Cupholder solution for the 2020 CX-3

The cup holder... whoever designed this should be slapped. Repeatedly.

The front half collapses if you breathe on it wrong. The back half, well, hope you don't want to use the armrest if you have anything more than a 12-ounce can... AND flip the arm rest up every time you want to actually drink the beverage.

I abandoned the back half, and use that to hold hand wipes.

In the front half, I tried many different products trying to make something that would hang onto a variety of cup sizes, as well as be stable for my regular reusable water bottle. After a half a dozen (or so) variations, I finally stumbled upon this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QG2ZZYH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Which I cut in half, placing the cut side towards the back. It shoves down into the hole securely, I didn't need any sort of adhesive in order to hold it into place. Yes, it's slightly askew, and doesn't fit completely flush to the front. I'm okay with that, as it's solid, and my beverages stay put.

I didn't test if the thing would fit without cutting it in half, it might actually work and provide two cup holders, I just didn't need that, my passengers can use the door holder.

Before anyone asks, I cut it with a fine blade on my chop saw.

Fuel - km left reading

I have had my CX 3 for 5+ years. Every time I fill up the readout says 624km to go on the tankful. I got a new battery and now an oil change in the past two weeks, and now when I filled up, it says 580km to go. What could this be?

Thanks

Tony

Bought this 2016 CX3 with a beat up steering wheel, and wanted to fix it up without breaking the bank. Now to find a compatible armrest, add apple carplay and find some budget friendly auto body work 😂

bunch of check lights turned on then off?

2019 cx-3 sport

was driving earlier and all of these lights except the scheduled maintenance one turned on. at the same time i noticed my HUD stopped showing my speed and perpetually indicated that a car was to my right. i also noticed the AC was not as cool as literally an hour before. i didn’t notice any difference in the steering or ABS however

a few hours later i turn the car on and all the lights save the maintenance one went away, and the HUD and AC worked as usual. is this something to worry about, or just a false positive kinda thing? this is my first car so still learning a lot. i checked online and it seems like people have said it’s a battery issue, but just wanna confirm

Anyone have recommendations for this specific type of arm rest for my 2016 CX3? I ordered one of the ones that just slides in but it wasn’t compatible. Would appreciate any guidance or suggestions!

Just tried this in the CX3 and it works just as well as the wireless in our other car. This is not an ad, just letting you know there's quick and cheap solution to remove the wire.

Any Weird Dings or Chimes Out There?

I've noticed a few times over the past several weeks that after I start the car and start driving, I'll hear some softer chimes or dinging. Sometimes due a very short amount of time others for longer. I don't see any warning lights, there's nothing on the passenger seat that might trigger a seatbelt or airbag warning.

I'm not on mushrooms or gummies so I don't think I'm imagining it. Any ideas?

Dog crate recommendations for a 2019 CX-3? (The boot is tiny!)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a secure dog crate that actually fits in the boot of my 2019 CX-3, and it’s proving to be a bit of a nightmare.

As we all know, the boot space is pretty compromised, it’s shallow, the rear window is heavily slanted, and the lowered boot floor means a lot of standard crates won't clear the lip or end up hitting the glass when you close the hatch.

Has anyone had any success fitting a crate in the back without permanently folding the rear seats down?

I’ve looked into a few options that are supposed to be good for subcompact hatchbacks (like Ruffland, TransK9, and Flexxy), but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger without knowing it actually fits.

If you have a crate that works, I’d love to know the brand and model. Alternatively, if putting the seats down or using a back-seat crash harness is realistically the only way to go in this car, let me know that too!

Pictures of your setups would be massively appreciated. Thanks!

Buying used CX-3

Hey,

I'm thinking of getting a Mazda CX-3 from 2016/17 and had a few questions. - What's the fuel economy like, both in the city and on the highway? - When you're on the highway, does it feel more like a Mazda 2 or a Mazda 3? - How's the soundproofing?

Backup cam guide lines wider after replacement

I have a 2017 Mazda CX-3 GX AWD. I took it in to the dealer for some (unrelated) routine maintenance and they replaced the backup cam due to a recall.

Since the swap, I’m pretty sure the yellow lines are no longer in the same spot on the screen. The yellow rectangle is quite a bit wider horizontally compared to before the swap, so that, if I do everything the same, I end up with an extra foot or so of space on the side that I’m lining up.

Both people who drive this car noticed this independently.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Do the yellow lines roughly correspond to where the sides of the car are for you?

Is this something I can fix on my own? The dealer is a bit of a trek.

Mazda dealer wanted €700 for Apple CarPlay. Here is my €90 alternative for my CX-3 (Spanish Market, Zenith white, 2018)

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my current infotainment setup on my Spanish-market Mazda CX-3 and get your thoughts on it.
Mine is the Zenith trim (White), which was the absolute top-of-the-range model here in Spain back when it was manufactured. It comes packed with all the high-end extras: the premium Bose sound system, leather/Alcantara interior, heated seats, Head-Up Display, and the top engine option. However, missing out on standard CarPlay by just a hair is a bit ironic. My car was manufactured exactly one month before Mazda started including the OEM CarPlay module as standard equipment.
When I asked my local dealership about retrofitting the official module, they quoted me a staggering €700. Look, I understand it requires professional labor, and completely dismantling the dashboard to swap a hardware module isn't exactly a five-minute job, but €700 still felt vastly overpriced when alternative solutions exist and the part costs exactly 49€.
Instead of dropping that kind of cash, I decided to go a different route. For that budget, I preferred investing in a professional hardwired 4-channel dashcam setup which works flawlessly and even after buying this secondary screen, I still saved a couple hundred euros.
Here is the breakdown of this €90 alternative that I've been running for about 6 months now:
• The Screen: It's an almost FullHD display that feels incredibly fluid. It supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it even includes a mirroring feature, meaning you can park up and watch Netflix on it.
• Audio & Controls: It syncs perfectly with the factory steering wheel controls and voice commands.
• Power: It runs seamlessly via USB-C to USB-C (hooked up to a dual Anker 12V car charger) or via a standard USB-C to USB-A cable.
• Mounting & Cable Management: The screen is magnetic and comes with its own robust air vent mounts, though I actually reused an ESR MagSafe mount I already had installed for my iPhone. To avoid an ugly cable hanging down the dash, I used a 50cm cable routed cleanly along the trim using tiny, transparent adhesive wire clips.
As a side note, because I barely drive it these days, the car has just crossed the 36,500 km mark, so it still feels brand new.
How do you guys think it looks compared to the OEM screen layout? Would you have paid the €700 for the factory integration, or does a standalone screen like this make more sense to you?
Let me know your thoughts!

Edit (power cable was not hidden yet when the pics were taken)

What roof box will fit my CX-3?

Just got a CX-3 with OEM rails and looking for a roof box for whenever I'm going on longer trips. I'm considering the Thule Force 3 S. The Force S is quite a bit wider than the M and L-versions and I'm worried it will be too large for the rails.

Otherwise, all the Thule boxes are at least 175 cm long, and I imagine they will stick out past the windshield quite a way.

Does anyone have any experiences with what roof box is optimal for the CX-3?

Squealing

Hi all

Got my 2018 Mazda cx3 on Thursday afternoon. Been driving it with no issues since. Today... I have found that when I have been driving in driving (between 5mph and 25mph) there is an intermittent squeal. Not loud but it's there.

The car has not been driven in months, no issues with handling, breaking, suspension etc.

Just wondered if I could have your thoughts as to whether this may be a major issue or something that should die down eventually now it's being driven.

I've heard if could be rust, dust etc.

Its a 2018, Mazda cx3. 28k on the clock 2l petrol

Any guidance or help would be great otherwise it will drive me insane. I'm gonna keep an eye on it for a few days, and I'm doing some mileage in it tomorrow so may be able to get a gauge on whether it is a just today thing or whether it's going to be a regular occurrence.

Also have a service booked in for next month at a Mazda dealer. MOT beginning of the year had no advisories etc

Thanks all

UPDATE: Been to and from work the past 2 days 30 mins each way and just taken it out for an hour and no squeak!!!! Turns out a lot of other road users have squeaks though 🤣 and birds chirp a lot!
