Over a thousand miles in the last two days of my road trip, on only two tanks of fuel with more to spare. Managed to reach a peak of 68MPG (UK MPG) on the first day but unfortunately didn’t take a photo.

Imported this beauty from Germany, fully restored to spec by Arthur-Bechtel, was my dream to get into the collection and could never find the right color combo or if I did, something was always off. Hoping it holds its value and is a hedge to pass down to my daughter!

Progressive gave me a ridiculous $2400/mo quote for insuring the G580. This is in California and their justification was along the lines that it’s a new model.

I’m going to shop around and wondering what others are paying for insurance premium.

I recently acquired this very good condition 300se 5MT from 86’ .
It has been amazing to daily it here in France with many great encounters.

The only issue I have is a cold start issue.
Whenever the temperature is below 14-15 degrees celcius, the car won’t start, the starter doesn’t even cranks.

What has been done so far :
A new battery
Spark plugs
Distributor
Coil pack

This car is equipped with the original alarm from Mercedes-Benz,

I’ve picked up what I think is quite an unusual vintage Mercedes-Benz cap, and instead of listing it for sale, I’d really like to work out its story.

Here’s what I know:

-Embroidered Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star directly into the front panel (not a sewn-on patch).

-Navy wool-style crown with genuine suede brim and matching suede side panels.

-Metal buckle adjustment.

-No manufacturer labels. No care labels. No country of manufacture. Nothing.

-It has what appears to be a signature written on the suede brim.

-The construction feels much higher quality than the average promotional cap, but I can’t find another example anywhere online.

My current theories are:
-Dealership or corporate merchandise.
-Motorsports or hospitality merchandise.
-A limited production item that was never sold at retail.
-The signature is another rabbit hole. To my eyes it starts something like “T. Co…”, but that’s probably just me seeing patterns.

I’d love to find evidence:

Has anyone seen this exact cap before?
Does anyone remember these being sold or given away?
Can anyone date it from the logo style or construction?
Extreme long-shot...does the signature ring any bells?

I have a Mercedes c350e estate which seems to sound very loud driving on the motorway.

The oil levels seem fine and there is no warning light on the dashboard. The engine sounds quite loud (see attached video)

Does anyone have any advice?

In my opinion, the GLE is the best car for all purposes. I got a GLE 350 last year, and for the first time in my life, i don’t have the itch to open Autotrader every night to see what’s out there.
It’s spacious, fun to drive, comfortable, looks good, impresses anyone and everyone.
I’m someone who changes cars often but for the first time in 20+ years of doing so, I don’t have that itch anymore.

Need to sort some things. It’s been decatted and only has a amg back box so is a bit loud for me. A centre silencer will sort that. It’s very very very twitchy and wayward coming to a stop the way the steering has a mind of its own. Also does not like pot holes and feels twitchy when you hit uneven roads. Possibly the steering damper maybe more. Door cards are coming away but a couple of black self tappers until I can get new cards. While I am doing the cards I will upgrade the speakers as they are rubbish.
New passenger wing mirror as someone swiped me and pushed it forward smashing the surround and glass. I have got Velcro straps to fit the original amg clear wind deflector I got in the sale. Needs a drivers rear tyre as it’s getting low.
And a service.
