Looking For Holistic health care
I am looking for a holistic physician or physicians assistant, or even somebody in the traditional healthcare world that listens to symptoms and not numbers and bloodwork ranges. I fought for seven years to find one in the state I lived in before now that I’m back in Florida I really don’t wanna spend years looking for another one who’s healthcare provider out there listen to medical test and symptoms who listens to the patient and not just the numbers.

Are there any plant swapping group
Howdy, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any local plant swapping groups. Trying to help my dad find milk weed to feed his monarch caterpillars he has been watching grow. They have almost ate through all of his milk weed and several aren't done eating yet.

Any private rental homes in South Lakeland?
I’ve search Facebook and Zillow and it seems like these are like a needle in a haystack nowadays.
The large rental management companies inevitably are nightmares to work with so we’re trying to avoid that if possible..
I’m looking for a 3/2 house with a fenced in yard if possible. $2000 max budget. Does anyone have any recommendations for who to get in touch with? Thanks so much.

Update for the Drunk Chess Tournament
reddit.comLink to previous post
I have gotten about 5 affirmatives to the event so far. I have not been able to reach out to the Lakeland chess club as their socials are down or disorganized. If someone can access them and let them know about this, that would be great. If I can get about 32 interested, I can get the ball rolling. It will likely be at Front Page in Bartow. Any help in organizing will be greatly appreciated.

Where to get back issue comic books
I’m looking to fill some gaps in my collection and I’m looking for places I can do this. I already know of Coliseum of Comics in Lakeland, but anywhere else that can be recommended for this. I would prefer to stay in the Lakeland/Winter Haven area but I will go as far as Orlando or Tampa if needed. Thanks in advance

Looking on any insight on candidates for local elections.
I am trying to be better about voting in general but also being as informed as possible without making it my full time job. I am looking for any insights about any of the candidates for the upcoming Polk County Republican Party Primary Elections and beyond. I am in the process of reading through this LKLDnow Voter Guide and also checking out each candidate's website, but thought it would be good to reach out and hear what others had to say.
I am not looking to discuss overall political philosophy, please don't just tell me to "vote blue", and please keep your assumptions about my beliefs to yourself, I really don't agree with either political party but I have to play the game that is presented to me instead of wishing for a different game. I believe voting in the Republican Primary and then in the following local elections will have the most impact.
Thank you in advance for any information. (:

Sabal Transportation- do not work here
This trucking company out of Bartow is one of the worst family owned small business trucking companies I've ever drove for. First the owner is weird. First he doesnt speak to you unless he wants you to move a trailer or claim you didn't do your pretrip. NOBODY LIKES HIM INCLUDING OFFICE STAFF. He comes off rude and unapproachable and doesnt care about the tractors and only cares about his old, raggedy trailers. Second, their equipment (Trailers) are utter shit. Its embarrassing to use those trailers plus they break down often or hard to maneuver in. I be happy that the doors close and the landing gear works. Most of your time you stuck dealing with the trailers and while you're driving praying for a safe trip to and from the yard. Third, the pay is just shit. They pay new drivers 21hr but no overtime. I worked 64 hours one week and received a little over 1300. Fourth, they be having roaches and raccoons plus cats running around at their tractor, office, and trailer yard. SMH ill be leaving as soon as my next job starts but this company is horrible.

Black hairdressers/salons in Lakeland?
Hey everyone!
I’ve been in Polk county for more than a decade now and have yet to find a reliable hairdresser/salon who specializes in black hair - specifically natural hair texture. I’ve been to “Relax be Natural” but I wasn’t impressed by the staff’s hospitality management (skills are great). Any recommendations?

Furniture shopping in the area
I went to City Furniture off I-4 and was shocked by the size of it and how I didn't like a single thing there. Am I that out of touch with current styles? Lol I haven't been shopping for furniture in several years, so I guess it's possible. What's another good place to look?

Looking for local gym parter or social friends
M22, I live in south lakeland close to the Home Depot. I’m mostly just looking for someone who would want to go to the gym with me. I have a membership (with guest passes) at Crunch off S Florida and occasionally go to the cycling classes and recently started weight lifting again.
I’m just getting over some nerve damage my old construction job gave me back in October so I’m starting to lift weights again and would love to have someone help motivate and support me on my journey to get back into shape.
Preferably a male but I’m open to anything, male female and others, as I’m more comfortable working out with men around my age.
Also looking to increase my socialization, I’m in college getting my Associates then working towards my Bachelor’s degree. Starting this fall semester I’m hoping to take 7 classes as long as I can afford it with a mix of online and in person which will take up some of my free time.
I also work part time to help me get through college and pay bills. Outside of work and school I don’t have any friends I can hang out with or talk to consistently and would love to grow my friend group and social skills.
If anyone’s interested please lmk and if this isn’t the subreddit for it, can someone point me to the right one?

I Want To Organize a Drinking Chess Tournament for August
I'm still working on the rules since Im not sure how comfortable I or others are with binge drinking, but essentially, before every round, a beer or equivalent is drank, and the game is played until the end. I prospectively would like 64+ participants. If you or anyone you know would like to join, please comment down below. If anyone is in a local chess club and would put out feelers there, i would appreciate it. I plan to organize this at a brewery on a saturday and probably require a dd to sign up with each participant. No fee, im happy to create an event. If many people sign up, we would probably get cheaper drinks. DMs welcome. I'll probably set up a Google doc for sign ups and seeding if enough interest is generated.
Thanks!

3-4yo constantly playing in lake unattended
I need some help determining if I should call the non emergency police or put in a DCF report.
I live on a small lake. We have nuisance gators that frequently get trapped. The largest in the time I’ve lived here (1 year) was 12 feet. Last week, we had to call one in for stalking and being territorial, and snapping at our neighborhood’s lawn care people. They haven’t trapped it yet. I feel bad for calling it in for just doing what gators do (this is the first one we have called for) but I did it because of the kid.
There is a family that lets their toddler/very small child play knee deep in the lake, right where the gators get trapped and also right where the gator displayed aggressive behavior to the lawn care people last week. The trapper we called said that he’s trapped 7 gators on their property in the past few years. The people have lived there for over a decade so there’s no way they don’t know about their property being an alligator hot spot.
The child is usually unattended when he’s out there. There’s a chance his adults are in their screen porch and we just can’t see them, but it’s 20 feet away from the shoreline where the kid is. And their yard slopes down to the bank a good 3 feet so it’s possible they can’t even see the kid when he’s in the water because of the slope.
I should also mention that when the adults are out bankfishing on the property, the kid is always out there with them knee deep in the water, so they know that the kid likes to go in. But even when there are adults out there with him I am anxious because it’s not like they’d be quick enough to help him if a gator snatches him.
Is this grounds for a DCF call or a non emergency call? I believe it is the grandparents who own the home. And I see the kid out there in the water at least twice a week. We have tried talking to them about the alligators (they often take their jon boat to our side of the lake) but they don’t seem very receptive about it or friendly. I don’t want to make enemies with my neighbors but if this kid gets eaten by an apex predictor I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.
Thanks for the advice.

Hallam neighborhood Spectrum internet question
Spectrum Internet question for anyone living in the Hallam area! How does Spectrum Internet work for you? Does it go down a lot? Thinking about a home purchase in that area, but Frontier isn’t available on the particular street.
