I came across these beam shapers while work and loved the look they create. I wanted to get some for my Eurolite TMH X4s as well, but my research only turned up versions designed for Martin MAC Auras. Does anyone happen to have a 3D file—either already sized for the TMH X4 or at least for the MAC Auras?

I'm part of a team renovating a student nightclub in Sweden, we are very ambitious with our goal with the club and I'm currently putting together a lighting proposal that will be presented to our board.

I've attached a few photos and videos from another nightclub that has the kind of ceiling lighting we're trying to achieve.

I'm specifically trying to identify the linear LED fixtures used in the ceiling. They produce smooth, diffused light and are capable of pixel/chase effects along each individual line.

I'm mainly hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

• What would you call this type of fixture?
• Anyleds strips, manufacturers or product series I should look into?

Low budget if possible.
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Testing out the custom led lights I just made with a little impromptu dj session, hope you enjoy :)

As the title says, this is my first time designing. I'm looking for some feedback. I do tech and acting at my local children's theatre. I've designed in other categories before, but this is my first time designing lights. This show was a rewrite/reimagination of RUR. I had been to Disney recently and still had the illusions from Galaxy's Edge on my mind. This show made me think of Pepper's Ghost, so I presented a mock-up of that to the director and ended up doing projections along with lights. We added strip lights around the audience to help them feel like part of the production and to mitigate the fact that we could only use front lighting in the space. Part of my design was to make viewers feel as if their lives were being encroached upon by Radius (the AGI and the tension of the story).

I am relatively new to lighting design. My question is, if I were to go as a guest to a venue/festival, I assume I would ask for a stage layout, to program in advance. However how do I know their orientation of the lights? How do I patch the setup in a visualizer, so that it corresponds with the actual placement/orientation of the lights?

It happened to me for example that in the chamsys visualizer the lights were rotated 90 degrees relative to their real world placement. How do I know it in advance?

The strips start flashing whenever I apply an effect to more than 2 of the tubes, anyone has a clue whats going on? At first I thought it was just low power so I up graded from 100w 24V 12,5Amp powersupply to 300w 24V 14Amp powersupply and the issue seems to prevail.

(to be more specific the LEDs used to flash when ran on the 100W on full power now they flash when they run on the 300w on low power)

the LEDs in question are 24V COB strip rater 21W per meter. According to internet calculator the 300W should be plenty powerfull for 9m

Signal is running via DMX decoder, from computer (lightkey software)

Any ideas where the issue could come from?

I know it's usually for connecting your box to your console, but can I run DMX from the asterabox *out* to the astera powerbank, then cable from there to some titans to have a fully wired connection to each light? Or is that jack just an input, thus meaning the connection from the box to the powerbank will just have to be wireless?

Hey friends, I work in a house that has 8 Diablos as part of our rep plot. We were doing some maintenance and found that some of them have a different degree of tilt at the extremes. Has anyone encountered this and can help us figure out what's going on?

Potentially useful information:

All were purchased at the same time

All but 2 have a similar level of usage and the 2 that are less used are also different degrees

All are on the same mode and all settings are the same on the board and on the fixture

Picked up a few of these uplights. They *look* simple, but for the life of me I can’t get them to recognize 8- or 12-channel DMX inputs as such: they always treat ch1 as red (not dimmer), ch2-6 as the other colors, and ignore everything sent to higher channels.

Tried:

• Making sure I hit Enter after cycling to the desired personality, not just diving straight into channel offset via up/down
• Unplugging, then confirming they still say 12ch upon powering back up & hitting Menu once
• Isolating one light at a time physically connected to the DMX controller
• Messing around with channel offsets (“d001” & higher) that are & aren’t multiples of 6/8/12.

Is there some kind of known firmware bug out there, that could affect multiple units from multiple dealers? Or am I just a huge idiot who can’t operate a 4-pushbutton interface?

Disclosure: I'm the developer. Posting this because I built the tool partly out of frustration with how IES files are usually viewed, and I'd genuinely like feedback from people who work with photometric data daily.

LumaScope is a native macOS app for opening and inspecting IES (IESNA LM-63) photometric files. Point it at a folder of .ies files, click through them, and get a polar intensity diagram plus the file's metadata.

The thing that finally pushed me to release v1.2.0: I was tired of viewers that draw the beam sideways or mirror asymmetric distributions incorrectly. This release focuses entirely on getting the diagram right:

• Nadir (0°) at the bottom, matching standard photometric report orientation
• Principal planes: C0–C180 solid, C90–C270 dashed
• Gamma-angle grid, 0°–180°
• Candela / cd-per-1000-lumen toggle
• Correct handling of symmetric and full 0–360° asymmetric distributions

Also added a metadata inspector (manufacturer, catalog number, luminaire/lamp, photometry type, total flux, input power, efficacy in lm/W, dimensions, peak intensity) and made the parser more tolerant of real-world files.

Worth knowing: it's IES/LM-63 only right now — no EULUMDAT/LDT support, no 3D or Cartesian view yet. macOS 14+ required. Paid app on the Mac App Store (link in comments to keep the post non-salesy).

I'd love to know: is the diagram convention I used the one you'd expect from a report? And what would make this genuinely useful in your daily workflow — Cartesian view, LDT support, batch comparison, something else?

Hi, I recently bought a lighting fixture (G4M SOL 54S), and I was wondering - should I buy a small lighting desk, or should I get something like an Entecc USB interface and use my laptop with something like QLC+ to control the lights? I am not looking to have more than 4/5 because my budget won't allow for it. I don't have a big budget, and it isn't for any professional purposes. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey all, I'm pretty sure this kind of post is within the sub rules, but please let me know if not.

I have a few days to design and programme lighting for a production of George Orwell's Animal Farm for the theatre I work at. I don't do a whole lot of design, I'm a much more hands on, on the floor, live events person, so I'd really appreciate any help.

We have 15 LED pars in total, and then Hot PARs, Fresnels, profiles, zoomspots, PC Spots, etc. But the majority of the fixtures are 40 year old Strand/Selecon dimmers. Don't get me wrong, they can be fantastic, but sometimes it is difficult to work around their limits. It's a smallish black box venue, there will be scaffolding and various similar things for set, which I'll be rigging lights on, as well as the overhead bars, tank traps, and floor lights.

I really just want to make the most out of what fixtures we have, to be able to put on a great show. Would anyone have any insight into what kind of looks I should be aiming for, color and focus, things like that.

TL;DR - looming for advice as to how best to light an Animal Farm production with a smaller limited rig

No model number/ no manual/ no good fixture library so far. Anybody familiar?

I'm in a cover band that plays bars, small events, etc., and obviously we can't afford a lighting guy. I have all wireless DMX/rechargeable fixtures, and plan to use ARTNET. I want to use ARTNET because my mixer and our iPads/Android phones all run on the same network on stage. This allows me to avoid using additional devices/cables/dongles/etc. I want to be able to launch the app and be ready to go.

I have three requests for recommendations. 1) What app can I run on my Android phone that will allow me to communicate with an ARTNET controller? I would want to be able to set up 6 to 8 buttons to change presets. My phone is mounted on my drum rack. 2) What brand and model of ARTNET controller would work best in this situation? The controller needs to either be small enough to tuck away inside a rack case, or be rack mountable, and I would prefer it have an ethernet port. A built-in transmitter would be nice, but if not, 3) what type of wireless DMX transmitter will I need to send from the ARTNET controller. I already own a barrel type transmitter with 4 barrel type receives that all plug into DMX ports.

I'm new to theatre lighting and have recently been given a budget of €50,000 to purchase 4–6 professional moving head wash fixtures for our venue. I'd really appreciate some advice from people with theatre experience.

The fixtures will be installed on overhead bars above the stage. The stage is approximately 12 meters wide and 10 meters deep.

Would you recommend buying 4 higher-output fixtures or 6 smaller fixtures for a stage of this size?

After all, off-the-shelf controllers are just way too expensive.

We’ve already got a wireless DMX system so I’m trying to find some cheap, relatively low power DMX LEDs that we could use to do some accent lighting in/on/under the 5 rolling set pieces.

Currently planning to just buy 5 powerbanks, but something we could power over USB-C would be sweet. I just can’t find what I really want which is like a 2’ LED bar that has a dmx port built in.

Also show opens in 2 weeks and I got pulled in yesterday 🙃. We have a little budget, but not enough to just buy full jackery powerbanks and real fixtures.

Im trying to get into lighting design after I worked on some lights at a community theater and I got trained on actual lighting (the school I studied theater only had 2 led lights) and I realized how fun lights actually where so do any of you have recommendations on gear to buy to get started? I found a 40$ board on amazon and 2 led 40$ lights I was looking at. Any recommendations and tips? (Already got a wrench, gloves and flashlight)

I played with the idea of posting this in here or Valorants chat so its going in both. For Valorants champ tour do they hire out to a production company for all the live lighting and sound or do they keep a their tech on staff for the stages? I'm a young lighting designer and think the lighting that they do for champs tour is some of the coolest stuff ever. I got a dream one day of working on one of the stages and would love to learn more!

I think lighting for stuff like this would be really cool to do but honestly I don't even know how people gigs for events like this.
