I’ve tried listening to the XX, but I like the music more than I do the vocals and lyrics. Similarly with cigarettes after sex. I like the sound, composition, music, but not the biggest fan of the vocals/lyrics however I prefer CAS over the XX

I need some new video essay YouTubers. Current favorites are J. Aubrey, Shanspeare, Funkyfrogbait, Farrell McGuire, Izzzyzzz, Defunctland, Dream Jelly, Nick Crowley, and The Right Opinion.

A weird mix, I know. I like the formality they all have to their videos and they usually make longer videos.
I really like how J. Aubrey will go in depth on one person or a handful of people, even covering the darker parts of things. Same with TRO.
Shanspeare looks at how patriarchy and biases get into everything even if we don’t notice it. I also like Funky for the same reasons.
Farrell and Nick just scratch that dark side of the internet itch for me.
Izzzyzzz, Dream Jelly, and Defunctland all tug on nostalgia, though for different reasons and Izzzyzzz tends to look at weirder/darker things.

I hope you guys have some ideas, feel free to ask questions if you need to.

I like goth music and I like hip-hop music. And Pixel Grip is not the only artist who mixes the two, but they’re one of the ones that I feel does it the best and the smoothest. Any recommendations? Every time I’ve shown a hip hop fan their music they tell me it sounds like house music. So any recommendations there too?

Edit: I already know about Sextile, Boy Harsher, Patriarchy and Boy Deluxe. I like all those bands too but I want other names

I recently came across Fur and ended up listening to them on repeat. There's something really comforting about their sound.

love the traditional Romani folk vibes of the song and the tempo and general riff, but really wish it evolved into something stoner or doom metal by the end. I’ve tried to find others but it all sounds too piratey…

Been listening to a lot of these 2 bands lately and really enjoy their more energetic, fast paced tracks, for AATS think 'Starfire 500' and 'Some Mutts'.

i think that song specifically, where the singer does like a low deep “desperate for changing, starving for truth” hits. it’s effortlessly good. I just listened to “Blind” by Lifehouse and it was good, but he didn’t do the thing with his voice like hanging by a moment. Anyone a big lifehouse fan and know what i mean/know a song he does it again?

I love a lot of mashups that initially seem like they shouldn't work, but I'm also hoping to find artists who match this sound. The combination of Fugazi's instruments and the vocals of the Wu-Tang Clan scratch a very specific itch in my brain. Are there any non-mashup artists who sound similar?
