If anyone has a missing pet bird and has reason to believe it could have ended up at the rideshare area on Floor 3 of the SeaTac airport please post or message me with a photo of your missing bird so we can confirm ownership.

In the meantime the little guy is safe with me and has food and water.

Help and Advice Are you receiving Junk Fees? We want to hear about it!

In 2025, the Washington Legislature passed a law that prevents rent gouging, but some landlords and property management companies are still up to their old tricks. They are using "junk fees" as a loophole around rent caps. We are hearing from tenants that they are increasingly being charged excessive fees for services that they don’t want or need, or for basic things like paying the rent. We at the Housing Alliance, call these “junk fees” and they are unfair, expensive, and deceptive. We’d like to hear your experiences. All information shared with us will be kept safe and confidential.

Please fill out our survey if you or someone you know has received junk fees and we will be in touch within 48 hours. Thank you! ~ Po

heard back from ruth woo fellowship?

Hi, I applied for the Ruth roo fellowship with King County a month ago and have been doubting myself ever since.

I was told interviews would occur the first week of August and it's mid July. I would assume by this week or next people would have heard back if they were invited or not.

Anyone heard anything back yet?

Has anyone interviewed for the King County Nutrition Assistant (WIC) position?

I have an interview coming up soon for a Nutrition Assistant role with King County Public Health (WIC) in Washington.

I found the sample interview questions on the King County website, but they seem more geared toward higher-level or supervisory positions than an entry-level Nutrition Assistant role.

Has anyone interviewed for this position recently? If so:

  • What kinds of questions did they ask?
  • Were they mostly behavioral ("Tell me about a time") or role-specific?
  • Were there any scenario-based questions related to WIC clients or customer service?
  • Any tips for preparing for the interview?

I would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

Seeking Participants for an Onsite Wearable Tech Study in Redmond ($75/1hr)

Hi everyone!

I’m working with the uTest team, and we’re looking for locals who’d be interested in testing out a new wearable tech device right here in Redmond!

It’s a 1-hour in-person session with a $75 payout. You don’t need any tech experience; a moderator will guide you through the task.

We’re looking for participants (18+) who are farsighted (meaning you have trouble seeing things up close, like reading a phone or a book) and wear prescription glasses or contact lenses. During the session, you’ll swap your usual eyewear for the device, which we'll set up with lens inserts based on your prescription (we'll need your Rx info in advance).

You can find all the details and the application link HERE

Feel free to visit utest.com if you’d like to learn more about what we do first.

Thanks!

Help and Advice Working at KCLS as a High School Student

Hey,

If anyone here was worked in KCLS as a HS student, or knows anyone that works in KCLS as a HS student, I would greatly appreciate your help. I am looking to get a job (most likely as a Library Page/Shelver) at KCLS. I have heard that KCLS allows HS students to work at libraries, but haven’t seen any concrete proof. Does anyone know if this is possible/allowed by KCLS? Who should I contact about this? Or should I just apply for a position via governmentjobs.com?

Would greatly appreciate any help on this, thanks in advance!

Edit: I have contacted KCLS, and they said they‘ll get back to me with more info. I would still appreciate any more info if anyone is willing to contribute.

Bandera Mountain and Little Bandera Mountain (again), WA - Rainier for Robert

Rainier for Robert.

If you know you know. Reddit has been getting upset with me lately and has been flagging my posts as spam so I'm refraining from posting my usual spiel. Hopefully this condensed version doesn't nuke my account.

If you're interested in my mission you can check out my previous posts on my account or follow the Rainier for Robert subreddit I made at Rainier for Robert.

Number 20. Bandera Mountain has been bagged. Little Bandera Mountain doesn't count, I already did it.

Rainier for Robert.

Permitting in King county….

So as of January 1, 2026 King County is requiring a flood survey to be done by a civil engineer in order to issue building permits in accordance with FEMA standards. The thing is I am remodeling a 100 year old farm house that sits on an elevation from a drainage ditch on my property (probably an old manure drain from the dairy farm that was here).

In the 100 years the house has stood here and not flooded. It started as a one room homestead and grew over the years and is in desperate need of updating.

My contractor has asked for recommendations of surveyers, as we are struggling to find civil engineer that is willing to work in King County because of the constant rule changes.

We are trying to get answers but the permitting office is only open 2 days a week, and getting there in person just puts you face to face with a receptionist.

Does anyone have any leads to civil engineers that do flood surveys in King County? Any advice on how to move permits through? I feel like all personable means of communication is lost and we are stuck with doing legwork and encoring the cost on the county‘s behalf for simply gathering data that they want.
