Not every single piece of jewelry in my collection has a story. Some I own just because I like them. This piece however does have a very special story that I would like to share.

My dad raised me as a single father. If a single father is uncommon now imagine what it was like in the late 80s ('87 baby). My dad went through a lot while raising me, including a long period of unemployment. He sacrificed for me.

After I graduated high school and was in university he got a great opportunity to work in Bermuda. He was there for 14 years I would visit him, we would travel together and he would come back to our home city in Canada. Christmas 2015 he was back in Canada for the holidays. He went to visit his mom and while crossing the street he was hit by a bus. Thankfully he survived but did become an amputee. After months of rehab he was back in Bermuda golfing by April of 2016.

Prior to the accident he had booked a trip for us to visit New Orleans in early May. He says that we should still take our trip. So we walk and roll (a rented wheelchair because airlines aren't nice to wheelchairs) all over New Orleans.

On our last day there we find a jewelry store and of course I had to go in and look. I found the piece pictured. A yellow gold fleur de lis with seed pearls and onyx. The onyx giving it a perfect Gothic feel. Very fitting for New Orleans. My dad bought this pendant for me. Every time I look at it I'm reminded of a great trip after a really difficult time. I love this piece. If I could only save one piece from my collection it would be this one.

My collection basically doubled in the span of 72h for my birthday, and I just had a question for the jewlery people is/was there ever a point where the urge to keep collecting pieces stopped? Did it ever come back?

After this I have basically everything I’ve “wanted” and now… I just feel like a hoarder😅 does it get better after a while?

I’ve made a turtle pendant & it’s the cutest thing !

I had a custom purple sapphire ring made. It’s a heavily occluded ring which I really loved, half purple and half pink sapphire.

The jeweler forgot the claw prongs. We sent it back to him and now he sent me “final photos” and he plans to send this off to us again. Isn’t this a chip in the sapphire? He had a video sent to us too and it looks almost gouged. Can this be fixed somehow? We have already paid completely for the ring.

He did not mention anything about the damage and either did not notice it or hopes he can just get away with it I am assuming.

For the birth of our daughter I want to gift my wife a gold bracelet with pink sapphires. I have gifted her a gold necklace with a single blue sapphire before for the birth of our son. My first thought was to look for a bracelet with a single sapphire but those feel kinda random to me since it will turn in the wrist. Tennis bracelets have caught my eye since I started looking further into options. I want it to be a strong (toddler around) bracelet for daily wear, whatever the occasion. She does not wear a watch or other bracelets. All her jewelry is yellow gold.

What are your thoughts on the attached options? They can all be custom made with yellow gold and pastel pink sapphires (which I prefer). The Cuban would costs around €6000 and the tennis bracelet €4000. All natural heated sapphires about 5ct, 18kt gold and in size 17.5 cm.

Hello! Sorry if this isn’t allowed- but does anyone have any good experience with specific Etsy shops that sell fine gold jewelry? I am interested in getting something from Etsy but so much of it seems like mass produced listings with the same pictures. Let’s shoutout some awesome shops if you know of any!

I’ve always been inspired by nature, and lately I’ve found myself paying more attention to the small details of plants that are easy to overlook.

This time, I chose rosemary.

Instead of simplifying the design into a generic leaf pattern, I wanted to keep the long, slender shape and the slightly irregular way rosemary grows. Every leaf was shaped individually and assembled by hand, which took much longer than I expected, but I felt those little details were worth preserving.

One of my favorite parts of making jewelry is trying to translate something living into metal without losing its character. I don’t want the finished piece to look perfectly symmetrical—I want it to feel like a small sprig that could have been picked straight from a garden.

This ring is part of a botanical-inspired series I’ve been exploring, and I already have a few more plants in mind for future pieces.

Mostly mixed Sterling & solid gold today. Mainly vintage

Just got an email from Thomas Sabo about their new range 'fluid elegance', made using a "Premium Alloy 18k gold plated" not it's usual gold plated sterling silver. have they done the same as Pandora and started swapping out decent gold plated sterling silver to sell plated base metal costume jewellery at high prices? I'm very disappointed when a brand does this. I'm not paying €139 for plated base metal!

I'm wondering if it's too "busy" looking?

That's for fun, i did the Copper ring with an electric cable.. that's a bunch of color on the same hand, but i love the idea to get 3 rings !

I’m on the hunt for gold/white gold huggie earrings that I can add drop charms to. If they come already attached, that is fine too. Solid gold preferred! I also like white gold, so solid gold with rhodium/platinum plated is great. This is for metal allergies and overall longevity.

I don’t really do jewellery as I work as a chef and climb a lot, however I was browsing a charity shop (US translation: thrift store) and this pretty little silver bracelet just caught my eye. It’s so light and delicate, feels so smooth and slippery, I tried it on and it fit just perfectly. It was £7 and has a tiny 925 stamped on it so it’s definitely sterling silver. So I thought what the hell and bought it.

I know it’s probably not worth much but google tells me it’s a vintage Italian (is stamped with “Italy”) twisted herringbone chain bracelet. The one thing I do wear is my silver claddagh ring (not shown as it’s in my car after climbing) so I think this goes nicely.

I’ve never seen something like this before, are they just not fashionable any more? Or do I just not pay attention to jewellery? Are there any jewellery nerds that can tell me more about it? I mostly just want to show it off because it looks so pretty and I am just a little bit in love with this tiny thing that has lived a whole life before me and now sits on my wrist - until next time I’m in the kitchen or at the climbing wall anyway!

I've fallen in love with this ring. I've tried on both this and classic solitaires, and while I liked both, this was the only one I couldn't stop thinking about afterwards.

A few friends said it doesn't really read as an engagement ring, so now I'm wondering if I'll regret choosing something more sculptural over a classic solitaire.

For those with non-traditional rings, do you still love them? And what kind of wedding band did you pair yours with?
