind of music or another , i always tried to make my own sound and style , but 80s metal was my influence, never took lessons started in 86 trying to play to my favorite jams by bands like ratt and dokken , rock on metal musicians of reddit 🎸
