Houston Food Popups

The majority of information provided in this sub is for Houston restaurants, but rarely do we discuss popups. I think it’s time we shed some light on the great small businesses operating in this city. So in this post, please share the information of your favorite popups in town. Please include their name, what kind of food they’re making, and where to find them.

If this does well, we can make it a monthly thing.

The biggest question at Houston’s newest restaurant isn’t food, it's whether parents will trust it.

ISO mints/ candy

What are those long mints/candy at Goode Co cantina? Grabbed a handful of them on my way out and didn’t realize they’re all different flavors! I love them but can’t seem to find them anywhere online are they called a specific name or brand?

Luna Pizzeria on Kirby is my go to place for my pizza crave. Especially on Mondays when it’s the half off pizza day. This large prosciutto and arugula pizza is less than $12.

Anyone have a copycat recipe for China Garden's Hot and Sour Soup?

As the title says. I grew up in Houston, moved to Ohio, and am constantly wanting that soup. And it's different than literally every other hot and sour soup I've had everywhere else.

Where are folks seeing good heirloom tomatoes in the Heights area? HEB hasn’t had any that I’ve seen.

Houston restaurants that do not use produce from Taylor Farms

By now, we’ve probably heard the news of the produce recall from Taylor Farms. This evening, I was grabbing an Uber Eats order from Olive Garden and they informed me they were unable to provide the soups for the delivery I had. No word yet when availability would be again.

This makes me think..what Houston restaurants do not use produce from Taylor Farms? I kinda want to eat out tonight, but worse case I will make a grocery store visit. Also, has anyone had word when their produce would be safe (for consumption) again?

Best cake of all time

Hi y’all my birthday is coming up and I’ve always been the basic b*tch and got the berry chantilly cake from Whole Foods for the past few years and I really want to switch it up! I’d love to hear your birthday cake suggestions! No carrot/lemon cakes as it’s not something I prefer. Cheesecakes are welcome! Tell me something you’d die for! Thank youuuuu

What’s worth it?

I’m originally from the Houston area, but moved to Austin a few years ago (traitor, I know). I feel a bit out of the loop on what’s poppin restaurant wise in Houston.

I am coming back into town next weekend, and my partner and I are planning a date night in the loop. We normally hit up Himalaya, Agas, Enoteca Rosa, or the Sharpstown area for great food that we don’t necessarily have in Austin.. We want to try a new place this time that is not tex-mex, BBQ or burgers.

Where would you go if you were an adventurous eater and had a kid-free (rare) evening in Houston?

Jinya dragon ball pin

Absurd first post but did anyone manage to get their hands on one of the Jinya Ramen bar Dragon Ball pins? I have been looking to get one for a bit and will buy it off you, also feel free to discuss the ramen so it stays within community topic.

Please and thank you.
