Pantry storage dilemma

I get way too excited for bulk shopping trips because i love having backups at home. my wallet likes the deals but my pantry definitely has complaints. i have been working on improving my storage by using containers and better shelf layouts. it feels nice when everything has a spot instead of being randomly piled up. the funny part is i still forget what i already have sometimes. i recently found extra items hiding behind other things in my pantry. i want to keep shopping in bulk but also keep my home organized. finding the right balance has been harder than i expected. i am looking for simple ideas that do not require a huge makeover

Shower curtain.

I’m looking for ideas on how to automate my shower curtain closing. My partner (whom I love dearly) cannot figure it out. I have asked him so many times to make sure it’s closed when he gets out of the shower, and every time he leaves it open. I had to throw away one curtain liner because it molded… but I also can’t always be checking if he closed it every time he takes a shower!

Closet system ideas

I live in a 300 sq ft micro studio with my husband. We have enough space for everything and maximize storage except for with clothes. Right now he uses two six drawer dressers for his clothing and keeps some things in the closet. My clothes all go into the closet, but it’s not full.

We use a plastic garage shelf in it. It is somewhat of a normal width closet that’s especially deep. I’d like to maximize the usable space but am not sure how. The dimensions are 30.5” wide, and 29” deep. Inner ceiling is about 7’ tall, and the door for it is 5.5’. I’m sort of thinking of installing shelves toward the back and a hanging rail at the front, or installing narrow u shelves or L shelves. Another option could be just deep shelves that go straight across and using bins.

Anyway, if anyone has had a similar situation or storage ideas, I’d love the help.

Thanks!

Digital calendar for wall in the kitchen, the practical stuff nobody mentions

Kitchen wall placement sounds obvious until you think through what a kitchen does to a screen. Steam from cooking, variable light from windows and overhead, grease that coats everything within six feet of the stove, kids touching it with hands that were just in a snack bowl.

Tested three before finding what worked.

Amazon Echo Show was already in our kitchen on the counter, moving it to the wall made the interface problem worse, too much happening, designed for browsing not for glancing at while you're trying to get dinner on.

Google Nest Hub Max, cleaner interface, but the screen had glare from our kitchen window in the afternoon that made it unreadable for about two hours every day, dealbreaker.

Hearth Display is a digital calendar for the kitchen wall that handled the environment better than anything else, anti-glare deals with the window light, flush mount keeps steam from getting behind, touchscreen wipes down easily. We mounted ours between the fridge and the doorway, away from cooking steam but in the path everyone takes leaving the kitchen.

After a month my husband started looking at it without me telling him what was happening that day, which was the test that mattered.

Honest things: it gets fingerprints constantly, you'll be wiping it more than you expect. The screen brightness is noticeable at night and we adjusted ours down. We don't use the meal planning, never set it up. The AI helper for photo-to-calendar I forget exists.

Position matters as much as the product. Between the fridge and the door means everyone passes it leaving the kitchen, nobody has to go out of their way to look.

What area of your home do you wish someone else would organize for you?

Hi everyone! I’m doing some research and I’d really appreciate your honest feedback. 🙏

If you could hire someone to organize just one area of your home, what would you choose?

● Pantry
● Kitchen
● Closet
● Garage
● Home office
● Paperwork
● Laundry room
● Kids’ rooms/playroom
● Something else?

I’m also curious:
● What makes that space so difficult to keep organized?
● Have you ever hired a professional organizer? If not, what has stopped you?

I’m not promoting my business or looking for clients, I’m just trying to better understand what people actually struggle with so I can create services that solve real problems.

Thanks in advance for any insight! 💜

Bath toy storage

At the moment I have a basket for the kids bath toys on the outside of the tub, which ends up getting the floor very wet from them reaching out to grab a toy.
So, I’m looking for a inside the tub toy holder. There are SO many versions out there I don’t want to buy one that’s only going to last me a month or two. Any suggestion of what has worked for you.

How did you make your kitchen look nice and organized?

I just moved into a new apartment in Sydney and I really want everything to feel fresh and put together from the start. I’m not into super cluttered kitchens. I like things clean, modern and easy to find. I’ve been looking at cookware and I found some really nice sets at Victoria’s Basement (they had good stainless steel and non-stick options on sale). Still not sure what to get exactly.

How did you organize your kitchen to make it look beautiful? Where did you get your cookware sets from?

Where Can I Buy Wire Shelving Poles Only?

I have a bunch of heavy duty 6-shelf wire shelving units. I only use 3 or 4 shelves per unit, so I have almost 20 extra shelves. I would like to buy just the steel poles so I can utilize the extra shelves. Where can I buy just the poles?

Thank You

What cleaning habit made the biggest difference in keeping your home organized?

I've been trying to focus more on building small daily habits instead of spending an entire weekend cleaning the house. It feels much easier to stay on top of things when little tasks are done consistently.

I'm curious what has worked best for everyone here.

Was it making the bed every morning, doing a quick 15-minute tidy-up, cleaning as you cook, decluttering one drawer each week, or something completely different?

I'd love to hear the one habit that made the biggest difference in keeping your home clean and organized.

Freezer Pop Organization

It is summer. The plague is upon us. There were 200 (two bags of one hundred) freezer pops that were in my freezer. After the children raided the freezer, I know have 180 frozen jenga blocks which will neither remain in the bag, nor stay inline. What is your solution for maintaining a frozen, stored, and somewhat organized state?

I have considered just letting them all melt - they are flavored water after all - and let the children suffer without.

Anyone here decorated their bathroom in a vintage style? What made the biggest difference?

I'm updating my bathroom on a budget and love the vintage look. I'm thinking about adding an antique mirror, brass fixtures, and patterned floor tiles, but I don't want the space to feel outdated.

If you've decorated your bathroom in a vintage style, what upgrade had the biggest impact? I'd love to see your ideas and recommendations.

I have these handcrafted pieces (napkin rings) from Angolan culture and I want to store them in my china cabinet so they are on display but don't take up too much space. Do you have any storage suggestions?

It’s very high up and not convenient at all. I know there’s the kind of basket that can pull down, but I don’t really want to get that for now. What can put up there? Any suggestions?

Best stackable shoe organizers for closets

Hello guys, I have recently managed to move into a new apartment and I am no longer living with my parents and this feels like a very huge milestone for me.I have made it my mission to ensure that my new living space will be as organized and beat as possible. The apartment is quite limited in terms of space and I would like to be extremely economical and ensure that none is wasted especially in my closet.I have very many pairs of shoes and would just waste space if I were to arrange them haphazardly hence I have been looking to purchase a stackable shoe organizer for the space to be neat and economical. I have been looking at some of the shoe organizers that are available for sale on both Alibaba and Amazon but I have not yet decided on which one to buy at the moment.I would like one that is durable so that it will last me for a long time.My preference is that it should be metallic in material since that is sturdier.Looking forward to your insights.

Inventory Tracker

I have ADHD and I sometimes buy multiple. Yesterday I discovered I have 6 toilet bowl cleaners for a two toilet house. I decided that I’m going to take full inventory of my house. I didn’t find any apps I liked. Now I’m looking to buy something on ETSY. A digital tracker like Google Sheets or a printable. For anyone who has done something similar, what helped you? I’m thinking of just making a printable because I feel the digital may be too overwhelming. My goal is to use up what I have and only buy when I need it. TIA

Help! Closet for boys room need shelving/drawers BUT huge empty space inside door cavity!

Any good ideas on how to design this closet so we can access the empty dead space inside the door cavity that is so large!!! Without wasting too much of the precious small room we have for this bedroom closet?

top shelf has to be shallow enough to allow big plastic bins up there? or maybe top shelf is adjustable so it can go up and down?

im open to any ideas?

This is a DIY thing Ill be buying online/ikea/homedepot.

Best hanging organizers for pantry doors

Hello guys, I have recently been on a journey to upgrade my kitchen space and I have made some really good strides in that aspect.I had bought many countertop accessories and I didn't like the look of my kitchen with them being very visible and I ended up setting up a pantry door and stored them behind it.I now like the aesthetic but I have a somewhat limited space left and I would like to make the most out of it.I would to start using pantry organizers to improve both aesthetics and capacity of my kitchen.I have been looking at some of the pantry organizers that are available on sale on both Alibaba and Amazon but I am yet to decide on which one to buy at the moment (hence the reason for the post). I need one that has multiple shelves that can hold some good weight as I plan to use it to store a lot of my glass jars and wouldn't like it if they ended up broken.Looking forward to hearing your insights on this.

How I finally got the fridge paper pile down to one wall calendar and a tiny sorter

Post image
0 Upvotes

The biggest change was deciding that the fridge is no longer allowed to be storage. No school flyers, no sports schedules, no birthday invites, no random sticky notes with “bring $5 Friday.” I gave myself one Sunday afternoon and sorted everything into trash, scan, or action.

The action stuff now goes in a 3-slot mail sorter by the back door. One slot is school forms to return, one is bills or grown-up paperwork, one is kid art we might keep. If it doesn’t fit, something has to leave. That rule helped more than any cute basket ever did.

For dates, I put an Apolosign wall calendar display in the kitchen, basically a plugged-in digital family calendar that replaced the paper month grid on our fridge. It syncs with our Google calendar, so soccer, dentist, school events, and dinner plans are all in one place. I also use the photo screen when people are over, which makes it look less like a control panel.

Permission slips still need paper sometimes, so I keep a pen and clipboard in the same spot as the sorter. The main win is that loose paper has an actual landing zone now, instead of becoming a second countertop.

How can I lay out this space differently?

I’ve just moved into this fairly small apartment, having trouble picturing how else it could be laid out.

This furniture came with the place and is all pretty low quality. I’m open to replacing stuff, just can’t afford to all at the same time.
