Reminder: There is a public anti-data center event today (7/22) at 6pm at Harvest Worship Center

Harvest Worship Center is hosting an anti-data center event today (7/22) at 6pm. The address is 1820 Oxford Circle in Lexington.

I will be one of (I believe) several speakers there, but I did not organize the event and am not sure who all will be speaking.

Although I don't know who else will be speaking or what exactly they'll say, I'll briefly summarize the recommendations I plan to make in case anyone here can't make it to the event but would like to know what those recommendations are:

1) Let the planning commission know that the Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment (ZOTA) currently being considered is woefully inadequate. While it would limit AI data centers to no more than 50,000 square feet, there are no other serious protections for the community in this ZOTA. You can send an email on the ZOTA and what regulations for data centers you'd like to see to [email protected].

2) Create an account on the government website engage.lexingtonky.gov to leave a comment on the discussion board. There are only 81 comments on that discussion board so far.

3) Attend the Planning Commission's public hearing on July 30 at 1:30pm. The address is 200 E Main Street in Lexington. This event is about the ZOTA that the Planning Commission is currently considering. Everyone who can make it should attend, but if you'd like to speak you should arrive early (1:00) to put your name on the list.

Shillito Park Apartments

I’ve been without AC for a week now. Plus a million other things I could say about this god forsaken place.

If you’re looking for a place, I’m begging you, don’t even look here.

Spanish Lessons

Anybody offering lessons or tutoring in Spanish. I’ve used apps like Duolingo and Palteca but they haven’t yielded the best results. I wanted to immerse myself in the language and learn it as its own language vs learning it as a translation of English.

ISO electrician to install one outlet.

We got a new refrigerator for our garage. The new one keeps throwing the breaker and we think we need a dedicated outlet for the refrigerator. Any recommendations for an electrician?

Did anyone else just see that massive shooting star?

About 10 minutes ago; three distinct swells in magnitude. It was too slow to be a meteorite, clearly space junk. But man.. I haven’t seen one that bright since I was a teenager. Left a trail of embers behind.

Anyone need wet cat food?

Alfredo tax

Anyone in dire need of wet cat food? I have ~20 cans (a couple different brands) that my Alfredo won't eat.

Free. No catch, I'm thankful for this community because this is where I got my orange, Alfredo from and he's been a blessing to me and my partner. Happy to pass it along to someone who needs it. You're welcome to dm me privately.

Is anyone taking care of these fish at Third St Stuff at all? Or is anyone able to rescue them if not?

There appears to be only two left alive. The others seem to be dead. I only just now discovered that they even closed and left the fish. I have no idea if they’re being taken care of any in way at all, but it doesn’t look like it. There is at least 3 that I think may be dead. I don’t have the means to rescue them myself but I feel awful leaving them.

Lost cat near Mount Tabor Park

This cat is lost from around Mount Tabor Park/Patchen/Richmond Road area. She should have a collar with her name and a phone number on it. Very concerned about her being out with the storms. She is friendly and social and enjoys lounging around people but doesn’t like to be picked up. She is very food motivated. If you live around there please look under your cars and porches!

Dog/Puppy Adoption in Lexington

Hello, I'm looking to adopt a dog or puppy in Lexington. I have been monitoring the Lexington, Woodford, and Paris humane societies, but currently, there are no dogs that would be a match for my home. In terms of breeds, I am specifically interested in a great pyrenees or similar large breed. I have cats, so the dog must be gentle and good with other animals.

Does anyone have any recommendations for rescues or other places I might look? I browsed CraigsList, but I feel very wary of adopting a dog there.

Does solid therapy exist in Lexington.

Hey so sending out apps, hasn't gone well. Where I live I have an amazing therapist that won't be able to see me if I move. I'm afraid mental health care is lacking.

Can someone anonymously tell me of solid places to go. I pay out of pocket but am reimbursed where I live. No I am not crazy just it's important to talk things out.
