Movies Viggo Mortensen’s photography during the Lord of the Rings.
While portraying Aragorn, Viggo Mortensen was also documenting life behind the scenes of The Lord of the Rings through his own camera lens.
Away from the battles and costumes, he captured quiet, candid moments of the cast and the crew. Creating a unique visual diary of one of cinema’s greatest productions.
Many of these photographs were later published in The Hole in the Sum of My Parts, offering fans an intimate perspective that only someone living the experience could have captured.

Movies Why does Tolkien feel so right, compared to other fantasy worlds?
Obviously he's a godfather to the genre so he gets those pioneer privileges, but there's something truly different about the way his characters are written.
I think that most fantasy stories write their characters the way they would in any other genre. Meaning that they treat fantasy as more of an aesthetic than a philosophy.
The best fantasy is nor just an aesthetic, you have to write uncompromising characters!

Other I got the Trek bike factory to paint "One Ring to Rule them all" on the top tube of my bike. I tried to get them to use the proper font but they said they couldn't. I call the bike Smaug.

Other I went to the Professor’s grave
I find myself in Oxford for a day, and went on a little improvised Tolkien tour. I visited the bench, his various homes, the pubs, and of course his grave. I left a bouquet of flowers and a little letter of thanks for his legendary work. There’s not many Tolkien fans in my life to share this with, so I figured I would post here. If you’re ever in Oxford, paying a visit only takes a short bus ride :)

Books Finally, a replacement 'reading' set!
I'd been looking for a matched set at thrift stores for the past 2yrs. Always found one or another volume, or a mismatched covers set.
Can finally retire my original reading set (too fragile for another go) and revisit Middle Earth 😊
Only note, The Hobbit was not from today's find, it's just included because it's always on that coffee table 💁🏼♂️

Question Is this statue head meant to be Anarion?
Hi sorry this is my first time posting in this sub Reddit but I was rewatching the extended edition of Fellowship of the Ring and I saw this and I was thinking isn’t Anarion also supposed to have a statue as a part of the Argonath. Could this be intended to be the head of his statue or not?

Video Games Which LOTR universe game has the most accurate "world"
Which LOTR game will be able to immerse me into the world the most closely to how Tolkien imagined it?
Personal favorite: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring's Shire
