I was gifted a kindle book a couple of weeks ago, so I opened my rarely used kindle 3 to download it. Because I could not connect and I was unaware that amazon discontinued support, I did a hard reset, causing my content to vanish. Now I am running KOreader on the K3. Today, I booted a Fire HD8 that I also have not used for a couple of years.

I've been reading library books with Libby on an android tablet so I was happy to see my content on the Fire's kindle app. I turned off the wifi once I saw the content, thinking maybe I'll prevent an update from screwing me.

Now my question - I'd like to download my amazon content to my linux pc and ultimately transfer it to the K3 as a matter of principle. Is this at all possible?

Should I turn wifi on the Fire and presumeably let it update the OS or firmware automatically or is that something I have to initiate?

Finally, I'm the original owner of the Kindle 3. Shouldn't I have received some sort of notice from Amazon that they planned to discontinue support?

It’s almost 6 in the morning & I received a call from my child via his Amazon tablet. Confused on how he’s able to call me because the schedule I set for today was 10 am - 11:57 pm. I found out through the parent dashboard that he’s been playing for almost three hours before he called me! What is going on?

I'm trying to convert my old Kindle Fire (Kindle 6, Serial number starts with D01E) into a little display for my desk. I know the hardware is old, I know it won't be able to do much, I'm not looking for or expecting much more than a neat project and a silly thing to try.

However, I keep hitting a massive roadblock, which is that (as far as I can tell), I need one of the early versions of Kindle Fire Utility.

And I cannot, for the life of me, find a good link. AFH link is dead, Meta is dead, and all of the XDA links I can find either link to those two dead links, or nowhere at all.

So uh. Does anybody have the file? Or a living link to where I could download it? Or just a different way to do this altogether?

I was doing some cleaning today and came across this old (2012?) Fire Tablet. I plugged it in and it had 88% battery and charged right up. I dumped a folder full of books on it and they open and work. So I put some audio books on it too and they all work.

Now the Problem is the back is very sticky and nothing seems to help. I tried Alcohol, Acetone, window cleaner and a Magic eraser and it's just not coming clean... Any ideas ?

Currently have a kindle fire 8 12th gen and my battery is not lasting as long as it used to. Given how much reading I do, I'm guessing the battery is starting to wear out, making it time to get a new kindle. I'm noticing today the 10s are cheaper than the 8s. Is there any advantage or one or the other (aside from size of screen?)

Note: I take mine on the train and read during my daily commute. Discovered the 10 should fit into my purse. I also would like to be able to play basic games on occasion, making the reader only ones less than ideal.

I put a 32gb sd card into the tablet and it is reading it. How do I make take whenever my kids, via the kids profile, download games it uses the storage of the card so they can download more games?

im on fire os 7.3.3.1 i looked at the mod guide and i kept reading that i have to have to have firmware 5.something something or lower and 7 is certainly a higher number than 5. so which jailbreak guide would i use?

I really need to find out a way to fix this because it's actually preventing me from using the device. I go to read but put it back down because I just feel so sad looking at it (I know it sounds silly but I'm autistic and find these things difficult).

I find it hard to navigate like this, plus replacing the tabs for downloaded books and all books with a filter is a huge downgrade. I used to use those daily.

I don't get why they would do this, it now just takes up more if the screen. Could they at least give me an option to toggle the menu to the bottom where it's supposed to be and has been for the 10 years I've owned a kindle?

Upping the display size seems to be a fix for now, as it forces the display back to the bottom of the screen. It's not ideal though.

Hi all, I recently found my old Kindle fire but I have no idea what the pin is. I have tried multiple combinations and still nothing. Not sure what model this is, I was wondering if there’s a way to unlock it without factory resetting it and wiping the data. I have reached the maximum number of pin attempts before it resets itself, so I can’t try that method anymore. Any help is appreciated, thank you :)

I backed up my daugher's kindle fire 10 (I think 11th gen) on my PC (I can easily access the android/data folder), but trying to paste that to her new profile won't work.

I've been working on this all day, so I understand that Android/Google changed their settings so the folder isn't accessible anymore. I downloaded Shizuku and x-plore file manager (or whatever it's called) and was able to get all that to work on the parent profile.

But I can't for the life of me seem to get it to work on the kids profile. I can't fully download Shizuku (I can open it from installing it with kindle toolbox, but can't get it to "run" like on the parent profile). I've tried adb commands to force a full install, but it doesn't get any further.

How the heck can I get access to the Data folder on a kids profile?

Or is there a way to somehow to copy the parent data folder to the child profile?

I mostly just need the data for Toca World and saves for Stardew Valley, but without access to the Data folder I can't seem to do anything.

I have a Fire HD 10 tablet. I'm trying to get calling from a child profile to my android phone working. If my phone is connected to Wi-Fi then it works. The call shows up and I can answer. But if my phone is using data instead, then the call from the tablet doesn't show up. Nothing shows up about the call. I've made sure "background data" and "unrestricted data usage" are enabled for the Alexa app on my phone. Any suggestions?

I don't want to remove all ads because sometimes it shows a book I'll try. 9 times out of 10 the ad on my lock screen is for period pads, I have never searched for them on amazon so I don't know why they come up. I am on a Kindle Fire 8 12th gen.

I recently rediscovered my fire tablet but didn’t remember the password so I factory reset it. When I try to register it, it won’t work(Registration Error: there was an error while registering your Kindle. Please try again later. For Help, visit www.kindle.com/support). I tried the whole 2 factor authentication thing but it never emails me a OTP(I know this whole process and was able to login on my kindle keyboard but not the fire tablet). If I login to Amazon on another device it will does send an OTP via text but not on this tablet. I think I need to maybe manually update my software but I don’t know what the latest version this device accepts. I also don’t know exactly how to manually update the software. Anyway if anybody has any ideas or advice that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I used to own a kindle fire years ago (probably around 2010-2016?), and I had downloaded this hidden objects mystery game that I can’t remember the name of!

Here are some details that I remember;

Scene starts with an old car breaking down in front of a gated entrance (to a house), and the protagonist must fix her car. The fence is locked, and we are prompted to click on more objects. We meet an old lady (white, white hair, wearing a hat) who has lost her orange cat. The protagonist must now find the cat (which I believe was under a sewer/drainage) and lure it out with tuna.

Another scene I remember is once inside the dark old mansion/manor (the main plot of the game), we enter an office and a man (white, short brown hair, wearing glasses and white attire) jumpscares us with a gun. He is shocked on why we‘re there and protagonist explains. (I can’t remember if the protag was the daughter of manor‘s owner) The glasses guy works for the father (I think) and asks us for help on something. Turns out, he’s evil and tries to summon a demon through a purple portal (all inside the og office) with tentacles poking out. This is revealed later.

I remember most of the plot takes place inside the mansion, and as most hidden object games, we go through each room clicking on possible clues or matches to the word bank. (I do think we briefly step out into a garden as well).

The last thing I remember, is the protagonist (still can’t remember her name) is revealed to have blood red eyes and very pale skin (with dark hair). I think she was somehow connected to the demon thing? Not sure. And for some reason I remember a red piece of jewelry (amulet or ring) that was also connected, but again not to sure.

If any of this sounds familiar, please lmk! This is as far as I remember.

I have 2 tablets and 2 kids wanting to play roblox which won't work without an update. Tablet 1 gives no option anywhere on either profile to delete. If I go to manage downloads it shows only roblox even though on storage there are dozens of apps for the younger ones there. On storage there is no delete option for anything including roblox. Tablet 2 gave me the option to delete on storage and I deleted a bit over 2gb and it still shows it has about 200mb of space and won't allow the update. I waited about 30 minutes and restarted and it still shows no space. This is rediculous. Any advice on either?

I can't seem to click on recently added when sorting my Spotify playlist and I'm pretty sure it's because the nav bar overlaps with it. Does anyone know how to (re)move the bar?

I’ve made several apps a “favorite” by holding the app and clicking add favorite. But where the heck are they? There is no “for you” of whatever other posts say. All my apps are just one big long list. No categories. I’ve tried everything, changed it from little kid to big kid, turned airplane mode on. All I see that changes is the “recent” tables and the worthless “my stuff” folder that doesn’t do anything

My kid’s kindle fire stopped working and it is only 6 months old. But whenever I try to return it on Amazon, all it does is give me the option of getting technical support or watching videos to fix it myself. It doesn’t give me the option to actually return it. Am I missing something? What do I have to do to get them to honor their warranty? Thank you.

Hello! There was a 2D game on my kindle when I was younger that had a spinoff card matching game with the characters and food on the kindle app store. It was a blue circle-man (like a stubby bean with eyes and a mouth) with brown hair who was like an agent and had a tablet or something that served as a game mechanic. There was a doctor with a name like "wiggle, "bottom" or higgle", a girl charcter with pigtails who I think was named Cindy for some reason. There was also a Bizzarro type character that was blue like the main character with orange hair. It was like a point and click puzzle game, and had a level at a dumpster or something. There was also some alien stuff. I can't find it for the life of me!
