We all know the big popular beaches but what about about the hidden gems.
Dooega, Achill. Blue flag beach off the beaten track. No lifeguard though.

Safe parking in castlebar?
Just wondering where’s the safest spot to leave my car for a few days in castlebar, preferably as close to boots/mr price as possible! Getting bus to airport from that bus stop. I know train station is the safest option that springs to mind but just such a far walk to lug my bags over to the bus stop!! Grma in advance 🙏🏻

Any LGBT in Castlebar?
I’m 30F and basically have no friends. No one to hangout with or do fun stuff with. Bonus if you’re a lesbian as I am too. I’d like more gay friends too if possible as I feel like I’m the only gay in the village and it’s very depressing and lonely. If anyone is out there please feel free to reach out as I’m bored shitless…thanks 🙃

Remote workers in Achill - fancy a coffee and a chat?
Hey everyone,
If you’re working remotely or hybrid in Achill, we’re hosting a relaxed Last Friday Coffee + Connect meetup on Friday, 31st July at 11:30am at Ted’s, Cashel.
Working remotely has plenty of benefits, but it can sometimes mean missing the everyday chats and connections that happen naturally in an office. This is just a chance to step away from the screen, grab a coffee, meet other remote and hybrid workers locally, and have a good chat.
☕ Coffee and conversation
🤝 Meet others working remotely in Achill
💬 No presentations, no pressure - just a relaxed meetup
Can’t make this one but would like to hear about future remote worker meetups in Achill? Email [[email protected]]() and we’ll add you to the local Grow Remote WhatsApp community.

Any tickets?
If anyone genuinely has a spare ticket during the week and on the extremely rare occasion, has nobody in mind for it, please consider me! I don't have a sob story, I've been to 2 league games and 5 championship matches this year, and have attended 7 All Ireland Finals over the years (through sheer luck of getting one on the day or leftovers) which I am so grateful for, however I would just love to be there when they finally do it. I'll be near Croker either way. If ya don't ask ya don't get. #UpMayo #MayoDoDoDo

Good pub in Castlebar to watch the final?
I'm not from Mayo but I will be in Castlebar on Sunday. I was wondering what would be a nice pub to watch the match in? Preferably somewhere not too packed.

What are your thoughts on people attending all Ireland finals when their own county isn’t involved ?

Road to Achill
The road going down to achill is jammed. Traffic is going back all the way out of Newport on both the westport and castlebar roads . We've been at the constitution lights at the bridge for the guts of an hour.
Photographer / videographer Westport
Hi folks, looking to get engaged in a few weeks just outside of Westport, Co Mayo. I’m looking for recommendations for a photographer / videographer who would be able to capture the actual moment with a video and some photos and potentially do a few photos after.
I’ve seen a few videos online/tiktok but none specific to Ireland/west of Ireland. Mainly US/Canada.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Getting to feakle fest from county mayo
Heyo, traveling through Ireland this summer. I am currently in county mayo by westport. I am looking to get to the feakle music festival which runs august 5-10. I have been looking at bus combinations and it seems doable but a bit hectic. As such i was wondering if any one is driving from county mayo to feakle for the festival and has extra space in their car. I an pitch in gas and snack money and banter of course. Thanks a bunch!

Buy your new Mayo jersey now. And get it AFTER the all Ireland final.

A timely reminder as Mayo enter another All-Ireland final: the murder of Mayo supporter Joe Deacy remains unsolved

Mayo remote workers catch up - 25th July @ Westport House
Hi everyone 👋
I'm a Westport-based local volunteer with Grow Remote.
If you work remotely or in a hybrid role, you'll probably understand how difficult it can be to meet new people when your colleagues are scattered around the country (or the world!). While remote work offers great flexibility, it can sometimes feel a little isolating too.
That's why I'm organising a relaxed Walk & Coffee evening for remote and hybrid workers in the Westport area. We'll meet at Westport House, enjoy a peaceful walk, and then grab a coffee together afterwards. It's a great opportunity to get out of the house, stretch the legs, and connect with other people who understand the remote work lifestyle.
Register on Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/1993326595506?aff=oddtdtcreator
As a bonus, everyone who registers will receive a free coffee and some nibbles :)
If you can’t make this event but would like to stay connected with other remote workers locally, just email [email protected] and we'll get you added to our Westport WhatsApp group.
Hope to see some new faces there!
